Shocking News! Obama’s Too Tired And Overwhelmed
Posted on March 8, 2009
I know, I know, it’s a shocker. Oh, OK, you’re probably saying to your computer screen “well, duh!”, particularly regarding the last word of the headline. Barack Obama ‘too tired’ to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
But, hey, those are the excuses used to say why Obama treated Gordon Brown, PM of Britian, basically our top ally, like a leader from a third world country
Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.
British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.
But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama’s inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.
OK, let’s see: President Neophyte treated Brown and the British press like snot, and is now making excuses that expose his true executive nature. Perhaps President Neophyte could have called up Brown and cancelled the visit? But, I do like how he and his administration are “bemused” about complaints regarding the shoddy treatment, which includes, if you remember, Brown and his wife giving fantastic gifts to the Obama’s, and, in return, the Browns received presents equivalent to a fruit cake. What is Michelle Obama’s excuse for being a poor host?
Perhaps it is all the partying the Obama’s have been doing on the public dime quarter silver dollar (we have to account for the massive inflation Obama’s spending will cause.) They sure do not seem to be too tired for that.
He sure didn’t seem too tired for a visit by Brad Pitt. He didn’t seem too tired when he rushed to Columbus, Ohio, to take credit for creating 25 jobs (as 651,000 were lost.) He doesn’t seem too tired as he decides to have a dialogue with the Taliban. Though, he does seem a little tired when it comes to earmarks, which he says he will fight next year. What’s the expiration date on that promise?
But, back to Britain
The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.
The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: “There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.” The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama’s determination to do too much too quickly.
Read that again. “Nothing special about Britain.” Apparently, this is how Obama intends to heal the world and the US reputation. By destroying our links to long time allies. On the bright side, he’ll create new ones with nations like Iran and Syria.
Ed Morrissey: I’m not sure which is worse. At least if he meant to snub Brown, it would suggest a certain competence at this brand of diplomacy. Instead, we’re told that the Obama White House and their staff are just a bunch of incompetents who got in over their heads.
Sister Toldjah: Gosh, the job of a President sure is hard work. Who’da thought?!
Six Meat Buffet: I guess this is a little tougher than his old “job” of Community Agitator. Amateur houris far too kind a description, Cramer.
Wizbang: I guess I would be tired too if my goal was to demolish a 233 year old capitalistic democracy into a fully functioning socialist regime in a 5 week period.
PS: Just to invalidate the whole excuse from Team Neophyte about him being tired: (Obama) struck a reassuring tone about the economy, saying he had no trouble sleeping at night.

Earn-while-you-learn has always included certain hidden costs.
what else can you expect out of a man with no more experience then he has had.
Say, Sandra, who had control of Congress the last 2 years?
It’s because this is the first time he’s had a “real”job. Maybe if his wife cut down on the Wednesday night parties he could get some work done. I’ve lived through 9 presidents and this is the first time I have heard that the president complain he’s TIRED – and he’s perhaps the youngest of them all. Just another reason he is unqualified. Gary B.
Term limits my friends.
TERM LIMITS FOR ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS!
And. yes, I know I am shouting.
Sandra is very forgetful. For the past two years the Dems have been in control of Congress. Remember when they took over? Pelosi talking all that smack about, “We’re going to put this President ON NOTICE!” What did they do – - NOTHING. All Bawney Fwank could say is how Fannie and Fweddie wewen’t in twouble.
The Dems didn’t want regulation of the housing industry because they were pandering to their constituents – people who want something for nothing. Everyone had a hand in this financial mess and it’s just ignorant to say otherwise. Who warned that Fannie and Freddie were getting too big? PRESIDENT BUSH, THAT’S WHO – more than once, over a couple of years!
What are they doing now? It’s a Congressional money grab, they don’t read the bills before they sign them, the bills they sign have more pork than Chicago has crooks. They have given themselves raises, including one this month! They are fulfilling their own wildest dreams with money WE DON’T HAVE!
As for BO, he’s out of his league. What has he ever done except be a community organizer and run for office? NOTHING! Not one piece of legislation – zilch – zero – nada! I’ve only seen crap about all the swanky parties he and his wife are having at the White House and how she’s so chic for wearing sleeveless dresses. Not one thing about HOW he intends on fixing the economy.
Oh yes, I’ve also heard how he and his people have insulted one of our closest allies – Britain – telling them they’re no different than any of the other 190 countries in the world – what an arrogant ass. Then he cozies up with Cuba and the Taliban?
Maybe he wouldn’t be so tired if he would stop smoking? He needs to stop flying all over the place and sit down in his office and get to work. He’s the one that talked nonsense about “hope and change” and how his administration would do this and that, and he’s already broken many promises, including the promise about NO EARMARKS. And don’t give me that crap about it being last year’s business, either. He’s the freakin President and still has the power of VETO. That’s just an excuse so his buddies in Congess can get more of their wish list checked off. And they’re doing it on borrowed money.
Hail to the Playa in Chief!
