The Worst President Ever has a column up at the Washington Post which even pigeons won’t poop on, essentially finding that it is Israel at complete fault. Go figure.
He starts off with a little background on how only 3 people have been killed by the Hamas rockets, but, the people have been terrified and do not go out because of the fear. That is why Hamas is called a “terrorist organization,” Jimmy! Then
Knowing that we would soon be seeing Hamas leaders from Gaza and also in Damascus, we promised to assess prospects for a cease-fire. From Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman, who was negotiating between the Israelis and Hamas, we learned that there was a fundamental difference between the two sides. Hamas wanted a comprehensive cease-fire in both the West Bank and Gaza, and the Israelis refused to discuss anything other than Gaza.
Kinda hard to have a cease fire negotiation for more then Gaza with rockets being fired at ya, Jimmy.
We knew that the 1.5 million inhabitants of Gaza were being starved, as the U.N. special rapporteur on the right to food had found that acute malnutrition in Gaza was on the same scale as in the poorest nations in the southern Sahara, with more than half of all Palestinian families eating only one meal a day.
We also knew that rather then teaching people to farm, raise livestock, create businesses and industries that would raise capital to make sure that the people were fed, they were being taught to hate and kill Israelis. Must be Israel’s fault.
Palestinian leaders from Gaza were noncommittal on all issues, claiming that rockets were the only way to respond to their imprisonment and to dramatize their humanitarian plight. The top Hamas leaders in Damascus, however, agreed to consider a cease-fire in Gaza only, provided Israel would not attack Gaza and would permit normal humanitarian supplies to be delivered to Palestinian citizens.
Israel allows plenty of humanitarian supplies. Plus, I do think Jimmy has forgotten that Gaza has borders with Egypt, as well. Why won’t those evil Egyptians allow humanitarian aid? Not to mention abotu 50 kilometers of Mediterranean Sea waterfront. Ships have been invented, Jimmy!
After extended discussions with those from Gaza, these Hamas leaders also agreed to accept any peace agreement that might be negotiated between the Israelis and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who also heads the PLO, provided it was approved by a majority vote of Palestinians in a referendum or by an elected unity government.
The Palestinians seem to constantly accept peace agreements, then they break them by, oh, say, firing rockets into Israel. Israel’s fault, right, Jimmy? He continues on in this vein for a bit more, then
After 12 days of “combat,” the Israeli Defense Forces reported that more than 1,000 targets were shelled or bombed. During that time, Israel rejected international efforts to obtain a cease-fire, with full support from Washington. Seventeen mosques, the American International School, many private homes and much of the basic infrastructure of the small but heavily populated area have been destroyed. This includes the systems that provide water, electricity and sanitation. Heavy civilian casualties are being reported by courageous medical volunteers from many nations, as the fortunate ones operate on the wounded by light from diesel-powered generators.
Isn’t it interesting how this former president turned Islamist apologist fails to mention that those mosques and the school were being used by Hamas to store weapons and launch attacks? Nor does he mention how Hamas uses civilians as humans shields on purpose.
Maybe we should stop calling Carter the worst president ever and rename him the first dhimmi president.

Jimmy Carter is the worst president I remember–and I’m 67 years old. He is responsible for the Iranian terrorist supporting / enabling government that is causing problems all over the world and is building their nuke now.

It can also be said that Usama bin Laden (UBL) inspired a generation of young Americans (”Generation Kill”) to take up arms against idiot Muslin zealots who think it sport to kill non-combatants in their quest for sexual adequacy with the mythical 72 (re-virginating) virgins.
In the process, UBL made the US public more complacent to accept the Israeli operation in Gaza as the price to be paid when dealing with those who indescriminately fire rockets into civilian (non-combatant) areas.
This then goes to prove that UBL is responsible for the Israeli attack of Gaza.
Maybe 6,000 rockets ought to be fired at Jimmah Carter’s home in Georgia, (each just missing his home), so he might get some idea about living in Sderot. Is it any wonder that four of the five persons at the President’s & President Elect’s Meeting the other day stood together, and one was conspicuously off to the side? Guess which one looked like he had the cooties?
Carter has always been a weakling when it comes to doing the unpleasant jobs. He is a peanut farmer and has a nutty outlook on life. His presidency certainly did doodly squat to keep this nation safe.
I have heard/read many stories about the bulldozing of Palestinian olive tree farms by the Israeli government. So they are at least farming but Israel takes it away whenever they can.
eaglewingz, perhaps you didn’t read the opening of the article in which Carter decried the rockets as “terrorism” and demands they stop?
Unlike the right wing, though, President Carter actually does something about his demand, by attempting to broker a compromise. Now, I know, most righties prefer to sit around and munch popcorn while the IDF blows up schools filled with ten year old Palestinian terrorists, but as Jimmy indicated: perhaps, there was a different path?
Meanwhile, encapsulating the absolute stupidity of the entire site is this witty statement: “Ships have been invented, Jimmy!”
The irony of a chickenhawk informing a graduate of the US Naval Academy and former commander of a nuclear sub that ships exist is only exceeded by the stupidity of not knowing there is no port in Gaza!
The 2005 agreement between Israel and the PA was supposed to allow the construction of such a port, but with the Bush administration’s push to get Hamas elected in Gaza (oh, you mean they just f*cked up again and didn’t intend or know Hamas would win that election. Man, no wonder you brainiacs voted for them! They are you), the port was never completed.
Now, going out on a limb here, I’m gonna assume you know as little about port facilities as you do politics and international relations, and explain that without a port, it’s sort of hard to deliver aid. Maybe you think they could shoot food out of those T-shirt guns you run at the local Double-A franchise in Mobile, but, jackass, it doesn’t work that way.
You people baffle me. You are completely unserious about the world you claim to care about. You imagine your screaming and kicking temper tantrums affect anyone besides Mark Halperin. You believe the IDF killing Palestinians means the Palestinians won’t fight or launch rockets any longer (in complete ignorance of the last 65 years of Middle Eastern history). Attacking Gaza is not the answer and, announcing simple conclusions (Jimmy sez it’s all Israel’s fault!) is not a valid critque of president Carter OR an explanation of what should be done.

