Reid: So I bought some senators off, so what?
It’s really pathetic the lengths Obama & Co. will go to pass this monstrosity of a bill. Michelle Malkin covered the neat little deal Ben Nelson got for helping cloture to pass on Sunday. He got a fat little Medicaid payoff. This is in addition to the other senators who got bribed along with Nelson — Chris Dodd, Carl Levin, Bernie Sanders, and so on.
Harry Reid’s response? Yeah, we bought some people off. So what?
“There are 100 senators here and I don’t know that there’s a senator that doesn’t have something in this bill that isn’t important to them,” Reid said. “If they don’t have something in it important to them then it doesn’t speak well of them.”
He likened the legislation to the defense bill, which is thick with earmarks and other provisions benefiting individual members and even private corporations.
“That’s what legislations all about,” Reid said of the compromises.
It’s incredible. Harry Reid will come right out and admit to using taxpayer dollars to bribe senators and manipulate them into voting the way he wants them to. We all knew that this is how Democrats did business, granted, but I’m just shocked that he actually admitted to it. To liberals, the end always justifies the means. No matter how low, how dirty, how shameless, they don’t care — as long as they get what they want.
The sad thing is, this health care bill will cause many of these Democrats to be voted out of office in 2010. This bill is enormously unpopular. It’s getting beaten up on all sides, even by the lefties. And yet, Harry Reid is sitting here joking about how he’s bribing senators to pass it anyways. Constituents be damned! They may hate this bill, but he’ll get it passed by stuffing it chock full of pork and special interest dollars.
No wonder he’s doing so bad in Nevada polling.
