‘Cradle to career’ — the Obama ‘education’ plan
CNN: Obama wants to overhaul education system from ‘cradle to career’
President Obama began to flesh out the details of one of his signature campaign promises Tuesday, outlining his plan for a major overhaul of the country’s education system “from the cradle up through a career.”
That “flesh” being America’s children. I can’t think of anything more frightening than this imagery. Babies being snatched from their “cradles” by bureaucrats conscripted into the government “education” system.
That didn’t last long. Here’s something more frightening.
He highlighted a proposal to offer 55,000 first-time parents “regular visits from trained nurses to help make sure their children are healthy and prepare them for school and life.”
So what if this “visit” from a government nurse turns into a report that a parent is “unfit” because the “nurse” finds that a parent relented and let her child eat ice cream when there was still organic brocolli left on the plate?
There’s too much more in this “plan” to dig into right now, but surprise, surprise, the Grand Educator’s scheme has a hefty price tag! Spending more of phantom money on failed government programs!
Reuters reports:
Obama, who in his first 50 days in office has launched drives to overhaul healthcare and energy policy, plans to nearly triple spending on education in the 2010 fiscal year, which begins on October 1.
The funding includes an $81 billion set-aside for education in the economic stimulus package, which would raise the Education Department’s budget for next year to $127.8 billion from $46.2 billion in 2009.
More money for the bureaucrats of the education establishment who have gotten us into the mess Obama pretends to lament today. Maybe the Lions should have tripled Matt Millen’s salary instead of pink-slipping him! Another day, another bailout for people who, and institutions that, have already destroyed a generation of children.
