Climahysteric Hysteria: 4 Foot Sea Rise
Posted on December 26, 2008
Here we go with the year 2100 predictions again, folks
The United States faces the possibility of much more rapid climate change by the end of the century than previous studies have suggested, according to a report led by the U.S. Geological Survey.
The study, which was commissioned by the U.S. Climate Change Science Program and issued this month, expands on the 2007 findings of the United Nations Intergovernment Panel on Climate Change. Looking at factors such as rapid sea ice loss in the Arctic and prolonged drought in the Southwest, the new assessment suggests that earlier projections may have underestimated the climatic shifts that could take place by 2100.
They can’t get the 10 day weather report correct, yet, they can tell us what the climate will be 91 years from now? PT Barnum David Hannum would have been thrilled.
In one of the report’s most worrisome findings, the agency estimates that in light of recent ice sheet melting, global sea levels could rise as much as 4 feet by 2100. The intergovernment panel had projected a rise of no more than 1.5 feet by that time, but satellite data over the last two years show the world’s major ice sheets are melting much more rapidly than previously thought. The Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are losing an average of 48 cubic miles of ice a year, equivalent to twice the amount of ice in the Alps.
OK, all you Climahysterics try a little experiment. Take a glass. Fill it with water about 1/2 way or so. Take an ice cube, drop it in. Mark the water level. Now, let it melt. When done, where is the mark? The same level? Holy cow!!!!
What the climahysterics are setting up is a way of claiming that the cooling climate has been caused by the warming climate we had.

I can’t believe I’m bothering to do this, but here goes:
There is a tremendous difference between weather and climate. Try this link for an easy introduction to the differences: http://epa.gov/climatechange/kids/climateweather.html
The Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are sitting on top of land, not on water. Therefore, if they melt the resulting runoff will increase the amount of water in the oceans.
Try harder.
Hey SGEW,
Starve YOUR family first. Then we’ll believe you. I want to see liberals volunteering for eco-suicide after their children are grown. Then I’ll believe you and we’ll all lower our standard of living to mudhuts and horsecarts. But I want to stand on the dead shoulders of Leftists. I thought you guys were courageous?
I don;t see the problem with a four foot rise in sea level. If it only affects the East and West Coasts then is this really a great loss to the country???
Antarctic Ice is not reducing and many charts showed it at record highs last year.

Surf’s up!
SGEW,
You are right. There is a difference between weather and climate. But before getting all puffed up about knowing the difference, do you know a crappy data model when you see one?
When the AGW folks (or is it climate change this week?) fail to include solar radiation and cloud cover affects in their models and they have conflicts in outcomes that differ by orders of magnitude, I wouldn’t be staking my personal reputation as a smarty-pants on them being right.
The flaws in their methodology and data are legendary, yet they never flinch in the face of opposition and fact (global warming on Mars is real but where are the Martians who must be creating it?). Now the new administration will put our national economic well being at risk because of this false religion of AGW. This is serious stuff and a bunch of smarty-pants shouting down anyone who disagrees with them raises serious doubt in the foundation of their faith.
How about the dogmatic AGW people get down off their high horse and display some willingness to admit Gore is not God and some of what has been spouted by the AGW side in recent years is pure rubbish. Let’s convene a truly open-minded review of all the relevant facts and possible causations of climate change before we spend trillions of dollars and risk our nation’s future based on the outcries of folks twenty-five years ago sounded the alarm on the coming new Ice Age.
This news gives liberals more incentive to have unprotected sex and more abortions.
It’s for the PLANET! The resulting AIDS should not be treated. That too would help the PLANET!!!
Al Gore was an average student, he was a nobody in the Senate, he and his family abuse drugs, he was a zero as vice President, but now he is an Oscar winning, Scientific genius!!!
And you libs wonder why we laugh at you.
You’re effing nuts.
SGEW, do you know what climate is? It is the averages of things like the high temps, low temps, temps, rainfall, snowfall, etc. And what creates those averages? Weather. Weather is basically natures way of moving warm to cool and cool to warm, whether it be air or water. So what weather does creates climate.
And, as far as the ice goes, it isn’t going to make a difference. When you get some melting, you will get a tiny sea rise, which has been almost nil since the end of the little ice age. You know how much ice would have to melt and flow into the oceans to raise them 4 feet? Think about trying to raise the level of a standard size pool. Takes quite a bit of water to raise the levels up, eh?
The more these AGW freaks get wrong the wilder and more hysterical their predictions get.
How long can the growing splay between their scenarios and the empirical data be ignored?
The last I heard the Antarctic Ice cap was not melting and this year the ice increased in the Arctic. Greenland was suffering a melt but particle pollution and not CO2 is a reason for that. Those pollutants are the heavy metals of cadmium, thallium and lead and technology has been solving that situation even before we knew it existed.

According to Princeton Climate is Weather averaged over time. Since we cannot predict the weather accurately we can not predict how the weather will be averaged over time accurately. Still some scientist have caught on to the scheme of crying the sky is falling which gets their projects funded and them paid. But thankfully not all scientists are that dishonest.
It’s the Paulson Syndrome. They saw Paulson’s Chicken Little act got him and his former employer hundreds of billions of dollars and got congress to act without discussion or legislation of reasonable oversight. So the tree huggers are going to keep upping the ante on baseless fear until they get a bunch of the money and power.
Pennsylvania Dutch and others still live a very good life using horse and buggies. They use only horses for farming and eat healthier than the rest of us. I sure do not want to go as far as them but going to solar , wind, tide for electrical energy is cool. Battery cars are here now but that technology will not be released whole scale until more easy oil is used up. Just the fact that parts of our nations population have never fallen for the energy gluttony the rest of us have proves it can be done now. Even if global warming turns out to be not accurate or as bad as predicted. We will run out of easy oil soon and should be making the changes that protect the environment create new manufactoring potential and make us more energy independent. Sorry Drill Baby Drill just don’t cut it for our kids.
