White Student Beaten on School Bus
What is wrong with kids today? I know that is cliche and makes me feel old to say it, but really! Is it a product of the age of entitlement? Why did the driver do nothing to stop this? How gutless! Insanity!
A Belleville West High School student was beaten aboard a bus on the way to school Monday, and a police spokesman said the beating could be racially motivated.
The 17-year-old victim was white and the teen assailants were black. Police released a video of the beating, which shows the victim being punched repeatedly while other students on the bus gather to watch, some cheering. It doesn’t appear that the victim did anything to provoke an attack and tried only to defend himself. Police said it all unfolded in a five-minute span.
The victim was trying to find a seat and was told by two students he could not sit next to them, police said. When he did sit down, one teen tried to push him out of his seat then began grabbing the victim’s neck and punching him in the face.
The victim eventually returned to his seat, but another student began taunting him a few minutes later. The victim was then struck in the face.
It was unclear what, if anything, the bus driver did to stop the attack. Students intervened to help the victim both times.
“In my estimation, it’s racially motivated,” said Capt. Don Sax of the Belleville Police Department. He said one reason he had formed this opinion was that many of the students, most of whom were black, yelled their support for the beating.
“There was absolutely no justification for the beating either time,” Sax said.
Racially motivated? Very probable. Provoked? We’ll find out soon enough. Justifiable? Absolutely not! All those that resorted to violence should be charged and the driver for doing nothing. Are white people covered under the same protection as blacks when hate crimes occur? Where is Al Sharpton when you need him?
I wonder where President Obama will be. He turned his friend Henry Louis Gates’s anti-police temper tantrum into a “teachable moment.” What about this truly appalling incident?

I can’t believe that this would surprise anyone.. anyone.. I’m 58 years old and this has been going on since I was in grade school.. how could this surprise anyone??? has EVERYONE been living under a rock? it’s like a daily ritual.. brush teeth, check.. put that cool shirt on that everyone will comment on and say how cool I am.. check.. gotta gang up on a white kid today.. check..
Yes! Amen, Hog. I was just talking about this with my husband last night… I grew up in the Deep South. Just saying where I’m from illicits cries of ‘racist’ everywhere I go. The irony is – my childhood/teenage years were chock full of being bullied by black kids and white teachers turning a blind-eye to it in fear. Fear of becoming embroiled in some ‘racially charged’ news event.. or fear of being beaten up themselves. For four years of high school we all understood that the girl’s restroom at the front of the school ‘belonged’ to the black girls. Any white girl who entered was beaten. Once a girl was even stabbed. What did the teachers/principal do about this? They told us to stay away from the front restroom. Years later I ran into a high school classmate on Facebook who bemoaned the fact that her high school in the South was so racist that the blacks and whites still had separate bathrooms. (!!!) I think all of us suffer from selective amnesia from time to time.
This is sickening. It reminds me of the beating that happend about a year ago to a girl who was set up by some “friends” when they had her come over to visit and they gang-beat her.
Did this young man go to the hospital? What injuries were sustained? There have to be arrests and prosecutions for such brutality!
To hogtrashhd: yes, this does surprise me – it is that sickening. Does it happen all the time? Perhaps. Does that, then, make it okay? Absolutely not!! Shame on you for making this sound like “big whoop! happens every day!” Trash-talk and vile.
Not racially motivated ? Because the victim was white & the attackers were black? If it were reversed, the victim is black & the attackers are white THEN it’s racially motivated ? Tired of double standards……obvious the kids attacked this boy because he was white, not once but twice he is attacked by BLACKS .. Do hate crimes only occur against blacks? Same as the 2 whites in Tennessee that were carjacked, beaten, raped, killed by all blacks, but it’s not racially motivated, no sir no way…..whites are NEVER victims of racially motivated crimes, only blacks are, or Hispanic, or Chinese, but never whites.
These boys should all be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law…every avenue taken to punish…just as it is when whites attack blacks. Color should not even be an issue, just punish the crime for what it is..

