Groupthink is popular among everyone who refuses to imagine anything that contradicts what he wants to believe. The rightwing blogs today are all kerfluffle over a photograph of the President smiling at Hugo Chavez. Nobody seems to accept that politicians, all politicians, are greasy gladhanders. No, it's just *those guys* on the other side of the aisle that are suckups. When OUR favorite politician comes to town, and kisses OUR babies, well, that's just proof of what a warm caring human being he is. When he throws his arm around a hard-working, salt-of-the-earth fella? See, there's a guy I could have a beer with. What troubles me most is not that America is so rabidly partisan right now, it's that American's partisans are such suckers. Groupthink is not limited to the left, or the right, or the in-between.
