I am shocked that some Christians are perverting the central message of their own theology by encoding discrimination into a civil constitution. You are ignorant of your own theology.

Christ was deeply concerned with the disenfranchised, ridiculed, despised, and marginalized of his society. It was his central message.

Shame on you all for spending your time, money, and energy on a distraction like same sex marriage.

Religion solemnizes a marriage rite. The government accords benefits and protections. These are very separate things.

You cannot get married in a church alone and expect the government to legitimate your heirs or recognize your spouse for social security benefits, hospital visitation rights, or guardianship of your children — to have SOCIETY recognize you, you must register your union with the state. That is all same-sex marriage is about… the right to so register and be recognized.

Shame on you.

Seriously…why do you hate us so much? Why do you hate those that are so different from you? I’ll seriously never frequent this website again, so I’m not looking for answers…it just kills me. I’m not a bad guy. I go to work. I pay my taxes. I take care of my grandmother and I love my family and friends…I just happen to also love another guy instead of a woman…why does that matter to you?

You wonder why so many gay teenagers kill themselves…they live in a world where they hear stuff like this all the time. It’s hard living life being told you’re evil and a 2nd class citizen. I bet most of you have no idea what that is like though. I don’t say that to be spiteful, but in seriousness. I don’t any of you have ever known the extent of shame and isolation that comes with being gay. It is not a choice. No one would wish this on themselves, and endure what we’ve endured.

I don’t want kids to learn about gays in school, I think that’s a parent’s responsibility. I don’t want christian churches forced to conduct a ceremony for me and my boyfriend within their walls. I believe in the separation of church and state, and that goes both ways. If a priest doesn’t want to conduct my ceremony, it should be his choice.

All I want, all I’ve ever wanted out of this, is to be seen as an equal in the eyes of my government.

Why are you all so opposed to that?

Did you notice in the video how they used the lady to simulate sodomy from behind? It was obviously a conscious choice. It was weird — almost as if using a guy would have been a little too close to reality? Kinda homophobic on their part, don’t you think?

And of course they lied through their teeth and implied that the “normality” of homosexuality wouldn’t be taught to kids. That happened within months of the judges decision that prompted Prop 8.
