Not just for Sarah Palin, who clearly has been wounded by the haters and nitwits on the internet and in mainstream media. It applies to anyone who has considered running for office at any level. Who wants to expose themselves or their families to the garbage tossed at candidates anymore? It's no accident that the hate sites like DailyKos and MoveOn.org are populated and read by the under 30 crowd. That's who's on the internet. As you go up on the age scale, internet use drops off, and the old school folks just don't have the knowledge to fight back using the tools the young'uns use. By the way - did anyone else entertain the fantasy that Palin might be involved in starting a 3rd party? This reads more like an obituary than a blog post.
