Another Scientist Who Thinks AGW Is A Scam
And he sees AGW for just what it is
Physics professor William Happer GS ’64 has some tough words for scientists who believe that carbon dioxide is causing global warming.
“This is George Orwell. This is the ‘Germans are the master race. The Jews are the scum of the earth.’ It’s that kind of propaganda,” Happer, the Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics, said in an interview. “Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. Every time you exhale, you exhale air that has 4 percent carbon dioxide. To say that that’s a pollutant just boggles my mind. What used to be science has turned into a cult.”
Happer served as director of the Office of Energy Research in the U.S. Department of Energy under President George H.W. Bush and was subsequently fired by Vice President Al Gore, reportedly for his refusal to support Gore’s views on climate change. He asked last month to be added to a list of global warming dissenters in a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee report. The list includes more than 650 experts who challenge the belief that human activity is contributing to global warming
Though Happer has promulgated his skepticism in the past, he requested to be named a skeptic in light of the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, whose administration has, as Happer notes, “stated that carbon dioxide is a pollutant” and that humans are “poisoning the atmosphere.”
Happer maintains that he doubts there is any strong anthropogenic influence on global temperature.
It gets better.
Happer said he is dismayed by the politicization of the issue and believes the community of climate change scientists has become a veritable “religious cult,” noting that nobody understands or questions any of the science.
He noted in an interview that in the past decade, despite what he called “alarmist” claims, there has not only not been warming, there has in fact been global cooling. He added that climate change scientists are unable to use models to either predict the future or accurately model past events.
Of course, the Believers will say “but, hey, he gets grants from the EVIL Oil companies!!!!” But they still can’t rebut what he states, and rely mostly on “reports” from people, many who are not even scientists, who have a vested interest in people believing that Man is responsible for the warming that had occurred, despite 4 billion years of history, and despite the Earth warming up because, gee, we were coming out of a cooler period called the Little Ice Age. What caused the LIA to end? This is why they keep changing the starting points of global warming, and keep changing the name of what is happening, keep changing the goal posts, keep using the time frame for when Earth will be destroyed to when we all be pretty much dead of old age, and, oh, yeah, rarely actually change their own lifestyles to match their rhetoric.

The ice cores they used to cite and now conveniently forget about show very clearly that the Earth’s heat engine gets cold slowly but for a long while and heats up quick and lasts a short time, and has for more than 400,000 years we can go back in evidence.
That’s really all you need to look at to see mankind didn’t create the cycle of warming interglacials and cooling glacials WITHIN the ice age WE NEVER LEFT and haven’t been out of for several million years.
You’d swear no one even reads Wikipedia which while much maligned for accuracy generally shows a much more stable center of the road scientific POV than the screaming rabble in the media.
One good point to keep in mind is that when the hypothesized and very likely Snowball Earth event{s} occurred, the CO2 levels needed to unfreeze Earth by pure greenhouse effect were in excess of 30% of the overall atmosphere volume. That’s a level we could not achieve if we burnt the Earth’s organic surface life off all at once.
So then, how is the Earth supposedly being warmed by a minor partial percentage point change in CO2?

I would like to add that past CO2 levels follow global warming it does not proceed it. It is like saying if more people go to the beach the weather will get hotter.
This political monster started when the USSR fell and reached full bloom when GW Bush won his second term. Make no mistake the only man made part of Global Warming is the fake problem and fake solutions. Crack open a history book and point out a single event where the human race was on the right track.
Nothing we have done amounts to a hill of beans. All that was so very very important would have solved itself in a generation by allowing the morons pushing their cause to simply die of old age. So much politics and war all built on a yapping dung heap that is humanity. Why do these social trends take root? Why do we think that language has put us above the monkey tossing its feces around to amuse itself when we toss bombs.
Every generation has its dragons to slay and its all so very very self important. Burning books has its merit because our leaders wouldn’t have to strive so hard to get their names in it. I envy the monkeys, how bad can a piece of poo upside the head be anyway? When we have to listen to Al Gore.
What I don’t understand is how the media has become a crusader for C02 alarmism rather than an unbiased observer over the past few years. And there are millions of people who do not belive in AGW but are not being heard. They are being completly ignored. I’ve never seen anything like this in my lifetime.
CO2 CANNOT CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING–
BASIC PHYSICS.
This scientist is right.
Many people in the lay media and govt. do not have an adequate background in physics. Because if they did, they would know that CO2, a gas, cannot cause global warming. I am not saying there is no global warming–all I intend to show here is about one specific substance, CO2, cannot cause global warming, given the laws of physics. Here is why.
Those who attack CO2 claim that CO2 is causing global warming, as a “green house gas”.
So let us focus on the physics of the greenhouse.
I will first state some basics of heat transfer and how a greenhouse works, and then prove
that CO2 cannot be a greenhouse gas.
Heat is conducted in only 3 different ways: conduction, convection and radiation.
A green-house is basically like a glass house (that uses cheaper substitutes instead of glass, but the idea is the same). A glasshouse, being made from transparent glass, allows the energy from the sun in the form of sunlight to enter the glass house. As it hits the various objects inside, they absorb the energy, become warm, and release the energy back in the form of heat.
However, the transparent glass, that let the light energy in, limits this transfer of heat out because it blocks conduction and convection.
The glass blocks heat loss by conduction because it is glass–a material that is a bad conductor of heat. It blocks heat loss by convection, because convection can only take place in liquids and gasses, and glass is a solid.
So light energy gets in, but much of the heat energy the light was converted to cannot get out, making the glass house warm.
CO2 simply cannot cause a glass-house effect, because it cannot:
a. block heat transfer by conduction, because it is not a solid even so unable to qualify as a “bad conductor“.
b. block heat transfer by convection, because it is not a solid.
c. its release of energy as radiant heat is no different than of other colourless gases such as O2 and N2, so it cannot change the amount of heat that is radiated out into space.
Conclusion: CO2 cannot cause global warming.
