Do you know what happens when an American administration starts off by offending the Queen, the British P.M., the British press, and the British people as a whole? Then decides it is going to get all snappy over an issue? Yeah, they’ll get a nasty response from the British leaders (H/T Atlas Shrugs)
Downing Street has hit back at Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for attacking the decision to release the Lockerbie bomber.
President Obama and the US Secretary of State fuelled a fierce American backlash against Britain, claiming Abdelbaset Al Megrahi should have been forced to serve out his jail sentence in Scotland – but a senior Whitehall aide said their reaction was ‘disingenuous’.
British officials claim Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were kept informed at all stages of discussions concerning Megrahi’s return.
The officials say the Americans spoke out because they were taken aback by the row over Megrahi’s release, not because they did not know it was about to happen.
‘The US was kept fully in touch about everything that was going on with regard to Britain’s discussions with Libya in recent years and about Megrahi,’ said the Whitehall aide.
As Pam Gellar puts it, “What does it say about your President that he signed off on the release of a Muslim terrorist who took down Pan Am flight 103, killing 270 people, while at the same time going after CIA agents protecting this nation?”
Shockingly, I can’t find this story in any of the reports by the liberal MSM. Nothing in the Times, Washington Post, LA Times, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, Boston Globe, or any of the other Usual Suspects. They all seem to be focusing on Obama’s “crucial moment” for his upcoming speech on Wednesday, once again interrupting prime time television (not that there is really anything on to start with)
President Obama returned to the White House from his summer break (WT: which he took after taking a vacation) on Sunday determined to jump-start his struggling presidency by reasserting command of the health care debate and recalibrating expectations that some advisers believe got away from him. Now, as he prepares for Wednesday’s address before a joint session of Congress, Mr. Obama and his team are simultaneously trying to figure out how they got into this dilemma and how to get out of it. An administration that swept into office just seven months ago on a wave of hope and optimism has burned through good will and public patience in swift fashion and now finds itself under fire from both the left and the right.
Will they get out of it? Doubtful. So many of these stories, including the above one by the Times, are no longer cheerleader stories. I dare say that the media themselves are realizing that there is a vast difference between campaigning and actual governance. Over 7 months later, and Obama and his team still haven’t figured out the governance thing.
But, they have figured out how to smear CIA agents and damage Intelligence operations while signing off on the release of a terrorist.

This event should be the end of President44. Just imagine if President43 did this-the MSM crowd would have blaring headlines about the Presidents duplicity and profits for oil…ad nauseum.
The real problem is the abandonment of the first amendment by the “fourth estate” in pusuit of Obama and his cabal to be elected.The collective heads knew that voting present was not a qualification for being President.These cowards will only shield the President .The Irony of this is blogs such as this will fill the void left by the journalists who have failed to inform the public from governmental abuse.Moreover,the more strident the msm and the government carps about these blogs the power of these collective posts grow.
This is a great post… wouldn’t be surprising to see Emanuel shown the door when the ObamaCare debacle is all said and done, eh?
But wait… You wanted Obama to oppose al-Megrahi’s release. He did oppose it. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, I guess.
“Able”: I believe the whole point is that he DIDN’T oppose the realease, and that he knew about it all along. The way the “special relationship” with Britain worked (before the Holy One destroyed it) was that the Brits would never have taken a step like the release of this mass-murderer without the knowledge and approval of the U.S. We have done likewise vis-a-vis Britain.
There are two dynamics at work here: (1) Obama is a lying crapweasel who has got caught up in his own web of lies, and (2) Gordon Brown is getting some of his own back after numerous snubs and knifes in the back from this administration.
What goes around comes around.
Obama didn’t oppose his release; in fact, Gaddhafi is planning to sit in the backyards of the Lockerbie bomber victims in New Jersey and thumb his nose at them from his air-conditioned Bedouin tent.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama gave him a flyover above Manhattan, too.
He is giving all kinds of positive signs to the Islamofascists we’ve been fighting, indeed – it appears he is one himself with all the fascist takeover of industry he’s been busying himself with.
