Obama’s Big Day: Pulling Back On Afghanistan And Increasing Power
Hmmm, how many times during the HopeyChangey campaign (which is still going strong at barackobama.com) did we hear something similar to this?
As President, I would deploy at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan to re-enforce our counter-terrorism operations and support NATO’s efforts against the Taliban.
PRESIDENT Barack Obama has demanded that American defence chiefs review their strategy in Afghanistan before going ahead with a troop surge.
The Pentagon was set to announce the deployment of 17,000 extra soldiers and marines (sic) last week but Robert Gates, the defence secretary, postponed the decision after questions from Obama.
The president was concerned by a lack of strategy at his first meeting with Gates and the US joint chiefs of staff last month in “the tank”, the secure conference room in the Pentagon. He asked: “What’s the endgame?” and did not receive a convincing answer.
What is the endgame? In case Obama missed it during his $100 (per lb) steak dinners, he is the president, and should, you know, have a plan when this was one of the issues he campaign on, ie, Iraq was the wrong war, we should have stayed in Afghanistan, he’ll send way more troops, and rout al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan. And NOW he wants to know what the endgame is? Senator Neophyte has become President Neophyte.
And it doesn’t help that the Obama administration, and that guy brought on as VP because of his foreign policy experience (sic), are not treating Afghan President Hamid Karzai very well.
But, hey, good news: Obama is expanding the power of the presidency
President Obama plans to order a sweeping overhaul of the National Security Council, expanding its membership and increasing its authority to set strategy across a wide spectrum of international and domestic issues.
That may be necessary in this 9/11 world (which Obama and the libs would prefer to be a 9/10 world), but, didn’t Obama rail against increased executive power? Because he “was a constitutional law professor, which means unlike the current president, I actually respect the Constitution.”

Why do I get the feeling Gates and the Joint Chiefs jut stared at Obama like he was the biggest idiot ever? What’s the endgame? Uh, to win? To crush the remaining presence of AQ and the Taliban?
Once again, to paraphrase Red Forman, “You know what they say about Obama? He’s stupid.”
What’s the endgame? Is that above your paygrade too, Husseiney-wayney? Poor POTUS. can’t make policy, doesn’t know how to command or chief, gets in a meeting with serious-minded men and flails about like he’s the recording secretary, not the freakin CIC, CEO of the USA, the MOST POWERFUL MAN ON THE PLANET!!!! Well, maybe he can work on the chilly tenant case or the cheated babysitter. Those were his greatest accomplishments prior to sitting in the Oval Office.
I knew it was going to funny watching the GenX -MTV Presidency, but this is just getting better by the day! Imagine where we’ll be by year’s end? Obama on TV telling us that we should be glad to pay 10$/gallon for gasoline and maybe we should just eat rice to make up the income shortfall? Or trying to explain how pulling back the war on terror made it go away with more buildings/cities in rubble.
A great leader doesn’t need to know everything; only to know who to listen to.
