THE LORD’S PRAYER UTTERED BY JESUS INCLUDES THE GOAL: “ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.”
IF YOU MAKE THAT THE COUNTRY’S GOAL, YOU WILL BE SO BUSY TRYING TO MAKE THAT COME TRUE, YOU WILL FORGET ALL THE SARCASM.

UNITY ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
INCLUSIVITY ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
TOLERANCE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
HOPE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.

PERHAPS, YOU COULD ADD A FEW THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED. I AM SURE THAT SHARON WILL WELCOME YOUR COMMENTS AND ACT ON THEM

Criticizing her “message of unity and inclusivity and tolerance and hope” by following with the unnecessary sarcastic remark “I always thought they were supposed to be about the teachings of Jesus and the Bible.” makes no sense at all–as Jesus’ entire teachings were about unity and inclusivity and tolerance and hope. We ‘Christians’, (yes I am Christian as well), have completely lost track of that and have strayed from the heart of our Savior’s message. How can say we follow Christ if we DON’T preach unity, inclusivity, tolerance, and hope. By not doing that, we aren’t fully loving our neighbors as ourselves. Sharon Watkins represents a denomination that has it together and is in full faith, following Jesus with their hearts and with unconditional love. They, and she as a representative of the Disciples, should be a model to other denominations as it seems that they are fine with diversity…and the beauty of unity is that we are different.

Sharon Watkins selection is fantastic! I attend a Disciples of Christ church and am proud of my church and it’s General Minister and President, Sharon Watkins. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a church open to all…we have congregations that are liberal and we have congregations that are conservative. We do not attempt to control how individual church congregants which to operate. We celebrate communion every Sunday and do not believe in excluding anyone from the table…that is practiced in ALL DoC churches. We believe that the opportunity to come to the table is open to all and that it is between the person and God. I am happy to be a Disciple of Christ who actively strives to follow the teachings of the rabbi, Jesus. Congrats to Sharon and congrats to the President-elect for his selection.

it is amazing to me how loose we as a nation have become on our definition of God.
if you dont like it, you modify it until you twist it to fit your lifestyle or choices you have made for yourselfs. the clay is telling the potter how things go is that it? if you dont like it, well we’ll just take you out of the picture and make a god in OUR own image and get on with our life? on the day of judgment we will ALL be believers in the one true God. There are absolutes. you cannot pick a church group because they are tolerant and will bring ‘unity’. I believe in Jesus. I believe in the one true God. I must follow his precepts not the world’s precept or concept of what god should be like. no matter what i think in my own, i’m still the clay.

I pray that America turns back to God. May God have mercy on America. may God bless America.

Why is that, Darrell?

Barbara, nothing is strange about picking a women. One, it is serving simply as news. I have no prob with his pick, think it’s kinda nice. Second, though, is that the media is making a big deal of this, but not about Condi, Colin, or Alberto, not to mention all the women, minorities, and minority women Bush nominated for the federal bench, many of which Dems blocked.

These are fundamentally Christian principles editor.

It should not be “…about the teachings of Jesus and the Bible…” These are not two entities. It should be “Teachings of JESUS” since he’s the one we follow and THE NEW TESTAMENT contains these principles.
