Spokane Parks To Detonate Squirrels, + Peta Nuts
Really, is there any possibility for improvement on that headline?
Spokane is having a problem with too many ground squirrels at the Finch Arboretum
So the Parks and Recreation department is going to use a special machine to detonate some of the 100 to 150 rodents that are tearing up the grounds.
The machine is called the Rodenator Pro. It pumps propane and oxygen into the tunnels of squirrels, then sends an electric spark that causes an explosion. The shock waves kill the squirrels and collapse their tunnels.
The parks department says the Rodenator is a humane way to kill the squirrels. But it warns area residents that the explosions sound like gun shots, and to not to alarmed by them all week.
For a change, we can’t blame this on liberal hypocrisy, since Lincoln Spokane County, Washington, tends to vote GOP. I supposed we could drill down to the city level, but, na, I would just suggest that Spokane consider the cost of starting this war.
The sad thing is, these PETA nuts are actually serious
Days after President Barack Obama signed an executive order banning torture during military interrogations, PETA wrote to the president calling for the ban of another form of military torture: trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises conducted on animals.
Thousands of live animals are shot, stabbed, dismembered, burned, and poisoned every year in Department of Defense (DoD) training exercises designed to train medics and infantry in how to treat various human battlefield injuries. PETA is asking President Obama to issue an executive order requiring the DoD to replace animals with non-animal methods. These methods are readily available and already in use at several military installations. The non-animal methods include rotations in military trauma hospitals and the use of the DoD’s own Combat Trauma Patient Simulator.
Please help animals who suffer for military training by asking President Obama to extend his ban on torture to include animals used in military trauma-training exercises.
Rather it be animals then people.

That’s Spokane County not Lincoln. Now I’m thinking of other uses for this, maybe Gaza?
Yup, was looking at the 2008 election map, looked like Spokane was in Lincoln, my bad.
That would work in Gaza. They have plenty of holes to try it on.
found a pretty clever twitter

it’s from the point of view of the state, kinda funny
thought you might enjoy it
another fine example of war technology being put to good use…
wait..you mean the rodenator pro was NOT designed with afghan tunnel complexes in mind?
someone get one of these to the troops, NOW!
CADDY SHACK sequel Part 200.
I don’t know why this is not of personal interest to me.
I do not eat or wear squirrel.
Personally, I like squirrels. They are amusing. But, then, the trees they live in are around 50 yards or more away from my townhouse, so they rarely interfere with me or mess anything up
I love squirrels!!!
OKay, so this one time i was walking down the road. Then, I saw a squirrel. It was on the side of the road. Then it ran into the middle of the road. It stopped and looked at me. Then it ran back to the same side of the road it came from. The end. Squirrels are amazing why detonate them?
on 2/19/10 i was outside and heard a gunshot then saw a squirrel fall from a tree next door..i went to the neighbor and he admitted he shot the animal..we are not only in a no shooting zone but how much harm can 1 little or 3 squirrels do..i called the police dept..and 2 men were dispatched, after talking to the neighbor, they said he was within his rights and could use a pellet gun or bb to shoot them..after i checked with a higher authority on 2/21 was told we are a no shoot zone and also not legal to shoot the squirrels..dont you think these so called officers would know the laws in thier own town..

The better questions, carol… if it’s his property, gun, yard and squirrel, why do you give a flip what he does? Did it add or take anything from you?
