I cannot figure out why the State Dept. won’t talk to any Brits. But I have a new working hypothesis. Nobody’s calls are being answered but it’s just the Brits who are complaining. The main factor is that State is a union shop and phone answering was not clearly delineated as a required duty in anyone’s new contract. Someone will finally answer the phone but they must all finish the battle of the wills first. The Brits might try sending an email to Obama.gov but I think you’re more likely to get customer service at Google before a federal emploree puts down their newspaper
