Enviroweenies: Sewer Irony And Trees

Oops

The state Department of Ecology in 1996 officially declared Burnt Bridge Creek to be severely polluted with fecal coliform.

The environmental regulators, it turns out, had unwittingly contributed to the problem.

This week, Vancouver city workers made a startling discovery near the regional office shared by Ecology and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife at 2108 Grand Blvd. At some point in the building’s history, a sewer pipe that was supposed to be connected to the city’s sanitary sewer main had been incorrectly connected to a stormwater line instead.

And guess what was flowing into the creek. Yup, raw sewage from the rest rooms.

Sad

After losing two of his prized paintings, Anton Cataldo decided to make a direct appeal to the public.

The 28-year-old artist, who specialises in pet portraits, made posters of his missing paintings and pinned them to half a dozen trees in his local park.

He included his phone number and email address as well as the offer of a £100 reward for their safe return.

But the only message he received was from a council official who took exception to Mr Cataldo’s use of the local fauna – and fined him £75 for harming the ‘living’ trees.

The fine has been cancelled, but, in light of the all the human induced climate change legislation idiocy out there, how soon till we see this kind of fine being codified around the world, including the USA, in a program similar to the way the 287(g) program works?

That annoying side bar widget thing has got to go. I’ve been a winner, and the 10,000 visitor for the past month or so; must be so or it wouldn’t say it was. Now, should I expect a stimulus check in the mail as well?

Sorry, just had nothing more to add regarding the hoax put on by the environmental whacko folks.
