Obama Approval Numbers Drop Below 50%

Posted on July 24, 2009

Update: Uh Oh, Zogby has Obama at 48% approval! No one but himself to blame.

The people are speaking, and they are saying it’s time to stop blaming Bush for Obama’s failures. The “we inherited the problem and stalled it” spiel isn’t cutting it. Americans are now putting the responsibility of the economy squarely on Obama’s shoulders. It isn’t looking pretty either. He now dips below 50% on approval, and only 30% strongly approve.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8.
Just 25% believe that the economic stimulus package has helped the economy. …
Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Today marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

This has got to be a record speed on nosedives!

Ed Morrissey:

It marks the first time that Obama has gone underwater since he started his remarkable run for the presidency in early 2007. Undoubtedly, voters have now put the responsibility for the economy squarely on Obama’s shoulders after six months of worsening indicators. The steep decline in support for his health-care bill represents in part a lack of confidence in his ability to deliver after the failure of the massive stimulus package, which he promised would put America back to work.

Hopefully this continuing shift in public opinion will embolden the GOP to filibuster both Cap-n-Tax and Obamacare right into the ground if either of these seriously flawed pieces of far-left legislation hobble their way on to the Senate.

And it’s surely in the nations’ interest that this arrogant montebank be knocked-down a peg or two… it’s becoming more than obvious that Team Obama’s radical agenda and ludicrous spending is not only completely out-of-control… but this ideological binge at a time that calls for pragmatic management isn’t what a lot of independents and moderate Democrats voted for last fall either.
