Sarah Palin on Obama’s Stimulus Failure: Told Ya So

Posted on June 8, 2009

Guess who’s back? From a Sean Hannity interview tonight:

HANNITY: What do you make of – look at the state of the economy now…
PALIN: Well, when you consider that the federal government is about eleven trillion dollars in debt, and we’re borrowing more to spend more.. it defies any sensible economic policy that any of us ever learned through college. It defies economy practices and principles that tell ya ‘you gotta quit digging that hole when you are in that financial hole’

Palin continues:

“America is digging a deeper hole and how are we paying for this government largesse. We’re borrowing. We’re borrowing from China and we consider that now we own sixty percent of GENERAL MOTORS – or the U.S. government does… But who is the U.S. government becoming more indebted to? It’s China. So that leads you to have to ask who is really going to own our car industry than in America.”

HANNITY: You know but it goes back – It does go back a little to the campaign. I mean, ’spread the wealth, patriotic duty…’

PALIN: Kind of a ‘we told ya so’.

HANNITY: Well, is that how you feel?

PALIN: That’s how I feel! I feel like… and I think that more and more constituents are going to open their eyes now and open their ears to hear what is really going on and realize ok… Maybe we didn’t have a good way of expressing that, or articulating that message of ‘here is what America could potentially become if we grow government to such a degree that we cannot pay for it and we have to borrow money from other countries, some countries that don’t necessarily like America.

And this many months into the new administration, quite disappointed, quite frustrated with not seeing those actions to rein in spending, slow down the growth of government. Instead Sean it is the complete opposite. It’s expanding at such a large degree that if Americans aren’t paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize.

This should get really good. As much as the left frantically tried to smear her and write her off, she is going to be a force to be reckoned with. If she is already able to strongly make a case of Obama failing, and clearly show how she tried to warn us this early into Obama’s administration she will be a thorn in the liberal side from here on out. If she plays everything right she could come out as an unstoppable candidate.

Obama should wear the words: EARLY FAILURE! At least on his ridiculous stimulus plan.

Hot Air digs up some of the warnings:

But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed … when the roar of the crowd fades away … when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot — what exactly is our opponent’s plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger … take more of your money … give you more orders from Washington … and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world…
Taxes are too high … he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.
The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes … raise payroll taxes … raise investment income taxes … raise the death tax … raise business taxes … and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars…
How are you going to be better off if our opponent adds a massive tax burden to the American economy?

Indeed the warnings ring true. Sadly enough Americans didn’t listen in time. Fortunately, its starting to look like they are awakening to the ugly truth.

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of 10 key issues, including the top issue of the economy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.

This is the first time in over two years of polling that the GOP has held the advantage on this issue. The parties were close in May, with the Democrats holding a modest 44% to 43% edge. The latest survey was taken just after General Motors announced it was going into bankruptcy as part of a deal brokered by the Obama administration that gives the government majority ownership of the failing automaker.

Voters not affiliated with either party now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues by a two-to-one margin.

Ace:

Is Obama, as is sometimes earnestly suggested, truly divine and magical, possessed of the ability to create wealth and suspend the normal laws of mathematics according to his deific will?

And that was the con. He told the public something that ought to have set their bulls**t detectors ringing. But every good con relies on wish fulfillment to make it work. They wanted to believe the flat-out ridiculous — more free stuff with lower tax rates than we’ve ever managed in all of history! — and so they did.

But now comes the exposure of the swindle, this bait-and-switch. And it’s going to dawn on them that this notion — more free stuff and lower taxes too! — never made a damn lick of sense, and someone is at fault for this swindle.

The Repubs have nothing but negative ads….
They’re digging a deeper and deeper hole to die in. The money class, insurance companies, bankers, health insurance companies are scared of losing the ironclad grip they had over the American people and the only thing they can do is scream about the horrors of Obama.
Their program is bankrupt. How pathetic.
Enough of the people have woken up to their long-running scam.

