Oh, Good. US To Give $900 Million To The Folks Who Start The Wars

And all this follow on the heels of the Obama admin. throwing Israel under the bus at the Durban II “anti-racism” conference

The United States plans to pledge more than $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after Israel’s invasion and strengthen the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, a U.S. official said on Monday.

The money will be channeled through U.N. and other bodies and will not be distributed via the militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to make the announcement next week at a Gaza donors conference in Egypt.

So, let’s see: blaming Isreal? Check. UN and others getting the credit for spreading US money (which seems to be appearing out of a unicorns a**)? Check. None of the money going through Hamas? Good luck with that! Remember Hamas taking the international aid sent to Gaza during the last conflict?

I wonder how much the UN will siphon off before it even gets to Gaza?

An oldie, but goodie: how about every time we hear the words U.S., Government, or State, we substitute the word “American Taxpayer” ?

At some point there just has to be more than a handful of representatives who understand who is paying for this world of nonsense.

i totally agree with you daveinphoenix. i think bush should walk around with a sign indicating exactly how much of our money he wasted on ‘imminent threats’. maybe he could foot the bill on a few foreclosed homes, too.

by the way – this website is a complete waste of everyone’s time. all you do is get everyone more entrenched in their own views. meaningful dialogue doesn’t exist on a website like this – you are no better than fox-news.

the writers on this site no doubt go to bed each night feeling pretty smug and self-righteous, which is ironic because these are the same traits you say you loathe in organizations like the aclu.

it takes creativity and intelligence to come up with substantive discourse – anybody can sling mud. how many people did you really think you’d convert when you named a website “stoptheaclu” ?

    c.stokes,

Cute, but it just shows your historical ignorance. For the 300th time, Bush never said Iraq was an “imminent threat” (that’s what you’re referring to, right?). Look it up on Lexis-Nexis if you don’t believe me.

Sooo….how many times were you dropped on your head when you were a baby?

  5. c.stokes on February 23rd, 2009 11:31 pm

    Markey-Mark,

You’ve out-cuted me, but it unfortunately shows your predilection for failing to see the context in favor of splicing/mangling words. Bush and Rumsfeld chanted for days about the yellow cake, uranium, wmd’s. ad nauseum. Look it up on Westlaw if you don’t believe me.

you’re a real shakespeare with that irony, too – citing my ‘historical ignorance’. not often do i read something that actually commands a facial expression, let alone an audible hiccup.

Soo.. unfortunately you ended on a flat note. your prose were too strong, i’m afraid, and you collapsed in under your own weight on the frail legs of a dropped-on-your-head joke. just because it made your 14 year old nephew laugh doesn’t mean it’ll work out here on the vast interwebs. next time use something a little fresher – and remember, you can’t polish a turd.

c.stokes, if you look it up, you will see that the two elected representatives who said “imminent threat” were Jay Rockafeller, then John Edwards. Last time I checked, they were both, that’s right, Democrats.

As far as people being entrenched in their viewpoints, 1st, what is wrong with that? At least Conservatives stand for something, instead of sticking our fingers in the air to see which way the wind is blowing.

2nd, your use of imminent threat and whines about yellow cake (which the British govt still stands by. Seriously, what else is there to get from Niger?) etc shows that you are entrenched in your own viewpoint, as well.

    Mr. Teach,

Thanks for doing your homework. I appreciate you googling ‘who said imminent threat’ and garnering whatever the first hit was. heck – maybe you fact checked it with the second hit. i applaud you.

in any case, if i were told that my house was going to be bombed with god-knows-what i might be provoked, nay – scared, into saying indeed, this is an ‘imminent threat.’ in fact, i might argue that this would be the correct definition of an ‘imminent threat.’ in any case, as we all soon discovered, it was not. if anything, iran was a bigger threat. perhaps north korea? im not sure, but we all learned that iraq had nothing after how many patriotic americans died? im sure you could google that as you are no doubt a pro. i wonder if you could find the number of innocent iraqis who died as easily..

I as every other American just applied to purchuse a new home that I could afford. But the finance companies are unsure of the economy. So the home is put on the back burner till July. Now we give others,900 million dollors and I’m still waiting for my big break with the stimulas money. This really pisses me off. No money for us, but everything for someoe elses problems

  9. yo yo, Stokes on February 24th, 2009 1:27 am

is that you from MU, Mr. Chris Stokes?

  10. SpideyTerry on February 24th, 2009 3:22 am

Ridiculous. While there are plenty of innocent Palestinians in Gaza who are in need of help, it goes without that they won’t be reaping any benefits from this money. Hamas will steal it and use it to further their aims against Israel.

With any luck, the new/returning Israeli PM will crush Hamas once and for all if they pull any more crap. I think it also goes without saying that Netanyahu won’t back down or listen to (anti-semitic) world opinion when the inevitable fighting resumes.

As for this c.stokes character, just ignore him, everybody. He/she is clearly a troll not interested in those pesky little things called “facts.” If anything, c.stokes is obviously obsessed with Bush and company – clearly lacking anything close to a normal and balanced life, which is quite sad really.

Despite the fact that we’ve had a Democratic congress(the people who write the spending bills, remember ?)for all except 10 years of my 52 year lifetime, simple people will always blame the president for everything.

And if anyone wants to “foot the bill on a few foreclosed homes”, there’s a whole ton of Democratic responsibility behind that fiasco too. It’s no wonder that 70% of the top ten richest members of congress are Democrats.

Nice try, c. stokes. You’re outnumbered here. Good luck !

the people of Palestine have milked billions of dollars from Europe and the United States for years. What tangible results ,besides weaponry, have occurred to the infrastucture in Palestine? Israel gives the Palestinians a multi million dollar hydro pontic industry-and these people destroy the industries and convert them to weapons caches.Iam afraid that Hamas would just convert the monies to weapons and every one suffers.

  13. c-stokes on February 24th, 2009 11:07 am

nope – i’m not chris stokes. my last name isn’t stokes. my real name is something else altogether, actually. you have to be careful out here on the intertubes; there’s a lot of weirdos, child predators, and hubris.
i wish we could have a meaningful discussion but i’m afraid none of us would ever agree on the premise of what we’re talking about (be that bush’s/neocon’s policies or what to put on a ham sandwich). for every sound bite you give me about the ‘evil leftist media’ or ‘terrorist loving politicos’ or ‘gaybortion commies,’ i could give you even more caustic sound-offs on the ‘hypocritical christian right’ or ‘racist homophobic fear mongorers’, etc. to tell you the truth i kind of enjoy doing these kind of exchanges, though, because of the anonymity of the internet. perhaps thats why you all love it, too. it’s a lot easier to jump on the hate bandwagon when you only have to give your first name and no one ever sees your face.

so perhaps we could talk about this phenomenon?

How does sending $900 million over there stimulate OUR economy exactly?
