Ah, remember the good old days, when people on the Left flipped out and lied about a program to monitor communications from overseas to known and suspected Islamic terrorists without a warrant? Remember when the left pitched hissy fits over the Bush administration gathering information about phone call patterns from the telecoms, which included simply names? Remember when they went ballistic over a Pentagon plan to scour the Internet for suspicious patterns that could uncover terrorist plots, a year and a half after 9/11? Oh, how times change
NLPC has uncovered a plan by the White House New Media operation to hire a technology vendor to conduct a massive, secret effort to harvest personal information on millions of Americans from social networking websites.
The information to be captured includes comments, tag lines, emails, audio, and video. The targeted sites include Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and others – any space where the White House “maintains a presence.”
In the course of investigating procurement by the White House New Media office, NLPC discovered a 51-page solicitation of bids that was filed on Friday, August 21, 2009. Filed as Solicitation # WHO-S-09-0003, it is postedat FedBizzOps.com. Click here to download a 51-page pdf of the solicitation.
First we had the fishy snoop email fiasco, then the email spam issue. Now this. All in less than a month. And the response from those on the Left, including the ACLU? “Yawn. No big deal. You have to just trust Barry, cause he is just so cute and fuzzy!” For a Party that says (snicker) they believe in privacy, the Democrats sure have no problem getting creative to spy on Americans without a warrant.
Anyone expect the MSM to get involved, like when Bush was president and attempting to protect the USA from another terrorist attack?
And don’t forget about all of Obama’s plans to indoctrinate kids and use them to spy on adults, including their parents.
For someone who’s approval polls are tanking, including among independents, he sure seems to find more and more creative ways to tick the American people off, eh?

Which brings us to the common-sense check on the rumor. How much time and resources would it take to effectively monitor every entry on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and every blog in the blogosphere? And to do that secretly, while archiving all of it? The NSA would have to take that on full time, and even then … best of luck just keeping up with the archiving, let alone surveillance.
Still the point of hypocrisy remains. If this would have been done on Bush’s watch the ACLU would have had a full page ad in the NY Times scaring Americans in efforts for donations.