Does everyone forget that the stimulis package was passed on GW Bushs last months in office and all Ombama is doing is trying to distribute it. I am really tired of all the criminal republicans and their big mouths. If they do not like it pack your bags and hit the road.
I am tired of all the conservatives bashing the unions. How would you like it if we tore up your employment contract and said we’ll re do it.
All you people want to do is blame everyone but who got us in this mess.
And don’t tell me it was Freddie and Fannie they are secondary mortgage market the bad loans where already made it is not their job to redo the orginal paperwork.
If it wasn’t that wall street was so greedy.
I am also tired of you all saying that a CEO is worth multimillion dollar salaries the is no one on the god greens earth worth that.
Its a joke to think they are.
You republicans stayed quite while Bush ran this country into the ground now you can shut your piehol;es up now

Bush had already allocated 1.4 Billion in stimulus just before he left office and if the Republicans had got back in they probably would have continued throwing money down the toilet too…..

It’s so easy for them to just stand at the sidelines now and say “told you so” Palin can’t even speak English so at which college did she become such an expert on Economics?

How about people remembering that the USA was already about 9 Trillion in debt before Bush came in to office and he spent about 2 Trillion on unnecessarily wars.

USA has been loosing grip on it’s global economic significance for over 25 years (and it will continue to do so as it’s imperialistic empire wanes) – just get used to it Palin lovers.

    Jacklee, Peter, Sue, and Larry,

It is obvious to me after reading each of your posts that you are all somewhat misinformed. The poor grammar and spelling was difficult to read, and not one of you could produce any shred of evidence that Governor Palin has a problem speaking English, but I digress.

So let me address a couple of fallacies included in your pseudo-rants.

    1. Jack said, “Do the previous government take blame including palin take blame for the mess the country is in.” (what kind of sentence is that btw??)

Answer: Governor Sarah Palin did not have any jurisdiction to make any decisions regarding that stimulus bill, nor was she allowed a vote on that bailout that put our country in current dire straits we are in. That was congress, and the executive branch. She is a Governor, which is basically the president of her state. She oversees the Alaskan Senate, and the Alaskan House of Representatives, but that is COMPLETELY different than the Federal Senate and House. Sorry, but try again genius.

    2. Jack said, “health care so much americans who is working do not have health care do you know why because the marjority of people working for agency who pocketed the money for their own benifit and do not even pay when their worker go on jury duties. Those employers should be responsible for their workers health care you work and work with out no benifit what so ever.” (I’m guessing English is not your first language.)

Answer: There is no reliable data that backs up your claim. The majority of people working full time are offered some type of health coverage, and if they are married or living with a significant other who works full time, they have the choice of either health plan. If they are contract workers there is usually not health insurance offered, but the employers usually sweeten the deal by paying them a little more, so the employee can buy their own insurance. This is one of the big reasons that contract pay is higher because most employers consider your benefits as part of your pay. Kind of why they are called BENEFITS, seeeeeee? Now, if the foolish employee is pocketing that money and then complaining he cannot get his free health insurance (which is NOT free mind you), that is not the employer’s fault! The employer offered and paid the contract worker the extra padding in his paycheck to take care of that. The worker has the responsibility, see? If they don’t want to work contract anymore, because of lack of health insurance, then they have the option of finding a full time regular job with benefits. Although the take home pay will be less because now the employer AND the employee are making equal contributions to pay for the (NOT FREE) health insurance.

Part time workers are NOT usually offered health insurance because they do not get paid enough with PT hours to contribute into the health plan. The employers would end up loosing money on that PT worker and the PT workers check would be too low to live on after the health insurance expenses are removed. You see, the full time guy and the part time guy still pays the same amount to buy health insurance. I cannot believe I have to explain this, but it is not prorated according to how much you make.

As far as jury duty goes, in my 20+ years of being in the work force, I have never had an employer that paid for jury duty. Unless I was willing to use my vacation pay to supplement for my missed day of work.

    3. Sue said, “…companies are scared of losing the ironclad grip they had over the American people and the only thing they can do is scream about the horrors of Obama.
    Their program is bankrupt.”

