Scandals Shadow Obama Presidency Before Even Taking Office

Posted on December 11, 2008

The Blagojivech scandal isn’t the only one Obama is being associated with. Rezko is singing like a bird, and it very well could be making Obama sweat.

A former Illinois real estate specialist says FBI agents have questioned him about a Chicago property that had been bought by convicted felon Tony Rezko’s wife and later sold to the couple’s next-door neighbor, Sen. Barack Obama.
The real estate specialist, Kenneth J. Conner, said bank officials replaced an appraisal review he prepared on the property and FBI agents were investigating in late 2007 whether the Rezko-Obama deal was proper.
“Agents and I talked about payoff, bribe, kickback for a long time, though it took them only a short number of minutes of talking with me while looking at the appraisal to acknowledge what they already seemed to know: The Rezko lot was grossly overvalued,” Mr. Conner told The Washington Times Monday.
“Rezko paid the asking price on the same day Obama paid $300,000 less than the asking price to the same seller for his adjacent mansion,” he said. “This begs the question of payoff, bribe, kickback.”

Ed Morrissey sums it up:

Obama and Rezko worked together for more than ten years in Illinois politics. If Rezko was as dirty as a jury verdict states and as federal prosecutors believe, how likely is it that anyone employing him was squeaky clean? Their political association lasted over ten years, during the period when Rezko was corrupting state politics. It’s certainly possible that Rezko’s corruption didn’t involve Obama, but to assume it didn’t seems far too credulous by half, especially with the present example of Illinois politics before us now.

If Rezko’s singing, many politicians are sweating. Obama may be one of them. Let’s see what happens before being dismissive of the possibility.

Can’t you red necks get over the fact that an African American is in the CIC seat at the White House. Find something else to do like asking why the big three auto makers are telling the American people that 2 to 3 million auto workers will lose their jobs if they dont get the money. Truth is that the UAW will continue to pay the workers at full pay for two years if they are indeed llaid off.

Oh Dave, can you really be that naive? First of all, anyone who really cares about the order of law and the constitution are not red necks (in my world they are called patriotic). Second, Get off the hyphened Americans. They are either Americans or they aren’t. And finally, you dope, the UAW pays no one (they take but they don’t pay). You keep the big 3 alive, the way they are and the devastation will be complete. Send the Big 3 back to business school and a stint in Bankruptcy court and they can come out better for it. As for the UAW… they have had their day. They enjoyed above average pay for years while the rest of us honestly took our average pay. Now it’s time to pay the piper! Why should a few of us who work hard for out money be taxed to help these idiots maintain their exorbitant salaries?

The mansion deal does not ‘beg the question’ if it was corrupt, it has been answered here.
