Pelosi: No G’itmo Jihadis At Alcatraz

Let’s see: last week, cBS news had a storystating that Republicans were almost apoplectic in trying to make sure that the Guantanamo detainees were not brought to domestic soil. Yet, when it is Nancy Pelosi, what does cBS news do? Well, not bother covering the story, which was ignored by most major media outlets. Have to go to Fox News for the details
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday shrugged off Republican suggestions that the federal government reopen Alcatraz prison in her San Francisco district to house detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
President Obama this week signed an executive order calling for the closure of the prison at Guantanamo within the year. Republican Rep. Bill Young then suggested to White House counsel Greg Craig that the prisoners who could not be released back to their home countries or sent to a third country be put up in “the Rock,” the famous military installation and prison that closed down in 1963 and is now part of the National Park Service.
Asked whether that was a serious proposal, Pelosi said, “It is — no.”
Why not, Nancy? Sure, as you point out, it is a national park and tourist attraction, but, certainly that can be changed quickly. Heck, fence a portion off and it can still be a tourist attraction. Liberals can pop in to pay homage to the jihadis they love, and boo the US military men and women who guard them. Status quo.
Crooks and Liars had a story which called Republicans unwillingness to allow detention centers in their districts “Sheer recalcitrant and obstructive stupidity.” So far, the only Democrat willing to take the jihadis into his area is Jack Murtha, which did not amuse people who live in Pennsylvania
We thought the idea was to keep terrorists out of our country. How silly of us.
Fortunately, U.S. Rep. John Murtha has shown us the error of our ways.
The Johnstown Democrat says he’d have no problems having suspected terrorists being held at a military detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, incarcerated in his western Pennsylvania district.
And more here, here, and here. So, come on, Democrats, step up like Murtha did, and offer your district/state as a place to house the jihadis. How about near wherever Cernig, who wrote the Crooks and Liars article, lives? Y’all wanted G’itmo closed: now what?

I like the combo prison/park scenario.
Too bad Phil Hartman (aka “Vicky”) isn’t still around to lead tours, like this.
How about a combined nature preserve and big game hunt scenario prison? A Jurassic Park electric fence to keep the Jihadis from leaving. Lots of hungry lions, tigers, bears, gators, crocs, cobras, etc.

Tour buses for the firearms challenged through the area. For $1,000,000 a pop big game hunters could shoot Jihadis–double barreled Nitro Express elephant rifles and ammo provided free! Free trophy head mountings provided.

Much as I hate to say it, Pelosi is right, although for the wrong reasons.
it would cost a huge amount to re-secure the facility. One of the reasons it was closed in the first place was the cost of repairs and upkeep.
No, I saw we put all the terrorists into halfway homes in Pelosi’s neighborhood.
When will Obama grant them immediate bail hearings? If they should, as the Left has been screaming, have full Constitutional rights, then why not allow them to apply for bail?
If you can’t have gitmo than Alcatraz and the sharks would be a good second bet after all there are sharks between Gitmo and the USA, (same for Alcatraz) so that would be ideal. Indeed, why not keep it a National Park, charge admissions to liberals to see detainees up close and personal. Maybe some of the detainees will threaten to cut off the heads of some gay lib visitors and some of the ’slutty’ dishonorable women and lesbians too. Maybe Nancy doesn’t want press stories about how her constituents would be throwing parties and giving high fives to the detainees?