Answer: I am glad someone is screaming about the horrors of obamacorn. God knows the media is not going to do its job. That so called ‘ironclad grip’ will seem like a velvet glove once obamacorn gets a hold of you. Just remember all those bankrupt companies also employed millions of Americans, and they became bankrupt through a combination of corrupt repub AND democrat rule. Hence the 9.4% unemployment rate (The worse we’ve had since the Carter administration btw). Also, it does not take a genius to understand that those pathetic bankrupt companies are no longer supplying billions of dollars in Tax Revenue. Brilliant move obamacorn! For a country that is already disgustingly and utterly broke, you just shot yourself in the foot by reducing the government’s take home pay!

Now Sue,… come close to the screen because here is a very important point… You see, … the government will not just wave off that loss of revenue, and say “oh well, guess we made the wrong call on that one.” NO, they can’t! WE must feed the beast, and there is where you will see YOUR leaders trying to rape your pocketbook with any and all kinds of taxes on everything you buy, put in your gas tank, health insurance premiums paid, etc… EVEN IF the Government of obamanomics only punished and taxed those rich evil companies, … it STILL comes out of YOUR hide in the end (haha pun intended.)

The evil rich companies have every legal right to raise their prices on the very goods, gas, groceries, whatever that you need to buy, in order to pay back those higher taxes that the government levees on them. That’s the way obamanomics works, darlin’, and that, my friend, makes a very good reason to scream about the horrors of obamacorn.

    4. Larry said, “I am also tired of you all saying that a CEO is worth multimillion dollar salaries the is no one on the god greens earth worth that. It’s a joke to think they are.

Answer: Well Larry, you and the government really have absolutely NO right to limit how much any individual citizen can make because that would be SOCIALISM, now wouldn’t it sweet cheeks? Now you and I know the magic salary fairy did not just fly over and ::poof:: those millionaires into wealth, dontcha? Those CEO’s are hardworking and they got there because they are successful at what they do. Now the corrupt ones get caught like Madoff etc, but hardworking rich folk like Michel Dell, Oprah, Donald Trump, Will Smith, Holly Berry, Bill Gates etc. did not get their wealth handed to them. They worked hard for it, and they give us hope that we could possibly do the same one day. Can you imagine how sad it would be in this country if you got to decide how much people could earn based on your own prejudice and low self worth? GOD LORD, no body would be willing to line up for that firing squad.

Hey! I am going to work hard to do my best, build a company with my own blood sweat and tears and put my whole worth on the line just so I can succeed and some jerk can take it all away from me once I get to the top! Yeah! Sign me up for that one!

You do not seem to understand that by pushing that kind of salary cap agenda, you are actually hurting your own people. Those greedy millionaires keep our economy rolling, because they don’t stuff their millions in a mattress… Those millionaires employ lots and LOTs of people. Those millionaires buy lots and LOTS of things and ride airplanes and buy lots of houses and stereos and televisions. Those millionaires ALSO pay a high percentage and a higher amount of the Taxes that the government needs to survive.

Cutting off those millionaires at the knees will cause more of us to lose our jobs and cause the tax revenue to suffer even more. Even beginner economist can see how destructive it is for the government to limit the incomes of ANY wage earner in America.

However, I am starting to lose faith and just might believe that obamacorn secretly wants to destroy America. Especially since I discovered that many anonymous posters on blogs, who bash conservatives and profess an undying love for the worst president in history, just so happen to have some peculiar IP addresses that originated from the middle east, and many IP addresses that have been logged have actually originated from the US prison system. The same prison system that is the new recruiting station for American hating radical muslims. Not to worry, I have not checked yours!

On top of all that, our POTUS is more than chummy with his middle eastern friends, and I imagine they are working together to ensure “death to America.” Hopefully we will wake up soon.

    5. Larry said, “You republicans stayed quite (you mean quiet?) while Bush ran this country into the ground now you can shut your piehol;es up now”

Answer: False. We did not shut our pie holes then, and we will NOT shut our pinholes now. It is my duty as an American to try to protect my country from corrupt politicians. The only thing I can do right now IS to open my pie hole and inform others of the horrors of obamacorn. That is, at least until 2011.

