Obama Attacks More Private Citizens During Prime Time Presser
OK, I’ll admit, I did not listen to that much of the “it’s not about me, but, hey, look at me, I’m Thee President” prime time campaign stop. I tuned out while driving to get dinner not long after I heard him say
- I’m the president, this MUST get done
- and then yammering on about the people needing protection from medicals and the insurance industry. I’m just wondering, what about protection from the government, when it comes to health issues?
After that, I had a hankering to listen to Deep Purple’s Perfect Strangers for some reason.
Anyhow, Dr. Melissa Clouthier has a good time-line of the snoozefest. It seems that none of the journalist who are allowed to ask questions of Thee President manage to ask exactly how these plans will save money. We know
- Who: far left progressives/marxists/socialists/fascists
- What: fundamentally change the way Americans receive health care services and insurance and supposedly reduce costs
- Where: America
- When: before people realize how insane this whole plan is
- How: ?????????? No one knows. No one is saying. Everything says this will cost way more, and the only way to reduce costs is by reducing payments from the government for Medicare and Medicaid, which means more and more doctors will opt out, and will not take the government option insurance, and, let’s not forget rationing.
Well, on to my betters. William Kristol had this to say
President Obama spent most of his press conference tonight denying what President Kennedy famously affirmed — that to govern is to choose. Obama promised us health care this is at once better and cheaper, with both more regulation and more freedom to choose, featuring an assurance that government won’t limit our care and a commitment to a government panel that will save money by restricting care.
The juvenile happy talk reached its peak with this presidential statement: “If there’s a blue pill and a red pill, and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half price for the thing that’s going to make you well?” Now, there’s a good idea. Why hasn’t anyone else thought of that? For this reform, we need to spend $1 trillion?
So on health care, I’d be surprised if the president changed any minds, because he never seriously tried to address criticism of his proposal on the merits.
He should get a quick bump, as many have pointed out, in his personal polls, but, doubtful for his health care plans. Sidebar: do you remember the media polling on Bush’s personal’s, versus his plans? Yeah, me neither.
First, Obama offered this example of how doctors make decisions under the current system instead of doing what’s in their patients’ best interests:
Right now, doctors a lot of times are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule that’s out there. So if they’re looking and you come in and you’ve got a bad sore throat or your child has a bad sore throat or has repeated sore throats, the doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, “You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kid’s tonsils out.”
Does Obama really think pediatricians knowingly order unnecessary tonsillectomies in order to “make a lot more money?” Isn’t this a rather casual slander of a lot of doctors? And in any case, is this what’s driving up health-care costs? It’s probably as likely health-care costs are high because hospitals have too many vice presidents for government relations making $300,000 a year. But I wouldn’t think it appropriate for the president to single them out for attack either.
So, yet again, Thee President is insulting private citizens.
And, let’s not forget that he attacked a police officer, as well.

No, doctors are forced to do things because the malpractice insurance rates are incredible. This is due to the tort lawyers suing for everything. funny how the new plan does not mention tort reform as part of the health care package. The doctors would be within their rights if they refuse to service tort lawyers or their families. When your ill, who will you rather see? A doctor or a lawyer?
I wish the EPA was dysfunctional. They cost jobs among the working class out west. To save fish under one inch long, they shut down the use of the nearby water causing farms to shut down. It was astonishing to see grown men in tears as they lost their livelihoods. How dare they? Who are these EPA drones and shouldnt we the people vote on such issues before they affect out fellow citizens? The lovely enviro nuts halted the use of DDT in Africa and now millions of Africans have died of malaria. or maybe that is what they were hoping for. So to the Chimp poster above – I have not much use for the EPA in its current fascist form.

No doubt “personal’s [sic]” referred to President Obama’s job approval polling as opposed to the polling regarding his handling of particular issues, most notably health care. I too don’t remember polling on GWB’s (or prior presidents’) handling of particular issues.
“Yeah, me neither” is a common colloquialism. This is a blog post, not a doctoral dissertation. (Actually, the grammatically correct sentence would be “No, neither do I.”)
Stupid Obama doesn’t know a [edited] thing about how the medical system works, just like he doesn’t have a clue how the stock market works.
1. The pediatrician may recommend a tonsillectomy – actually the ones around here shy away from it, though at one time, like the early 60s, tonsillectomies were like carpal tunnel surgery was for awhile, all the rage – but the pediatrician DOES NOT perform the surgery or get the fee for that. In fact, the pediatrician recommends you see an ear nose and throat specialist. And, again, at last here, they are very respectful of your right to choose.
2. A tonsillectomy is not an expensive operation – at least the one my daughter had did not even meet our $5,000 deductible, so we got to pay for that on top of our $900 a month insurance premium. AND, on top of that, if you have insurance, the hospital, anesthesiologist, and surgeon all accept vastly reduced payment from the insurance company.
3. In my daughter’s case, the tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy saved her hearing, and prevented devastating ear infections.
I was very impressed with the quality of care we received – and most especially by the ear nose and throat specialist.
We have made incredible advancements in medicine, it is really astounding, I guess Obama doesn’t know that.
He held that press conference in order to put his talking points into the record and obscure the truth. Despicable. Luckily, he fell flat on his face. Even the media isn’t buying it.
Tort reform, salaried doctors, increase sanctions and oversight on fraud, figure out how we can subsidize the uninsured from the money we save from reform.
No socialized medicine.
We, the American people, can reform our own health care.
How much could this cost maybe a couple billion? I,for one, will throw in a couple thousand of my tax dollars to start looking for good consultants and lawyers.
