**BREAKING** House Votes to Cut All Funds to ACORN

Posted on September 17, 2009

So says Big Government:

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) offered the Defund-ACORN bill to the Student Loans bill. The House vote overwhelmingly to cut ALL federal funds to ACORN.

Vote: 345 to 75. Complete results here.

Will Obama veto this? Is this vote override proof? Ed Morrissey wonders how long the media will ignore it.

How many newspapers will carry this story tomorrow? How many won’t?

However, as Ameripundit says…more important is the bill this was slipped into. They just nationalized the student loan industry.

The biggest change in U.S. higher education finance in 35 years was approved on Thursday by the House of Representatives, handing a defeat to major banks and student loan giant Sallie Mae.
Lawmakers voted 253-171 in favor of legislation that would cut the banks and Sallie Mae out of a large slice of the $92 billion college student loan business, shifting most lending into a program run by the U.S. Education Department.
The bill, supported by the White House, will go next to the Senate for further consideration.

Michelle Malkin:

Just the beginning. Far from the end.

Dan Riehl:

They could shut down operations tomorrow and Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government has secured its place in New Media and Conservative history right out of the gate. And I wouldn’t bet on their going away.

I did not see Peloci’s vote but else where she followed the tradition of Speakers not to vote on most legislation. It is a convenient tradition but she did speak against ACORN.

The elections of 2010 are near. To all those Democrats who voted against defunding Acorn, thankyou for the wonderful ads the Republicans will have. Moreover, to all you Dems who tried to throw away this TOXIC group-its too late.Your deaths spiral will happen in 2010.

A special shoutout to our “vaunted fourth estate”;Keep ignorinng news that hurts President 44 and his cabal and simultaneously demonize the American People who question the polocies of this President. This is a sure fire way to galvinize the resolve of voters against the President.
