I'm definitely less knowledgeable in Philosophy, being a high school student, but can't those five tenants justify actions that we now think of as "wrong" but were once referred to as "right"? Take slavery for instance. The arguments at the time might have gone as follows:
1. Slave owners like it when others validate their beliefs
2.Slavery leads to better economic conditions and cultures savages
3. Slavery is sanctioned and mandated in the Bible
4. It is fitting and proper for the whites to be slave owners
5. We have always had slavery

Obviously, we would now categorize these beliefs as "wrong" but they could be argued at the time. Is there some absoluteness that can't fall into something like this?