Does sitting on bus seat sound familiar. What if Rosa Parks had been beaten by a group of whites like this? Maybe the whites needs a civil rights march. How about the justice dept? Boy, that a joke. The original writer avoided speculation and seems to take the viewpoint to let the facts come out. Which deserves much credit. However, every poster decided to avoid this and speculate and even make ridiculous claims such as black people wake up in the morning and as calmly as putting on a shirt think about beating up white people, and another person talking about black prejudicial treatment of white people in the South.
I am a victim, not grew up, but a victim of the South. I am not going to even justify the above comments by offering any kind of rebuttal, except public ridicule and this caveat; Please do some research and see if black people ever systematically denied white people the right to education, jobs, homes, freedom, dignity, right to vote, right to live without fear, and used the court system, the political system, and every other governmental entity to deny people of color the right to exist like a normal American citizen.

I agree with you mike. It was the same democratic party of George Wallace that most of the blacks are members of today.
Growing up in Michigan, racial disruptions were all too commmon. Black mother’s protesting their daughters didn’t make the cheerleading team. Black girls attacking us, white girls, our p.e. class for absolutely no reason at all…other than their own parents disdain for what they viewed as unfair treatment of their children not making the team. This has been going on for years. Where is the national outrage? I don’t know. Can you even imagine if a white entertainer would have jumped on stage when Beoynce was getting an award and said someone else, white, deserved it more? Too many questions…not enough answers.
There is a total breakdown in respect for life and morality has gone down the tubes. Can you say Greece and Rome in terms of great society’s entering decline.
Please contact the State’s Attorney’s Office of St. Claire County Illinois and express your concern over the black on white racist school bus beating.
This needs to be prosecuted as a hate crime as it would had it been the other way around.

As others have stated there is a double standard. If this were reversed they would charge the white kids with committing a hate crime. Why isn’t this case a hate crime?????
I’m black and I reside in a highly integrated area of Michigan and what I just saw was total Bull**it. Why everyone including the driver of the bus let that go on I have no idea. Prosecutions are in order if you ask me.
The ONLY way these thugs will be prosecuted with hate crime charges is IF the white kid turns out to be Gay.

Mr. Spencer, I read your comment and I can not help my self but to reply. Yes I have recently been denied a job an income an opportunity by an all black organization call the St. Louis Airport Authority. The organization decides and certifies minorities to perform government jobs. I am a 43 year old white female, I have owned and operated a construction business for 20 years. After working in a male dominated industry for years I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to become certified as women owned business. I must honestly say it was a horrible experience and I don’t think I have ever felt so helpless and discriminated against for being white as I did during the three year process it took for the all black office to be little and then deny me my certification base on their loop hole of how they see the rules. Oh the process was suppose to take 30 days .. when I called the Mayors office to complain they said they had hundreds of complaints, but then the dismissed my complaint. There is something stirring in this country amoung white and blacks and I think thats a good thing if it gets us to the truth. The truth is we have all equally suffered in different ways, and we should all prosper in equally different ways. Its time we are all equal in race and gender. If the politicians/leaders where honest they would say affirmative action worked, and they would do away with it announcing we are all equal and we all have equal opportunities.

This incident bought tears to my eyes. I am a black woman. I am appalled and embarrassed. How dare they do that to this child who wanted to sit down. HOW DARE THEY!! I am so tired of these bullies who believe that in order to be a man one must treat others like crap. I hope they all get punished to the fullest extent of the law. The people who watched it go on, both black and white, from what I saw are also cowards. I have no idea what the bus driver was thinking. I am so sorry for this boy and hope that this doesn’t make him or his family think that all black people behave this way. My son is 17 and he has both black friends and white friends who come into my home and are treated with respect as an individual, not like a scapegoat for what their ancestors may or may not have done. I am truly sorry and I hope this teen gets the justice that he deserves.

Where are Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson voicing their outrage? They’d be climbing the walls on CNN if this were the other way around.
Everyone needs to wake up, when blacks beat on whites, it must be a social problem at the root; when a white says something offensive, but true, about blacks; its a racist statement. Nowadays if you diagree with the President, you are a racist; since Obama has been elected we have seen an increase in “upity” blacks like Kanye West in the Taylor swift incident; the reason he was so upset was because a white person won…stop the double standard and giving blacks the benefit of the doubt each and every time; what would have been the response if ten white kids did the same to one black boy. Blacks are more racist than whites, it is in their speach, talk, music and acts – wake up white america, it’s time to stand up for your rights or keep getting slapped around.
If he was black, they wouldn’t have had problems with him sitting with them. The attack stems back to race.

