Jim Webb: Suspend Health Care Votes Until Brown is Seated
Some want to delay seating Mass new Senator, but at least some are starting to see the writing on the wall.
Calling the election an referendum on the “openness and integrity of our government process,” Webb wrote in a statement: “It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.”
The House is on the same page:
“The only way to go forward is to take a step back. If there isn’t any recognition that we got the message and we are trying to recalibrate and do things differently, we are not only going to risk looking ignorant but arrogant,” said Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), one of the leading advocates for health reform in the House.
“I don’t think it would be the worst thing to take a step back and say we are going to pivot to do a jobs thing” and include elements of health care reform in it, he said.
Power to the people! I did notice some sneaky truth from Weiner there. Hey, let’s back off and try to sneak this in little by little now! Didn’t I just hear him say that?

As a Virginian, I and millions others have been writing to Webb and Warner about Healthcare, Climate Change, Stimulus, Deficit and we all we have gotten back in the last year is they stand with the Administration and will vote for their legislation. We kept informing Webb and Warner that by voting for the current Health Bill we would always remember and see to it they would lose their seat. They arrogantly ignored us. I guess they are listening now but now is too late.
Sue – you are correct, we Virginians have been writing to Webb and Warner all year long and they have turned a deaf ear. We told them there would be a revolution and they ignored us. We begged them to have some integrity and vote against the Health Care Scam and they ignored us. Now Webb begins to pay attention when the voters from Massachusetts speak? Where has he been all this time when the voters of Virginia were speaking? As for Warner, give me a break. He’s an Obama sycophant. He’s got a statement now on is website echoing Webb’s that says basically, “oh yeah, that sounds like a good idea, me too!” Please Mark …. go put on an other Home Depot apron for a photo-op and pretend you understand the working man.
