Wounded Vets Upset at Bush Insult During Vets Inaugural Ball Concert?

**UPDATED with message from the band**
While performing at the inaugural ball honoring America’s military veterans, some wounded vets are reported to have walked out on funk Musician George Clinton over a perceived on stage insult to George W. Bush.
The Washington Times is reporting that during the Heroes Red, White and Blue Inaugural Ball a white towel with the word “[Expletive] GEORGE” spelled out on it was displayed by band members of George Clinton and the P. Funk All-Stars.
Some veterans felt the display was an insult to George W. Bush, and one band member quickly pulled the sign down when it was noticed that wounded vets were leaving in disgust. Band members denied that the sign was any reference to the President and said that it was supposed to be a sign to their own band leader, George Clinton.
The Times reports that Ball organizers denounced the sign as inappropriate.
“Obviously we and the Heroes Ball coordinators were unaware that the sign existed and did not support their actions, especially considering our non-partisan mission and treasured military audience,” said ball spokeswoman Carrie Foster.
It is certainly not clear that the band meant to attack President Bush, but apparently some audience members took it that way nonetheless.
Was this a surreptitious Bush slam from the long-time political minded band or a jab at their band leader?. (Seen here in his mugshot from his 2003 arrest for possession of cocaine)
**UPDATED with message from the band**
One of the musicians that appeared with Funkster George Clinton has emailed me with her explanation about what was going on during that stage show.
I play for George Clinton, the sign was not for Bush. It is a regular part of our show and represents a story line from a comic book that came inside a Parliament record published in the 70’s. BIG misunderstanding. We volunteered for the Heroes Ball. We didn’t not go there to insult anyone, we went there to support the troops.
Hope you can see that now.
Peace- Shaunna Hall
Thanks to Shaunna for contacting me to get the band’s point of view out there to clear the record from their perspective.

Don’t blame the band too much, they were just doing what democrats do: waving the white flag.
And to think it was done by a guy named Clinton….oh man, that’s priceless!!!
I’d suggest that this is improper analysis of the situation. We can differ if it was “the band” of just Clinton (who’s band it is), but the bottom line is it ook human intelligence to make/procure the sign and an overt, conscious act to place it in view of the audience.
It’s not like it was a birthmark that looked like those words, it was a sign, with a clear and specific message, and purposely placed before those who have served.
Don’t excuse them. Someone connected to the group made it happen. Notice it was the ball spokesman who apologized, not anyone from the band.
Why was this druggie band even allowed to play at the Heroes Ball anyway???
Those fans that know George Clinton are familiar with the kind of raw uncensored anticts that take place on stage during a P-Funk show
They are always harmless and never represent any disrespectful veiws or opinions about our society in general. However they re honest about how they feel about any subject that concerns the human race.
The f-George banner was not about George Bush even though we know as a fact he has had a low and the lowest popularity rating ever in our History.
The character that held up the sign actually is a character created by the band there to represent the negative minds of our society against the fun that George Clinton show brings .He is called Sir Noze D’void of Funk he represents all the Scrooges in life.
Sir Noze like many in our society are out their to stop the human race from having fun and being “on the one” a sense of everyone being team player in our lives and the effect together to cause positive change or negeativity.
There were all adults at the event and I am sure that word is part of evryone’s vocabulary
at some point its just an expression to describe the worst admiration for something or someome’s reality.Get ready like the b word and others it will show up in websters dictionary along with other for letter words
Remember Funk used to be a bad word……
I’m willing to bet it was about George Bush.
“About 45 minutes into the set I saw George make an appearance on the side of the stage. Slowing bobbing his head and moving from side to side, he was getting into the feel of the groove. About 30 minutes after George took the stage a banner was unveiled behind him that read “Funk George Bush” which drew more than a few smiles out of the crowd. If the band wasn’t forced to stop around 1 am they would have surely played through the night. They would have had most of their funk followers along there with them feeling the groove of P Funk.”

Still confused?
Mr Confused is correct. I’ve been to their concerts. Sir Nose hates anything funky and since George Clinton is the Minister of Funk, he was the subject of that sign. Sir Nose been waving a F**K GEORGE sign ever since the 90’s, before G W Bush went onto office. So before you all attack something you have no knowledge about, do your homework!
Although the sign was inapproiate. It has been used in their show for years. It’s geared toward George Clinton. Sir Noses is a character in the band that dislikes Clinton’s funkiness.
