Everyone can agree that the mayor has acted in a criminal manner. Only conservatives will tie his behavior to his political affiliation, while decrying the media for not doing so as well.
This is rank hypocrisy at best. First, republican party operatives and officials are arrested and convicted of child oriented sex crimes on a daily basis. I know this as I have visited web sites that list thousands of republican child molesters and rapists.
My question is, why is the liberal media “moving on”? Why isn’t the liberal media performing an in depth expose on the the “family value” party, as there are so many child molesters hiding in the republican party? And why isn’t the republican parety, the self proclaimed keeper of “family values” doing a little honest soul searching and in the process doing a little house cleaning at the same time?

Neither political party has a corner on either good or evil. When I see these stories, I’m always interested in the defendant’s party, and it never takes me more than a couple of seconds to find it. I haven’t noticed any of the media being afraid to mention that the sleazoid governor of Illinois is a Democrat, nor that the now imprisoned former governor is a Republican. I think it’s all a matter of perception.

What sells advertising is sensation. It may be more sensational when a Democrat is violating touted Democratic values, and likewise when a Republican is violating touted Republican values. Since the Republican party has allied itself so closely to the Evangelical fringe of Christianity and has persistently proclaimed its commitment to family values, it’s especially sensational when a prominent Republican leader gets caught with his pants down. When Larry Craig, a loudly public homophobe gets arested for fellating strangers in a men’s room, it’s only human to be amused.

The fact that the Democratic mayor of an insignificant town in Wisconsin was scheming to have sex with an underage girl is pathetic. Sick. Perverse. It’s just not as amusing.
