How Low Will Obama Go?
Yesterday, Zogby’s poll showed Obama with a 42% approval rating. Today Rassmussen give similar results with a 45% approval rating, the lowest on this poll as of yet.
Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That’s down a point from yesterday and the lowest level of total approval yet measured for Obama. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove. …
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11[.]
Congress has to be watching this decline with a great deal of trepidation. Those facing constituents next year had hoped to rely on a popular President to garner turnout and discourage competition. How many of them will be running away from Obama a year from now rather than with him?
Obama supporter David Brooks calls it the Obama slide and offers advice for him to govern from the center. I doubt he’ll take the advice.
The result is the Obama slide, the most important feature of the current moment. The number of Americans who trust President Obama to make the right decisions has fallen by roughly 17 percentage points. Obama’s job approval is down to about 50 percent. All presidents fall from their honeymoon highs, but in the history of polling, no newly elected American president has fallen this far this fast.
Dick Morris asks, how low will he go?
How long will Obama cling to the wreckage of his healthcare proposals? Does he plan on going down with the ship all the way to the mid-30s in job approval as Bush did with Iraq? Will he take his party down with him? Will the party let itself be taken down?
Unless the messiah performs a miracle it’s starting to look good for Republicans in 2010.

Would you report on Sarah Palin speaking in September at the CLSA Investment Forum? I saw it on Fox News but others don’t believe it is true.
President44 has proven to most Americans that voting present does not prepare one for being Chief Executive. Moreover, to list his gaffes, miserable instincts,Czar appointments, and lack of leadership from Icestorms of Kentucky ,floods in Iowa or fires in California,ad nauseum would take days to write.
The real problem is the media whores who promote and shield this President.Without it 30% would be 15%.
Do not underestimate the ability of Obama to recover. And, don’t put too much stock in a Republican recovery until someone as personable but less polarizing as Plain comes along.
Obama isn’t polarizing?
