Obama To Order Iraq Withdrawl On Day One?

Posted on January 19, 2009

So says Axelrod

Incoming White House senior adviser David Axelrod said this morning that President-elect Barack Obama will fulfill his campaign promise and begin on Wednesday the process of withdrawing America forces from Iraq within 16 months.

“He believes that that is a reasonable timetable. We’ve moved a great distance from the time he started talking about that, and now we’re in an area where everyone agrees that we should be on a path to withdrawing those troops. And he is going to begin that process, as promised, on that day,” Axelrod said in a “This Week” interview with George Stephanopoulos.

On Wednesday, Obama will call in his military commanders and ask them to come back with a plan for withdrawal.

To be honest, this might have been big news had the withdrawal started way, way back, years ago, when Obama first called for the retreat and defeat. Now, not so much. Virtually all of the security zone responsibility has been handed back to the Iraqi military and police, controlled by Iraq’s civilian government. Units are already being pulled out of Iraq, and have been for awhile. So, really, 16 months is no big deal. Bush was intent on removing all troops from Iraq by sometime in 2010, except for small security and training elements. Field commanders thought that was workable.

So, really, this is just a feel good bone thrown to the lunatic left, which will not stop their planned demonstration on March 21, when A.N.S.W.E.R. will march on the Pentagon to demand that the troops be brought home now. And by now, they do not mean 16 months, but immediately, and by bring the troops home, they do not mean that they care about the troops, just that the US stop occupying Iraq, so that the evil, mean troops should get out. Not sure what World Can’t Wait is going to do, since their site is down, and has been for days.

Maybe if the loons spent more time reading sites like MNF-Iraq, rather then the DU, they would know a bit more. Things like that the Iraqi National Police will provide securityfor the national elections in Basrah, as well as much of the rest of the country. The fishing industry Saddam destroyed is being revitalized. And all sorts of great stories. The stories that have slowed down are ones about finding weapons caches.

Of course, the loons are still loons

WASHINGTON is suddenly hip again, infused with the heady double-barreled combination of a new crowd of idealistic young political worker bees, who actually believe they can change the world, and the arrival of America’s first black president. It’s even cool to wave the Stars and Stripes.

Proving once again that liberals only like the USA when they are in charge. You won’t find Conservatives acting like that. Country first, Party somewhere in the top 10.

I’m fully expecting this upcoming AP newsflash:

“OBAMA ANNOUNCES THAT SUN WILL RISE IN THE EAST.”

    Barack Obama: “President Obvious.”

And when that sun comes up, you’ll still be a right wing nut job.

“It’s even cool to wave the Stars and Stripes.”

Even that? Wow this Obama guy is a miracle worker. Next thing you know the kiddies will think it’s ‘cool’ to take responsibility for their own mistakes or something.
