Mary Matalin: Brilliant! Palin is the Queen of Energy

Posted on July 5, 2009

Of course we are looking at a holiday weekend in which no one is talking about anything but Sarah Palin. A liberal blog, Crooks and Liars, brings us the other side of the argument that there is a plan against the status quo and conventional wisdom.

MATALIN: Well, I think it’s really brilliant, with two caveats, one being that there’s nothing else, ala the Sanford fiasco. There’s nothing else that we don’t know. If all that’s there is what we see right now, it’s brilliant.
And, secondly, that she has a plan and people have a plan to put up with the conventional wisdom, chatterati and the political class saying how stupid it is, because it’s brilliant.

On the substance, there’s the key economic issue — I know everyone says — thinks it’s health care, but it’s really energy. And she’s the queen of energy.

And the second big issue for 2012 will be the role of government. And she has a record of reform and ethics reform and making government smaller and reigning in spending — all those issues that are getting increasingly important as Barack Obama expands on his agenda.

So — and her delivery was incredible — a charis — a less charismatic person probably couldn’t pull it off. But as — as already referenced, she will be freed up and liberated in the way Mitt Romney is here to run around and raise money and get political chips by spending it and get political capital. And she is still raising the kinds of crowds and money that she always did.

Most folks I know are saying to not write Sarah off. All conventional wisdom is saying she made a bad move, but all the unconventional normal folks in my life says not to write her off. I’m at a stalemate on it all. We will see, is all I can say.

Hey, I got flak for simply gathering up opinions on this from the conservative blogs. The available opinions at the time were not so nice. I remained neutral and will remain so until I learn more. Don’t paint me with the opinions I gather, please. I have no idea…I’m just riding the wave and figuring it out as it happens. I’m not one of those guys who have been around for years and pretends to know what they are talking about. It was a shock, and I’m still digesting it. No one pretending to know actually knows. Everyone stating opinions right now are simply speculating.

Why has her decision cost her anything but having to deal with the untenable drain on her finances and ability to function effectively?

I WOULD VOTE FOR SARAH ANY DAY. PERIOD.

I hope the GOP gets that through its collective head.

We Conservatives will NOT ALLOW ANOTHER MCCAIN CANDIDATE. PERIOD.

It wasn’t the conventional decision, but then again conventional politicians are the ones who put this country in the position it is today. Since she made this decision I truly think she is the one politician on either side that has the actual guts to change things, not just use it as a campaign slogan

Gov. Sarah Palin should have run for Governor of Alaska in 2010 for second term. She really need some more experience and skills if she does run for President in 2012. It is too early to tell who might run in 2012. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee won’t get the nominee in 2012. They are not conservative. I don’t agree with Mary Matalin.

Palin’s move puts yet more pressure on Obama to finally get some results, as the soaring rhetoric isn’t hypnotizing the plebes like it used to. This week Helen Thomas, Colin Powell, and Warren Buffet all turned on him. Polls are looking droopy for The One lately.

Obama’s porkulus program is a train wreck, all it’s done is bump interest rates and tank the dollar. We are being laughed at by bad guys like Tehran, Pyongyang, and Al Qaida who amazingly turned-down Barack’s friend-requests.

Palin could trounce him in 2012, when Americans would vote for the Gipper-in-Heels in droves- while begging for lower taxes, free enterpise, a defense posture with some backbone… an end to the radical, anti-American nightmare we’ve got now.

    Go get ‘em Sarah-

I find it interesting that Chris Wallace and others at Fox News, as well as other obama networks, are stating opinions that they are not buying what she is doing. What critics are saying is nothing but speculation. Comment on the facts and not what you think is the truth. Now, lets see obama barely served in the senate and was a community organizer. He is friends with wright, ayers, etc. and the media bows down before him and worships him and asks no questions about it, that I have heard. Sarah breaths and the critics are out and about. obama, to them, is the perfect god. Sarah, you have many people here that support you. It is time the obama media stops bowing down to him and start doing their job, or they will need a chiropracter.

I think her move is brilliant, she has out-foxed the left. Now, she is a free to speak her mind without the threat of ethics complaints and “politics as usual” from her foes on the left. She not only has class and charisma, she has conviction, something that this nation has seen little of since Ronald Reagan.

If anyone paid attention to Sarah Palin’s history then they would know she has used this tactic before to get around an obstacle when she resigned from the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. After she resigned she came out swinging. Her enemies seem not to have realized that she has already struck the first blow by basically appointing the person who will govern Alaska for the next year and a half. This is a man she has had a chance to teach and mentor. That makes her a king maker at the governor level already and she is free now to put other people she chooses in positions of power. In addition she can raise money in order to aid there campaigns. I also expect her to sue someone over defamation because there is some fool out there who will step over the line.

I am not sure she intends to run for President because I believe she views advancing her conservative agenda as more important.
