Bridgewater School Tells ACLU To Take A Hike
Posted on January 5, 2009
I ran across this story from back on December 29th, made me want to cheer
School Committee members say they won’t be “bullied, threatened or intimidated” into changing their decision now that the American Civil Liberties Union is stepping into the fray over whether to allow counter-recruiting peace activists inside the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School (Massachusetts).
After having a request denied by the committee in September to allow counter-recruiters alongside military tables at the school, Ray Ajemian, of the Bridgewater-based peace group, Citizens for an Informed Community, says he turned to the Boston office of the ACLU for help.
Last week, the ACLU sent a four-page letter to B-R Superintendent Jacqueline Forbes, B-R Principal Jeffrey Granatino, and B-R School Committee Chairman Gordon Luciano seeking documents related to the issue.
“I think that, if this is an attempt by the ACLU to try to bully, threaten or intimidate us to try to change our vote, that they will fail,” said Luciano. He said district officials will be meeting with School Committee attorneys this week to discuss the matter.
Good for them. The ACLU, like so many left leaning organizations – Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition comes to mind – does attempt to inflict their hard left viewpoint on everything they can bully, intimidate, or sue. If there was a business that acted in that manner, or in proported to act in that manner, the government would step in and smack them silly. Just ask Microsoft.
And Citizens for an Informed Community is not a tiny little group, as claimed later in the story. In fact, they are well known in the BDS circles. They are basically an massive anti-Iraq/Bush/Patriot Act group which, like so many on the left, hates the military.

Thank God you’re Australian then and not American so that the likes of the ACLU doesn’t affect your wonderful life in Australia.
