I can't tell from the Times article, because they don't extensively quote our...errr.... internationally famed president, did President Obama offer to replace the policy allowing gays to serve in the military with something else? Or, did he just say that he would repeal the policy? I ask, because if he repeals the policy only, then it reverts back to the chain-of-command discharging service members for homosexual acts at the discretion of the chain-of-command. Right now, it is at the discretion of the service member. Which is why service terminations went UP under the policy. There is no requirement of proof, just come forward and you can get an honorable discharge. I think it would be highly ironic if the gay activists get exactly what they ask for in the ending of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", but the exact opposite of what they want. “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” allows gays to serve in the military.