There’s a funny thing about your observation that Bush had a hand in setting us into a downward spiral. You see, it is fairly common knowledge and most conservatives will willingly admit that Bush started us on this downfall. Which, of course started with his frivolous bailouts (although not as frivolous as O) and policies. HOWEVER, obamacorn took the reins SWIFTFULLY from Bush. Our current POTUS, not only stayed the (Bush) course, BUT OBMA RAMPED UP THOSE failed BUSH POLICIES INTO WARP SPEED!

Wow, for all of you that hated Bush so much, it must just eat you up inside to see obamacorn carrying on the bush legacy. Oh, and let us not forget that obamacorn has not ended Bushes war of wasteful spending. No…as a matter of fact he has ramped that up as well. We are sending approximately 70,000 additional troops over there by the end of this year. Although I will give the big O some credit for going to the Europeans to ask them send their troops as replacements, so he could bring home the American soldiers, but they just laughed in his face, and rightfully so. How many promises does the POTUS have to break before you see what a loser he really is?

    6. Peter said, “Bush had already allocated 1.4 Billion in stimulus just before he left office…”

Answer: Newsflash! While Bush gave it his blessing, it was the democrat controlled congress that strong armed that lovely deal. All while Pelosi knew that this would be the nail in the coffin for the GOP ticket. It should also be noted that even though bush had mistakenly and wrongfully bailed out banks early in his term, none of those banks went belly up. It took the super genius of Barak H. Obama to topple several banking and insurance companies, and to run America’s major car companies into the ground. Which of course led us to the lovely 9.4% unemployment rate. But WAIT! Didn’t obama warn us with all his might that we absolutely HAD to bail them out to prevent this deep recession from happening? Isn’t that what he said? I may have to look that one up…

Ok excuse my language, but WTF?!?

If I had a choice between,

    A. spending our economy trillions of dollars into debt and the companies going bankrupt, or
    B. NOT spending that money and the companies still going into bankruptcy,

Hmmm which one would I chose? If obamacorn had picked ‘B’ he might had have some of our money left over to put toward his universal health care scheme. As it stands now, he will pillage the American citizens once again with more taxes to pay for another failed policy. We are headed down a dark road my misinformed friend, but I get the feeling you are one of the ones that want us to be there.

Ok this next one makes me ROFL!

    7. Peter said, “How about people remembering that the USA was already about 9 Trillion in debt before Bush came in to office and he spent about 2 Trillion on unnecessarily wars.

Answer: ~~HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!~~ Oh boy does someone need a fact check? Hmmmm? You are making my job look easy. First of all you said we were in debt 9 Trillion BEFORE he came into office?? Really? Gosh, Clinton was allot worse than I thought. That actually makes President Bush somewhat of a superhero, or saint even, given the fact that our debt was down to 1.9 Trillion when Bush left office. By your admission that means Bush actually cleared up 7 TRILLION DOLLARS OF OUR DEBT! I gotta call somebody on this one!!! WOOT! WOOT!

Let’s get another one of your intelligent statements out in the open. You said the iraq war cost us 2 Trillion, ummmmmmm, sorry, but you are waaaaaay off on that one. Try 700 Billion, honey bun. That is what Bush spent. Although I do have to give you partial credit because the WAPo predictions of how much obamacorn is spending on the war reports it will likely top the 3 trillion mark before it is all over. But of course you probably just googled that number without actually reading the article.

So you really wanna go ahead and make yourself look like a complete idiot by insulting Governor Sarah Palin’s intelligence…, really? I am not sure you could work your way out of a paper bag with those kinds of statements. That’s not an insult mind you, just an observation.

Well it’s been fun boys and girls, and I now know why this incompetent man was elected POTUS. A bunch of incompetent youngin’s voted. You will learn…You will grow up and learn what a horrible mistake you made. How do I know? I did it with Clinton when I was young and stupid. I was swept up by the ideology of the Democratic Party and voted for a pretty bad president too. Fortunately Clinton only had a couple of affairs while he was in office. Oh yeah and he let Bin Laden free to kill again. I will take that one. Unfortunately your generations mistake will be much more costly to you, your friends and family, but most importantly to your children and their children. See you at the ballot box in 2011.
