Animated graphic of unemployment

If you click the link below, you can play a fascinating animated graphic of unemployment by county over time from 2007 to almost today. It’s fascinating, and I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions about why flyover country seems to be the last to be devoured by the unemployment rates, and as to why things look pretty normal until about July 2008, when things start to look a little frightening.
