Surrender Monkey Friday: Pelosi Butts Heads With Barry

Queen Nancy is flexing a few muscles against President Neophyte

Nancy Pelosi repeatedly stood to applaud Barack Obama when he addressed a joint session of Congress Tuesday night. But in the days since, the speaker of the House has been standing up for herself —distancing herself from the president on Iraq, on tax cuts and on the prosecution of former Bush administration officials.

Pelosi’s aides say the speaker was comfortable playing the role of Obama’s shield during the stimulus fight—Republicans teed off on her rather than on the immensely popular new president—and that she remains strongly supportive of the administration on health care, energy and education reform.

But on Iraq and other high-profile issues that matter to her, aides say Pelosi has no intention of holding her tongue when she thinks Obama is wrong.

And she’s not alone.

While Newt Gingrich complained that Tuesday’s night unofficial State of the Union looked like a “Democratic pep rally,” the aftermath has looked more like a sibling rivalry.

On Wednesday morning, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.)—the longest-serving member of the Senate—accused Obama of trying to steal power from Congress by appointing White House “czars” to handle issues that would otherwise be handled by departments subject to congressional oversight.

On Wednesday night, Pelosi made it clear to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that she wasn’t happy with Obama’s plan to leave 50,000 U.S. troops in Iraq and that, unlike Obama, she “absolutely” favors criminal prosecutions for any Bush administration officials involved in torture or other excesses in the fight against terrorism.

On Thursday, Pelosi said she’d move “faster” than Obama is to roll back Bush-era tax cuts. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Chuck Schumer joined Pelosi’s critique of Obama’s plan to leave. Reid urged Obama not to push too hard to eliminate congressional earmarks. And Democratic Rep. Gene Taylor of Mississippi took a shot at Obama’s budget, saying “change is not running up even bigger deficits that George Bush did.”

How soon till Barry realizes that his current attempt to appear middle of the road (snicker) is running smack into Pelosi and Reid’s need to get a far left agenda through Congress, and they do not really care if the public knows or not?

I still say that Congress will introduce legislation to do away with the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts early this year. I guess we will see.

Pelosi has a big mouth, it seems Obama did too, but is learning to control it. It won’t be long before Pelosi cracks and spills the beans on how Obama owes her for funneling the money from the DNC that was needed to keep the lawsuits at bay questioning his eligibility to be president. Pelosi thinks she is running the show, I won’t be surprised when the powers (Soros) that got Obama his job silence her. All of these liberal democrats, it is only time before they start eating each other. Pop the corn and sit back and enjoy the show.

I think this is KABUKI THEATER or GOOD COP / BAD COP tricks again.

The only difference between Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and President Obama (PBUH) is what to steal from the taxpayers and when and how much.

The same democratic / liberal / socialist / marxist goals are embraced by the THREE AMIGOS. Once they have taken care of their pet projects and paid off their supporters they will get back to basics–converting our country into the new UNITED SOCIALISTIC STATES OF AMERIKA.

Similar to John’s comment above, I believe this is all orchestrated by the Dems to protray Obama as a “moderate,” smack in the middle between Pelosi and her ilk, and the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. How lucky we should all be to have such a moderate in office as our President.

Wrong, Pelosi is a lunatic. She is unhinged and out of control.
This is the same dimbulb that told us that the church doesn’t have a firm stance on abortion.
She got bitch-slapped by the Pope and it didn’t phase her.

Uhmmmm, elections have consequences. You lost. Grow up and leave the country. It would be best for you and for the country you hate. Please go now.

I find it ironic, on this one issue, the attempted gun grab, it is Mrs. Pelosi who appears be the moderate. It is Mrs. Pelosi who is echoing the talking points of the NRA.

I think the one erred badly by revealing his anti freedom, gun grabbing, position without checking for support in Congress first.

Find you, the Obama administration opposes freedom in its formed, and an armed citizenry is much harder to surpress. Free citizens are free to bear arms. serfs are not. Obama would have us all be serfs.

Absolutely insane. Just unhinged. Really folks. You do know that your own children are watching you plot to destroy their country, right? Your own children will look at your reaction to electing a smart, accomplished person – compared to dipstick Bush – and wonder why should they go to school. After all, you folks don’t seem to value education, opting instead for blind obediance to a failed ideology. Absolutely insane and treasonous.

She is playing to her San Fransisco crowd while attempting to make President Obama look like a moderate and also as if he is actually calling the shots instead of Congress. The question is whether the American people are gullible enough to buy the act.
