Senate Drops Medicare Buy-In Provision: Lieberman Victory

Let me try to summarize this briefly. Lieberman called Harry Reid’s bluff, and the Democrats’ desperation has been exposed. Obama actually got out of his chair and urged Harry to bribe Joe. Now the public option is gone but the bill is more likely to pass. But now, will the nutroots howl and the bill lose enough liberal votes to complicate things again? Or, are the democrats so desperate to pass anything with the word healthcare in it, they sell out? How will all of this affect next year’s elections? The House bill banned abortion funding, the Senate bill allows it. How do you think this will play out in the end?

How will it play out? Simple – we’re all screwed.

I believe the abortion issue will kill this bill once and for all. The “true believers” will insist on it while the pragmatists will abandon it.
