Another Example of Obama’s ‘Bi-Partisanship’ Lie

-By Warner Todd Huston

Obama is going to bring a new age of “working together” to D.C. He is the man to initiate that era of nice we’ve all been waiting for. He is captain bi-partisan… remember all that? When he finally got to the Oval Office he had a few meetings and some cocktails with a few Republicans. Everyone hailed this as the “new” Washington the promised land of post-partisanship.

Then came the omnibus spending bill. It was planned entirely by the Democrats in Congress, the Republican leadership thoroughly excluded from the planning sessions. Obama said not a word nor did he raise a finger to change the situation. It shouldn’t be surprising because the flavor was set by Obama early. When asked about working across the aisle, Obama told Republicans that he didn’t have to. “I won,” he pointedly said.

Unfortunately, the wool is still firmly swathing the eyes of the American people. So, we continue to chronicle every instance that makes the lie to Obama’s desire to “reach across the aisle” and we take inventory of the truth. This week we had yet one more example to report.

Remembering that Obama claimed he wanted a new attitude in government, an aspect of that would include, it must be assumed, common courtesy. In this case, common courtesy might include a friendly phone call to a representative to alert him that the president is going to be visiting his district — no matter what party that representative might belong to. It’s just the courteous thing to do, wouldn’t you say?

Well, you would be wrong. It turns out that Barack Obama saw no reason to alert a Republican Representative that he was going to be in his California district last week. Obama DID, however, invite a Democrat from another district to appear along side of him at a townhall meeting there.

So, not only did Obama not have the common courtesy of alerting an elected official that he was going to appear in that representative’s district, but Obama imported another representative from a different district to appear with him.

The snubbed representative was Dana Rohrabacher of California’s 46th District. Rohrabacher was not told by the office of the president that Obama was going to appear at a townhall in the 46th.

But, there he was, on stage with California’s Lt. Governor, Representative Hilda Soliz, and Representative Loretta Sanchez. None of them from the district in which the townhall was being held.

As an after thought, Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rham Emanuel, called Representative Rohrabacher and “apologized” claiming it was an honest mistake.

“Mistake” or no this incident is a perfect example of how bi-partisanship and a new tone is in no way whatever uppermost in Obama’s mind or any integral part of his governing style. If it were, such niceties as a call to Rohrabacher would have been at the top of the agenda, and it would have been made long before Obama even left Washington.

But it wasn’t. A call was only an after thought effort made in an attempt to stave off embarrassing publicity.

Bi-partisanship is not Obama’s plan. It never was. It never will be.

Barack Obama is about as bipartisan as Vladimir Putin… just as long as it serves his purposes, he’ll give it lip service- even take a smiley picture with you. After that, it’s to be suppressed- narcissists like Obama have no use for anything that doesn’t feed their thirst for power.

Other than for political cover for his reckless spending, he has no interest in earning GOP support- John McCain is about as bipartisan as they come… and he’s turned on Obama in the first month, what does that tell you?

When challenged to defend his proposals and radical spending, Obama did his best to sustain his smiling used-car-salesman shmoozing skills. But when met with continued resistance, the president arrogantly reminded Republicans that “I won”, and that Americans “embraced” his ideas when they elected him. Well, perhaps Americans supported his promise of “bipartisanship”, and even swallowed the MSM’s promotion of this myth… but did voters actually embrace the Obama that was hidden and denied… the REAL one with the most liberal voting record in the US Senate, and who voted a strict, far-left line in the Illinois legislature?

Then the habitually dishonest Obama had the gall to initiate a propaganda campaign against the GOP as the “Party of No”- when he knows perfectly well opposition was targeted and nuanced. And unlike what the left would have you believe, the GOP has indeed offered alternatives.

The hubristic victor Obama should be informed that the wave of unquestioned support that he’s enjoyed to this point is rapidly coming to an end. This nut is out of control- and people are belatedly starting to figure it out.

Obama is a con man. No skills all mouth.
He has never been a man of character and never will be.

Not only is this an idiotically trivial issue, but you can’t even tell the truth about it.

As was noted in the story you yourself linked to and took your information from, Obama’s failure to make a courtesy call to Rohrabacher was simply an oversight. Obama himself said so in so many words, personally took the blame for it, apologized publicly, and called for his Democratic audience to give Rohrabacher a round of applause, all of this from the podium during the speech itself. Then Rahm Emanuel personally called Rohrabacher to apologize directly, later that same night. Rohrabacher’s own aid said he “really appreciated the gesture”.

There is less than no story here. Not only did nothing of substance happen, but Obama personally called attention to the slip and went out of his way to make it good, to the extent that Rohrabacher’s own office praised him for it.

But it is heartening to see how very low is the highest level of complaint you can gin up against the current administration.

Obama is at best a charlatan, and at worst this Nations undoing.I’ve seen his kind all my life, the plastic smile, the condescending way he treats those who are not riding his coattails;the thinly vieled contempt for those who don’t bow to him.If his ultra-leftist ways don’t get him shot his bankrupting the country will.I just hope its not a white man who does it,no one whould ever let us forget it!

God, seriously? Why don’t you trade places with me? Half my family is unemployed. I would love to be in a position where Obama not making a phone call (and his chief of staff making one afterwards) got me all hot and outraged, but unfortunately, I have what we in the real world like to call “real problems.” This is penny-ante stuff, and frankly I would think the same thing if the same article were written about George W. Bush.

I am always trying to help people and so I have run into many who smoke pot, crack and injest all manner of illegal drugs.
They sound like the bama. They cannot keep their stories straight and so the “story” aka tell lies. They have no memory for what they said even hours ago. Just like the bama.
On the campaign trail he said one thing and now he says another. His memory is shot. The binky (teleprompter) is trying to replace his memory. It has no memory either. It would all be amusing but still build a bomb shelter in case the novelty wears off.
