Al Qaeda Lego Toys!

Al Qaeda Lego

Maybe they were confused, and meant to make an Obama lego toy (cheap shot, I know)

A RANGE of Lego-style fighting figures — including an al-Qaeda terrorist — has been slammed by religious leaders.

Can you guess which ones?

The masked follower of 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden comes with a rocket launcher, assault rifle and grenades.

Mohammed Shaffiq, of Muslim organisation The Ramadhan Foundation, branded the toy “absolutely disgusting”.

He said: “It is glorifying terrorism — the makers should be ashamed.

“We should be coming together to unite against terrorism, but how is that possible when children are playing with toys like this?”

Ummmmm, hate to say it, but, he has a point, the toy is pretty disgusting, particularly since I cannot find anything negative about him or the Ramadhan Foundation, in terms of Islamification or terrorism. However, it might be nice if Muslims would speak out a bit more and decry Islamic terrorism, Mr Shaffiq.

There is also a Nazi toy, which, along with the Al Qaeda one, was slammed by a Jewish gentleman in the article.

Uh, need to calm down. Children always play with the good and bad guys. Cowboys & Indians, Cops & Robbers, toy soldiers (two sides, remember?) Pirates, Luke Skywalker & DarthVader, etc.

Anyone with a son knows that they play opposite sides and imagine battles between good and bad, with the child not always taking the side of the “good”. This is normal developmental play.

I think it is great. So many children have been thrust into the reality of terrorism that their “play out”, dealing with good and bad, are probably beneficial.

As to the Nazi, that is also fine, giving the child a chance to work with clearly “bad” guys and play/imagine fighting/winning and losing. I am a religious Jew and have no problem with it. I even take my kids to the nearby (San Diego) LegoLand from time to time and will continue to do so.

    These are TOYS.

I must stress that I have been very outspoken against terrorism and extremism, just read our press releases and watch our videos on Yoube before you make statements that are not true.

I am very passionate about speaking out against terrorism and extremism.

I agree with Robert. It used to be boys would designate half the kids on the playground as Indians and the other half as Cowboys then chase each other around shooting pretend arrows and guns. Because of political correctness, you can’t do that anymore. I would think a more appropriate game for these times would be soldiers vs. terrorists. Imagine the arguments about who was in the blast radius when the suicide bomber blew up!

Mr. Shafiq is also a very strong supporter of Obama (he cried when Obama won), calls the war in Iraq “illegal”, wants the closure of Gitmo, and has a healthy use of “neocons” on his blog.

I remember when I was playing with my toy soldiers (early 1950’s), the ‘bad’ guys had German WWII helmets.

This didn’t make me hate Germans just what the Nazi stood for.