He never said anything about the war being Israels fault. All he talked about were the negotiations btw the 2 sides and u stupid neocons turn it into something else.
All he and most of the world want is Peace in the Mideast for both Palestine and Israel which majority of the world wants. There is going to be peace because WE always win. We won the civil war, Cold War, 1965, we got Peace btw Israel and Egypt and other mideast nations. We won the civil rights act, womens suffrage act and 2008 election ( Yes We Did).
Israel has to stop hitting Hamas and then agreeing to a ceasefire. No war can be won unless one sides decimates the other. This tit-for-tat retaliaton is a waste for Israel.
They should kill every palestinian they see and when there are only 100 or 200 hundred left, the remaining survivors will see they should live in Peace with Israel or they won’t exist anymore.
We didn’t defeat Nazi Germany by making nice during WWII, we killed so many of them they saw the writing on the wall and gave up. That is how wars come to an end.
For decades I have been hearing about the “starving” Palestinians. Only thing is, not a single Palestinian has starved in that entire period of time. Not one. Some Americans have, millions of Asians and Africans over the last 20 years, but not a single Palestinian. And they sure do have plenty of money for weapons, bombs, rockets, mortars, and ammo. But you can be certain we’ll hear about the “starving” Palestinians for decades to come.

Jimmy Carter continues to show the world just how stupid he is……..If the Palestinians wanted peace, Camp David and the Oslo Accords would be adhered to. The point is, the Palestinians don’t want peace, They want the state of Israel and the jews dead. You could have the Jews out of the picture and the Palestinians would then turn on Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Ask yourself the simple question,”Why doesn’t any Arab country take the Palestinians in?” Answer, they don’t want them! In the mid 1960’s, 1967 to be exact,King Huessin of Jordan took the Palestinians in, provided food, shelter, and the opportunity to assimilate into the Jordanian nation. After crushing attempted coups by the Jordanian “guests”, Huessin had the Palestinian’s expelled by force. The Middle East situation will only be resolved when one side wins.
There must be some deep psychological problem that haunts Jimmy Carter, possibly caused by his failed presidency. His hatred of Israel could be explained by a self loathing of his antisemitism.
As for the Palestinians…build hotels on all that shore-line. It worked for Atlantic City.
I do not normally respond to blogs but anything with Jimmy Carter catches my eye. Doubt very seriously if any of you were around when he was President, so count your blessing. During his four year tenure in the White House Communism spread unabated taking over much of South and Central America. He signed away the territorial rights to the Panama Canal because a few Panamanians were rioting; Panama would not even exist if the USA had not created the country taken from Colombia. Over 2000 Americans lost their lives building the most vital waterway in the world only to have him hand it over gratis. We can justifiably lay the present Iran extremism in Jimmy’s lap. But what hurt worse is when he would not let the Shaw of Iran (who by the way could have stopped Khomeini with his Royal Guards but was forbidden to do so under Jimmy’s orders) stay in the USA for cancer treatment. So much for moral righteousness! I could go on and on about how Jimmy Boy could easily be called the single worse President in USA history, but what galls me most is that he still acts like the Saint he never was.
To those of us on the left who appreciate and honor human life, you are wasting your time expecting the dimwits on the right to understand your point. Their solution is to kill, kill, kill! No nuance, no diplomacy, no thinking, no sense of history, no feeling of guilt – not ever. After all, Coulter is their spokesperson and Bill Kristol is their cheerleader. You could probably gather all the right siders in one room and still not quite make a brain cell.
As I’ve noted over at my place, time and time again – if cease fires in the name of peace actually produced peace… the Middle East should be the most peaceful place on earth.

Amazing how mum Jimmy Carter is on Darfur these days where Arab Muslims are slaughtering fellow Muslims in vastly greater numbers than Israel could or would kill in Gaza. .
Given that this is clearly an act of war by Israel of disproportionate magnitude, consider the other side of the coin. Arabs have killed more fellow Muslims in Darfur Sudan in a single day than all the lives lost so far in the latest Israeli/Palestine conflict. Millions have been executed, displaced, starved, women raped and children intentionally butchered in a clear attempt by Arab Muslims to accomplish very real genocide. Isn’t this a part of the Hamas Charter? And yes, UN and other humanitarian aid have also been forbidden to enter Sudan. Yet the Arab street and Jimmy Carter remains silent on this ‘other’ issue. Are they not also Arab brothers doing far more harm to human life than the current Israeli incursion?
Muslim nations, the media and Jimmy Carter do nor say a word about Darfur. No riots or stone throwing marches in capitals around the world. No outraged and hateful forums. The entire world has been struck deaf and dumb on the contradictions of Darfur only to focus instead on a few thousand fighting in Gaza. Somewhere there is genuine hypocrisy in all of this.
