Arizona Commissioner Triple Dog Dares LA To Follow Through With Boycott

Daring unhinged liberals to put their money where their mouths are

The spat over Arizona’s new immigration law expanded Tuesday as a state official dared Los Angeles to follow through on its new boycott by agreeing to give up the 25 percent of electricity the city gets from Arizona sources.

In a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce said a boycott war is bad for both sides, and said he would “be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements” to end the electricity flowing to Los Angeles.

“I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands,” Mr. Pierce said. “If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.”

Go for it, Los Angeles. Walk the talk. It will be interesting to see how the people of LA respond. It’s not like California doesn’t already have power issues. So, do they stand up for their principles, or are they all talk?

Los Angeles City Council voted overwhelmingly last week to adopt a boycott of Arizona businesses — at least in instances where it wouldn’t impose a significant economic cost to the city.

So, basically, like most Liberal initiatives, they are long on talk, short on actual action. No shocker there. We see the same thing all the time. Reducing ones carbon footprint? They yammer a lot, but, actions are for others. All those complaints about the Iraq war? When push came to shove, Democrats voted multiple times to not pull out immediately. Here we are, fast approaching Obama’s 16 month point in his presidency, and we aren’t even close to starting the real pullout. War bad? Obama puts more troops into Afghanistan. Oil bad? The left still drives their SUVs. Alternative energy sources good? Yeah, but they are also expensive, so, the left mostly doesn’t bother. When it comes to most things, the Left yammers quite a bit, but, rarely does what it advocates.

Seattle also voted to boycott Arizona – except for the company in Arizona that runs their redlight camera system….

If all the readers here would print this article out and mail it (yes, snail mail) to the LA City Council members, maybe we could shame the bastards.

On second thought, knee-jerk, limousine liberals have no shame.

Michael Coleman, the mayor of Columbus Ohio, just returned from a trip to Washington and announced that he’s banning all travel to Arizona by Columbus city employees, supposedly in protest of Arizona’s new immigration law. It’s more likely that the big chunk of stimulus money he got from Obama a while back came with some strings attached….

However, he did stop short of a total boycott of Arizona businesses, since the company that operates the city’s highly profitable automated red-light cameras is based in Arizona……

    How’s THAT for hypocrisy?