Hey irene!! guess what..first are you sitting down ( I know I know hard to type while standing) but I heard..pssssttt..dont tell anyone but the Demo’s are floating the idea of changing the term limit statue. But first the 2nd amendment must be gutted, since it was placed there for a purpose, for a free peoples to be able to defend the 1st amendment, something they are breeding out of the kids..oh well. Once the 2nd is gone the rest can fall like dominos and things like the Fairness Doctrine can more easily be
instigated. We are in a time of a Global Economy which means (think of Mike Meyers saying this…) socialism baby!! Maybe soon individaul citizens will be forced to house the homeless, which in of itself isnt a bad thing, but the homeless will probably by that time be part of the “Obama Youth” program and then you better toe the line cause they be a-watchin’. Makes sense to me that Nazi’s were the German socialist party and they had the “Hitler Youth”, in effect little spies for Hitler living in your home, but unfortunately they were your kids. And what little tyke nowadays wouldnt turn in his parents for a new Xbox? Wow! They have even chose the same enemy to belittle..those dang joooos..getting in their way to their master plan to sell out America to the highest bidder and the terrorists, kind of like the Vichy French in WW2. Dont get me wrong here..socialism..in its purest form
is a wonderful thing, kind of like Disneyworld for the masses, as long as there is some omnipotent being funneling you money and resources on a non stop basis. But the world is more like Bonanza, the town hates the Cartwrights, and ole Ben aint into bailing out everybody. Well maybe Hoss believes in socialism, but Adam??/ Phhhhtttt.
It’s not fatigue and it’s not just incompetence. Obama did this as a personal snub to the British. Obama wants to show people he’s different from former Pres. GW Bush. So instead of treating Britain – our older brother and closest ally – the way they deserved to be treated Obama instead snubbed them.
It could have been worse I guess maybe Obama could’ve taken them to McDonald’s and given them a Blockbuster gift card.
The more he deals with other governments the more dishonor Obama will bring upon America.
I love how almost 90% of people that are politically involved have no idea what they are talking about.
Truth is, [any] government has not worked for the greater good in centuries.
When will people stop being so cowardly and complacent…and finally DO SOMETHING about it? You cannot change a corrupt system from within the confines and guidelines set by that very corrupt system.
It’s time to begin anew…
When freedom is lost to governmental control, revolution becomes a right.
Obama is either a fool or really is the Manchurian candidate. Destroying relations with our best ally by snubbing him last week then planning on talks with Iran–
Obama, Iran only wants to talk with you so they have more time to put the finishing touches on their nuke you fool. Maybe he isn’t a fool after all–maybe he is in league with all the Moslem nations to destroy Israel (which his policies and picks for foreign policy chief are showing) and the United States or——
The Manchurian candidate and we don’t seem to be able to do anything to stop his outrageous behavior from parties in the Whitehouse to romancing our enemies.
To our good friends in the United Kingdom… We the people of the United States appreciate your standing with us throughout many struggles. You have sacrificed precious lives beside us in Afghanistan and Iraq in recent years. You are a great nation and we are grateful to have you as our friends.
The UK tortured Obama’s grandpappy. With that in consideration I think his response to the UK was most restrained.
It’s not like he declared war on the UK like his predecessor did on a country who had tried to hurt his father. The UK actually DID hurt Obama’s Grandfather. Therefore there is more justification for Obama to go to war with Britain than there ever was for Bush to go to war with Iraq.
Well, Alice, it was reported that that happened, but there is no actual physical proof, but, for the sake of argument, let’s say that it is 100% true that BO’s grandaddy was tortured. Being that that is the case and that is why Obama acted the way he did to Gordon Brown and his wife, that would just prove that Obama is unqualified to be President, since he is not capable of putting aside personal feelings over something that happened almost 60 years ago, and, instead, acted in a completely unprofessional manner which is an embarrassment to the office of the President and to the People of the USA.
Regardless of his actual citizenship Obama is a defacto foreigner.
He was raised in a foreign country.
He is at least half Kenyan (and of course we suspect more) with having a Kenyan dad. He has close relatives who are citizens of foreign countries.
Look I don’t care about one’s color of skin. But when we elect a President that person shouldn’t be foreign in outlook.
Obama is foreign in outlook (yeah and possibly more) like so many citizens of the US are today. This is a prime example of what happens when someone is foreign in outlook.
I am Glad that the Constitution says the one has to be a natural born American to be President. I think it should be that all four grandparents need to be natural born as well. I know that would disqualify Jindal and since that isn’t the law I still support him, but I do believe that if it was the law it would OVERALL be best for America and it should be the same way for Senators and Representatives as well.
Heck I would have a problem with a white guy with a foreign perspective.
It’s not about race. It’s about perspective.
“So instead of treating Britain – our older brother and closest ally – the way they deserved to be treated Obama instead snubbed them.”
I find it interesting that we have only really been allies with the UK for about the last 100 years or so of our history. Before then they were our adversary.
I am not saying that what Obama did was correct. It was indeed shortsighted. But as Americans we aren’t supposed to have any particular love for any foreign nation. It always should be based on interests.
Right now our interests are aligned so we should treat them with some respect. But this whole “older brother” thing is crap. Looking back on history they may have been our “older brother” but they were an abusive one.
Or have you forgotten what they did to our capital?
I am just saying never “love” an ally. Always see an ally as simply what an ally is. A country who’s interests are currently aligned with ours.
Because since the Brits were all gushing over Obama (like the rest of the world), I think they are just getting what they deserved.
Poetic Irony.
Obama’s main “qualification” (besides skin color) was hey, the world hates us and Obama will make the world love us again.
Every country Obama pisses off shows the lie of that argument.
By the end of the Obama administration the world is going to loathe us. They are going to loathe us far more than then when Obama took office. But there will be no W. to blame that on. This will set the “street creds” the Democrats claim to have on the issue of “diplomacy” back decades.
This is hitting Obama where he is perceived to be the strongest. That is ultimately a good thing.
And again, if you look at polls on who would people of the UK had voted for if they could, they overwhelmingly wanted Obama. So they got what they wanted. So now they can STFU.
If the majority of the worlds idiots were removed from the equation (95% of the populace) , Obama would be left standing…and with support.
