Durbin: Premiums Will Go Up with ObamaCare

Durbin Admits Premiums Will Go Up If Health Care Bill Is Passed
Sen. Dick Durbin, March 10, 2010: “Anyone who would stand before you and say ‘well, if you pass health care reform next year’s health care premiums are going down,’ I don’t think is telling the truth. I think it is likely they would go up.”
Obama Says Health Premiums Will Go Down

President Obama, March 8, 2010: “Our cost-cutting measures mirror most of the proposals in the current Senate bill, which reduces most people’s.

Don’t you love it when the truth accidentally slips out of a Democrat’s mouth? The moments are rare.

He’s just being honest. Premiums went up 10% last year while we’ve been averaging 6% per year the past decade (while health care expenditures have more than doubled on a per capita basis).

That’s what we’re trying to fix. Duh!

Some may be to young to remember but there was a joke going around back in the early nineties. It went, “Do you know when Bill Clinton is lying?” “When his lips are moving.”

Nothing has changed almost sixteen years. Nothing. Like I’ve said before the even though the democrats like to hang it on Nixon, they are the real believers in the rule “the ends justify the means.” The end here is total control over everyone’s life by a thin group of elitists and bureaucrats. The means is anything that is necessary. The fact no one has been injured or killed yet surprises me. If healthcare goes down there will be a large number of very upset radicals.

I have a friend who knows Glenn Beck, I told him to tell Glenn to hire security, as should Malkin, Hannity and some others. It takes only one upset radical with a weapon to do some serious harm.

Daniel, if you really think this is about “fixing” health care, then I say “duh” to you. This has very little to do with health care, and a LOT to do with seizing control over a HUGE chunk of our society, and exerting that control over our lives. When the government becomes the largest insurer in the country, and drives private insurance out of business, we’ll all be screwed.

Our government will be free to regulate or prohibit ANY behavior they choose to, simply by using the excuse that it impacts health care costs. They will be free to control smoking, drinking, eating, driving, recreation, the products we buy … pretty much ANYTHING they want to control using the costs of health care as an excuse. It’s a slippery slope.

As a free American, I have no intention of giving our government that level of control over my life. Nobody likes high insurance rates, especially me, but anyone who thinks our government can make ANYTHING cheaper is simply a moron. We need to start from scratch, look at what drives our health care costs, and come up with a market driven approach that leaves our freedoms intact.

I’m NOT willing to hand over my freedoms to a group of bureaucrats just because health insurance is expensive right now. Let’s fix the cost problem, keep our government out of our lives, and leave our health care system intact.
