Hawaii Goes Dhimmi, Creates Islam Day
This couldn’t have anything to do with the rumors that Barack Obama is a closet Muslim, could it?* Nah. It has more to do with those on the far left respecting the values and objectives of Islam then other established religions – Hawaii Lawmakers Pass Bill to Create ‘Islam Day’
Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate “Islam Day” — over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.
The Senate’s two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.
Can you imagine the uproar from the Left if a State legislature, heck, a small town board, creating a Christianity Day or Hebrew Day? Massive talking points about the wall of separation between church and state. We know that Democrats do like to erect walls.
“I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember,” said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue — same-sex civil unions.
The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.
Will Gov. Lingle have the fortitude to stand strong in the face of dhimmitude in the Hawaii legislative branch? And, of all the days, they pick one in September? Searching around, I cannot find any significance to the Muslim faith for that day. Anyone know?
“We are a state of tolerance. We understand that people have different beliefs,” said Sen. Will Espero, a Democrat. “We may not all agree on every single item and issue out there, but to say and highlight the negativity of the Islamic people is an insult to the majority” of believers “who are good law-abiding citizens of the world.”
Here’s today’s task, folks: everyone write or call Will Espero, and ask him to submit a bill proclaiming some day in the year Christian Day and another to be Hebrew Day. Let’s see how far his tolerance extends.
*That Obama is a Muslim crack is simply that: a wisecrack. I do not think he is a Muslim. I think he is a Godless Progressive who will used religion when it benefits his politics, but, otherwise couldn’t care less.

The liberal hypocrisy is incredible.
I’m ashamed of this state to even think that creating a Islam day makes me sick. Why is it ok to support illegals, abortionists, terrorists, and psychotic liberals in this country. At this rate this country is going to have a major revolution in its path. Having Islam day is basically saying lets celebrate Osama Day and oh, while were at it lets make it a national holiday but we need to make sure we take God out of the White House. Oh, I forgot the President is already working on that alone. Soon we’ll see God will be taken off our currency and the Pledge of Allegiance. Our own president is trying to remove the US Chaplain. Is he going to replace him with a Islamic priest to pray to Allah? This is the United States we have rights and Islam Day is a terrorist attack on this country.

“Islam Day” Violates Separation of Church and State, ACLU Says

HONOLULU – The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii (“ACLU”) voiced its opposition to the Hawaii Legislature’s declaration of September 24, 2009 as “Islam Day.”
As Daniel Gluck, Senior Staff Attorney for the ACLU of Hawaii explained, “This resolution sends the State down a dangerous path. The Legislature should not be picking and choosing among religions to honor, no matter how well-intentioned the action.”
The ACLU acknowledges that Islam has a long and noble history and that Muslims have made innumerable contributions to science, philosophy, and the arts. Furthermore, celebrating a diversity of views is a fundamental part of America’s and Hawaii’s cultural heritage. The ACLU’s objection to “Islam Day” has nothing to do with the tenets of Islam; indeed, the ACLU is equally opposed to the Legislature’s past recognition of “Buddha Day,” “Bahá’í New Year’s Day,” and “Bodhi Day.” The ACLU strenuously disagrees with those who oppose “Islam Day” out of prejudice, ignorance, and fear of our Muslim friends, family, and neighbors. Nevertheless, the Constitution does not permit the government to favor one religion over another, and the ACLU would raise similar objections to any resolution seeking to discriminate – for good or ill – against any religious group.
“Religion is alive and well in America precisely because the government cannot tell us what we should believe,” Gluck said. “All religions – along with the right not to believe anything at all – should be honored every day, but the government cannot give preferential status to one belief system over another.”

abidwali – You say don’t mix Terrorism with Islam – I spent 2 years in Saudi Arabia as a contractor. 2 British men in Al Kobar had their throat slit and drowned in their own blood because they rejected the advances of some gay arabs. The police watched as the second man had his throat cut and did nothing to protect the man or arrest the ones who committed the murder. If you are a Muslim you can murder a non-Muslim and nothing will happen. The “Religious” Matawa in my base camp held a British man down in his own home and took a pair of scissors and cut off everything they could as 8 of them held the man down. Finally they cut him open from the pubic bone to the throat and slowly cut out his internal organs until he died. They left his heart out on the floor with scissors stabbed in the couch. Only non-muslims were even questioned about the murder and everyone in the camp knew who had committed the murder because they were seen yet nothing was done by the police or anyone else. I have Never known a Muslim to keep his word to a non-muslim unless it was to his advantage. Islam is Not peaceful. It preaches Hate!!
