Christmas Gift For Iraq Veteran

A special Christmas

LA MARQUE (Texas) — David Trejo, 1, and his sister, Trinity, 3, got to open some of their Christmas gifts early. So did their parents, only they didn’t open gifts of a firetruck or a stuffed dog.

Rather, they were given keys to a new house.

Former U.S. Army Spc. Sergio Trejo Jr. was the latest wounded Iraqi-war veteran to receive a new home from Helping a Hero, a nonprofit group that partners with homebuilders to provide new homes for wounded military service members. Trejo was the second Galveston County resident to be awarded a new home.

Last month, Marine Cpl. Steven Schulz, who attended Friday’s house presentation, was awarded a Wounded Hero Home in Friendswood.

Trejo served two tours of duty in Iraq as a member of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division.

Hooah!
