Nope, Caterpillar WON’T rehire post-Scamulus, Mr. President
Another day, another lie.
From the Last Remaining Real Journalist in the MSM, Jake Tapper: D’oh! Caterpillar CEO Contradicts President on Whether Stimulus Will Allow Him to Re-Hire Laid Off Workers
President Obama today repeated the claim we asked about yesterday at the press briefing that Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar, Inc., “said that if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off.”
Caterpillar announced 22,000 layoffs last month.
But after the president left the event, Owens said the exact opposite.
Asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs or not, Owens said, “I think realistically no. The truth is we’re going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again”
How does the Scamulus have even one person left supporting it, especially since 2/3 of Americans think they can do a better job managing the economy than the incompetent, scandal-ridden Democrat Congress they elected? How could support have gone UP in the past week? How can ANYONE say they support this closed-door, trillion-dollar scam? The Congress and the president are doing nothing to convince America that they are not PURPOSELY trying to bring on more economic pain.

I’ve linked to your post with a quotation from BlogWatch: Fact Check
The only thing that can stop this is an impromptu March on Washington to protest at the capitol. However, most of us are too worried to be fired from our jobs to take that much time off at one stretch.
Yeah, Brian, the only type of people that can actually accomplish this are the very people (you know, “community-organizer”-types) who aren’t troubled with a little thing like a real job…but will be flushed with funding through the Scamulus to do things like march on Washington.
This situation does call for this kind of action though. In Tennessee, our legislature tried to enact a state income tax against the wishes of the majority of the citizens a few years ago and everyone laid siege to the Hill while honking their horns.
This current situation is more dire than that but has sprung up so quickly that no one has had time to mobilize. That’s kind of the point of it all. If this beast can’t be defeated in Congress than it needs to be taken to court on some grounds until we can have a new election or a special election.