I am 50 years old and have seen this all of my life. I have lived in the south , north, and out west throughout those years seeing the same results. Never, is there one on one, when a black youth jumped on another at a school function, etc. It may start as one, but within seconds it becomes a pack attacking one individual. Always excuses are made with an occasional slap on the wrist or even worse comments such as the white one deserved it. It happened not too long ago in Louisiana, It happened at a Daphne Middle school in Al. about a year ago. A year ago, Spanish Fort, Al. a white boy had to switch the bus he was riding because of death threats from blacks on the bus. He is well liked by everyone and is very quite and well behaved. What happened to the ones making the threats. NOTHING. MY son was jumped from behind when he was getting off the bus by a black kid. My son was called to the office and was talked to and told the boy would be suspended. He was on the bus the next day and every other day after. So you say none of this is Racially motivated. BS There are good Black people and good White people. The problem is they stand by and let the Bad Black people terrorize, and yes that is the correct word, the rest of the country. No one owes you anything because you are Black, there are a lot of other people who have suffered just as much as you have. You however, would prefer rather than to correct the situation in a positive manner look to create as much unrest in an offensive destructive manner liken a child throwing a temper tantrum. To this I say, GROW UP, SUCK UP, GET UP , show people what you are really made of and make a POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION to society, Leave something that your children and grandchildren can be proud of. To Michael Spencer I’m sure some posts are a bit over the top with statements, but yours isn’t much better. I’m saddened about this video, it is definitely race related. Had any of the black kids asked to sit next to the CRIMINALS they would have allowed it. And then for it to escalate into such violent behaviors is unbelievable. I actually felt more racist watching this video than ever before in my life. I wanted to run home and warn my children what could happen and to always avoid being alone with another race. Thank God someone finally had enough heart to stop it, but he’s NOT A TRUE hero or he would’ve stopped the 1st brutal beating. It’s like a pack of animals surrounding its prey. You state “do some research” How about all black colleges and universities, how about Miss Black America and Miss Black USA, how about Congressional Black Caucus, how about Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, etc, etc, etc. I could go on and on naming such places. I cried when I watched the video of the teenage boy beating the other teenage boy. We need Spiritual Revolution in our nation.I prayed for the beaten boy first and then the other one. We have not evolved..we were created in the image and likeness of God. but as you can see we lost the image and likeness of God because of spiritual death. You have just witnessed the birth of a racist with a cause. This kid being beat “WILL” grow up and the scar of this attack burned into his soul. Unless someone of color with significance and a true heart comes to speak to him and deplore the actions of his attackers and those who cheered it on. There won’t a jury in the land that is going to convict him when he comes to school or that same school bus packin heat and getting some justice from these punks. My heart goes out to this young man and we pray for his soul. He is damaged goods now as this will never go away. I will watch, as will others, and cheer the day when he extracts his vengence.
Has this happened to blacks too? Sure it has and those doing the same deserve punishment as well, but this violence does not even the score.. it just ups the stakes. Where is the F’n leadership. This video proved that when Obama became president..black people got the idea in their head that they have authority over this country now!I am only 18 years old and in my 10th grade year of high school I was verbally attacked by around 10-15 black people for simply defending my cousin when they were saying things about him!!Well they decided not to simply end with verbal harrassment but later that day when i got off the bus my busdriver allowed every single person to get off at my bus stop when they were already carloads of kids waiting!!!There were 2 black grls that decided they wanted to fight me and i had never fought anyone before but instead they attacked my cousins gf who was my best friend!!!They were banging her head in the concrete when i jumped in and eventually it got worse and I realized that they were about 5 black boys yelling and threatening my grandmother!!!When i got in their face they threatened to hurt me…but my grandma pretended to call the cops and they all ran!!!Well needless to say i never rode the bus again and the 2 grls along with the 5 boys continued to harrass me at school by throwing rocks at me and calling me and fata** white grl!!!Through all of that the black people never got in trouble and it really made me see the double standard in our country!!!So i truly feel for this boy in the video…hopefully standards for blacks hurting whites will change soon bc as of right now the govenrment simply turns the other cheek when it happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
