Surrender Monkey Saturday: UNC Surrenders To Christmas Haters

surrender monkey UNC

Since Surrendie has been rather bored as of late – it’s hard to find Democrat surrender stories since Iraq is going so well – he demanded coverage of this story. You will not be amused, but, you will not be shocked. It is something that we have become all too familiar with during the holiday season

For as long as anyone can remember, Christmas trees adorned with lights and ornaments have greeted holiday season visitors to UNC-Chapel Hill’s two main libraries.

They aren’t there this year.

The trees, which have stood in the lobby areas of Wilson and Davis libraries each December, were kept in storage this year at the behest of Sarah Michalak, the university’s associate provost for university libraries.

Michalak’s decision followed several years of queries and complaints from library employees and patrons bothered by the Christian display, Michalak said this week.

So, because a few people complained, ne’, whined like a 3 year old, everyone else must suffer.

“I don’t understand it,” said Belcher, a senior from Havelock and president of the university’s College Republicans. “We have Christmas as a federal holiday. If we’re going to remove the Christmas tree, do we have to remove that holiday?”

Good idea. I suggest Sarah Michalak and all others who complained be required to work on Christmas Day. Same goes for anyone else who complains. They should not get holiday pay, and should work just like it is any other day. Think they will complain if forced to work and have their holiday pay taken away?

A different library has no problem with any sort of Christmas display, even if it is a bit weird.

You’re all the same. You misrepresent and tell outright lies and exaggerations about the ACLU. You make such a good Christian example for what you proclaim so loudly.

It’s not freedom of religion you want, you want exclusive rights to be the only religion and to be able to impose your particular flavor on everyone else.

Tell the truth. Quit hiding your arrogance and prejudice behind the lie of persecution.

I understand that UNC is a public LIBERAL arts college. But where does this PC madness end.
Are we going to take out all the books in the library that have any reference to Christmas or othere religious holidays and burn them. Next will be that no one can enter the library with any expression of Christmas on their person. Does this mean anyone who shows up at a football or basketball game dressed as Santa Claus will be kick out or arrested.
These are the values that are shaping our future?
Where do I sign up for the signing of the “Marxist Carols” this season?
And a very merry socalist season to you and yours,

UNC is a much better school than the glorified textile mill it was in ‘74..it is also far from a liberal atmosphere…but of course you wouldn’t know that because you don’t know jack about Chapel Hill

Gee, prufrock, I live right down the road from UNC. I have been there many times over the years I have lived in NC. I worked near there twice. I have partied there, I have done table days there. I know people who work there. And, yeah, it is liberal. Not quite as wacko liberal as it was maybe 10 years ago, but still plenty liberal.
