Smoking Is Okay When Obama Does It
The nuanced liberal mind grasps that everything depends on context. Even smoking, which libs have been self-righteously railing against for decades, can be cool under certain circumstances — for example, if the Moonbat Messiah does it. From a WaPo ode to The One entitled “Let the Guy Smoke“:
As for being a role model for youths, Obama’s good habits outweigh this single bad one. … Obama’s steely calm is now one of our country’s major assets. If he needs an occasional cigarette to preserve it, let’s hand him an ashtray, offer him a light and look the other way.
It would take more than a cigarette for Obama to face characters like Putin with “steely calm.” Reagan this guy ain’t.
WaPo argues that while serving as president would be the wrong time for BHO to stress himself out by kicking the habit. You can’t help but think of Lloyd Bridges in Airplane!:
“Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop smoking…”
“Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop drinking…”
“Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue…”
Why don’t we just put him on Ritalin and let a grownup be president?

I had hopes that the nanny state might back off a little with this. But part of me wants them to “get in his face” about smoking. I doubt if you can smoke inside a federal building, but The Vapid One would probably sign an executive order to bypass that rule just for him.
Oh well, I’ll go smoke now.
I seem to recall that all the Dear Leaders throughout history had that one Bad Habit that his/her minions allowed, if for no other reason than to not arouse his/her ire more than usual. Nice to see the USSA’s upcoming Dear Leader will follow this tradition…
“Obama’s steely calm is now one of our country’s major assets.”
Steely calm? Seriously? In the face of what? The case of the shortchanged babbysitter? The chilly tenant? Remember, we didn’t elect the man who was proven in crisis, tried by fire. We elected the secret man, whose grades are unknown, financiers are unknown, birthplace, unknown.
Too bad conservatives can’t show the respect that the liberals refused to give Bush. If Obama fails in Iraq and Afghanistan, America fails in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why don’t you get your damn act together and oppose the President when he needs to be opposed, and support him when you can.
That’s what people of honor do. Don’t sink to the low level set by the liberals.
the elector of saxony beat me to it.
” Obama’s steely calm is now one of our country’s major assets. ”
I’ve seen him get bent out of shape over supposedly “tough questions” a couple of times. He’s untested, so his “calm” is also untested.
For the love of god.
“…oppose the President when he needs to be opposed, and support him when you can… That’s what people of honor do.
You got my attention Jd. As a person “of honor,” what, about Obama, do you support?
I support his plans for Afghanistan. I support a bailout of the automakers. I support tax cuts for the middle class. I support an emphasis on nuclear, natural gas, and alternative energy, rather than an emphasis on drilling.
What I don’t support, and will never support, are his social policies.
Conservatives need to refrain from imitating the disgusting behavior of the left during Bush’s presidency.
