Gingrich Defends Palin on ‘Death Panels’

Posted on August 9, 2009

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obviously ABC’s George Stephanapoulos tried to get former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to trash Sarah Palin, but the wily former Speaker wasn’t having any of that noise.

After Stephanapoulos read Governor Palin’s comments about the “evil” of a government system that would tell its patients to die instead of helping them live, Speaker Gingrich reminds us all that Obama is asking us to “trust the government” on communal standards which will set up a system where bureaucrats decide what healthcare we are “allowed” to have. The former Speaker also reminds us that these standards are a dangerous road down which to travel and that euthanasia is a likely outcome of bureaucrats deciding who is worth getting healthcare and who isn’t.

Visit ABC News to see the video.

Gingrich is right and so is Palin on this issue. Do we really want to hand this government, the one that cannot even govern a “cash for clunkers” program correctly, to make decisions on who is allowed to live and who will have to die?

I know I don’t. No matter who is in charge in Washington, I don’t want my government deciding who is worthy enough to be allowed to get healthcare.

I couldn’t agree more. Another Czar who decides who gets healthcare and who doesn’t!!! All part of a healthcare program which increases coverage, eliminates exclusions and will still cost less with no tax increases except for the rich. Sounds like a pipe dream unless a whole lot of people (old?) suddenly have much less coverage. Is that the change we want?

It is not okay for the government to make decisions about your health care, but it is okay to have private insurance and pharmaceutical companies who are motivated by profit to make them. You “deathers” are totally nuts.

I MAY accept government supplied health care on one condition:

ALL government employees MUST use the government supplied insurance.
    NO EXCEPTIONS!!
    This includes congress especially!

If they want additional insurance coverage they must pay for it themselves.

Why is no one screaming that congress must use the same plan as they are offering the rest of us?

    P.S.
I suspect that Senator Robert Byrd would have been given the “time to terminate” speech about ten times by now under this new “health care” system.

You should make your own decisions on healthcare, not the goverment, or the insurance or pharmaceutical companies.

We have a Black Panther in a suit in the White House.

The nation will be ready for Palin in 2012. They are not ready yet; too many white idiots have flirted with the idea of government control over everything but they will come back to their senses and realize like most people over college age, that socialism just doesn’t work. It works for college professors, who are after all, government employees with guarenteed employment (tenure).

Palin is a commoner who worked her way up – not a pampered prince like Barry, who never worked a day in his life and was mentored by radicals, communists, mooslims, etc.

Palin is red, white and blue – not the green of Islam and Kenya and Indonesia, the way al Hussein is.

When unemployment tops 10% and 11%, which it will next year, Barry-boy just might be run out of office. He will have to go crying back to the media wh*res who have slept with him all these many months. We have no economic growth and won’t have any because Obama is anti-business.

But as Lincoln said…..You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of the people, all of the time.

Bryan…….I posed that question in an email to the Prez and requested a reply.
Guess what…..no reply as of today!

Congress do as I say but don’t expect me to

Good for Gingrich. Palin opened up a whole new front on this one. And Gingrich is helping provide the intellectual underpinning.

Maybe what passes this year will not involve a life ande death decisionmaking panel. But it will lay in place the mechanism for that over the long term. The core problem is that the decisions will become strictly political ones. Those will the stronger lobbies will get getter care.

It’s an issue which should not be taken so lightly by the Democrats. Is it that hard to imagine a panel being stacked with homophobes in the future deciding that treating HIV in homosexuals is simply an expense we cannot bear? Or maybe sickle cell anemia? Once we have given that power and authority to the government for the whole country, we are on a slippery slope indeed.

If all options for health care are eliminated save government care, the opportunity for such abuse becomes manifold.

The arrogance displayed by the snake oil salesman and his CARTEL, may be an effective marketing tool to manipulate and intimidate the sheep, but “WE THE PEOPLE” (including more than 50 million who didn’t vote for the empty suit) will not buy their lies. We do not accept that a dead-brained-liberal-burocrat decides about our healthcare. JUST SAY NO TO OBAMA’S SOCIALIST PLANS !

i dont know why this idiot win the white house anyway!! obama is a racist and acorn and all them msnbc , abc, cnn, nbc , etc. are all bias … all this czar that idiot obama appointed is all communist .

Repeating Gingrich’s lies don’t actally substantiate Palin’s. Other conservatives (Rick Moran) point out the disingenuousness of Gingrich.

Neither Palin nor Gingrich seem aware that people are dropping dead from lack of care due to the “death panel” bureaucrats in the insuance companies’ employ on the mediical review boards, control of mediation, their actuarial divisions, and built into their lifetime caps on cost, not to mention all those not covered at all and too broke from thair chronic illnesses to pay out of pocket.

But I can’t believe anyone here expected an honest evaluation of Gingrich and Palin, or health care legislation.

Palins right. You say medical review boards decide.Does not your doctor and his patient make that treatment decision?Sure demonize the insurance companies, after all that is your new stratigy.Since saying the best HC system in the world is broken hasnt worked period. There are insurance companies out there offering full coverage. With no pre existing condition denial.Such as Cinergy health for 10 dollars per day,per family of 4.Palin wants vouchers for low income familys, state purchase regs removed, tort reform.Really you should go to her facebook page and actually read the statements, articles, she has bein releasing on HC,before you speculate. It is very interesting dems say there is no plan.Yet a bill HB 1000,was the one they were frantically trying to ram through(like the stmulus)before America could read it.Remember before aug break, pass this bill. Now he has changed the name to insurance reform(bogus)sent out his union thugs to get in the faces of old an disabled people,as well as asking them to be snitches. You say why are people protesting, asking questions? After seeing him say things like no lobbyists in my admin, then passing an exemption, for some to join.Singhing a 9,000 earmark bill behind closed doors, loaded with pet projects.Seeing him say no communication from my administration with lobbyists, then reversing. With the stimulus unemployment wont go over 8%,its over that by far.Can you blame people for asking questions?Or saying like that lady did to Spector, all your gov programs are broke. An you want to run 1/6 of the economy as well?People know this is big labor wanting another big massive union. That can as in other countries strike.(IF REPUBS ARE IN POWER DURING ELECTION YEARS)Cause huge problems, cause huge legacy costs, and be the mammouth of all tax burdens. The death pannels,(deciding who gets what) rationing, care quality decreases, all follow.
