Yet Another Obama Broken Promise to the Left

The evergrowing list continues:

Partial Obama summary:

Lobbyist and special interests will have no part in my administration…but perhaps we can make exceptions.

I vow to cut funding of missile defense…or maybe not.

While we are at it we’re going to close Gitmo….or maybe not.

We will investigate the CIA’s interrogation techniques and make them adhere to the same rules approved by the military….but perhaps we will keep some torture aspects.

….and now…perhaps we won’t pursue criminal investigations into interrogation of terrorist detainees.

Barack Obama’s incoming administration is unlikely to bring criminal charges against government officials who authorized or engaged in harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists during the George W. Bush presidency. Obama, who has criticized the use of torture, is being urged by some constitutional scholars and human rights groups to investigate possible war crimes by the Bush administration.

Two Obama advisers said there’s little — if any — chance that the incoming president’s Justice Department will go after anyone involved in authorizing or carrying out interrogations that provoked worldwide outrage. …

Obama has committed to reviewing interrogations on al-Qaida and other terror suspects. After he takes office in January, Obama is expected to create a panel modeled after the 9/11 Commission to study interrogations, including those using waterboarding and other tactics that critics call torture. The panel’s findings would be used to ensure that future interrogations are undisputedly legal.

Eh…it would have been a futile effort anyway, as Ed Morrissey points out:

As the AP points out, Bush could pre-empt any investigation simply by issuing pardons to those involved in interrogations. In fact, Bush is likely to do just that, and he may start soon. Now that the elections have concluded (except in Georgia), the political risk is nil, and it would protect the people on whom he relied to keep the nation safe. The only person Bush couldn’t pardon would be himself, and the spectacle of a President prosecuting his predecessor would explode partisan passions in Washington, bringing the capital to a halt for years.

I can certainly live with these broken promises, but I’m sure the far-left are starting to feel the disappointment. Right? Someone should start a blog called “Obama’s Broken Promises” keeping tabs on all of them. Don’t expect the media to do it. They’ll continue to prop him up. Hey, nobody said hope and change would be easy.

Hey, I’ve got a new nick-name for Obama the lefties can use!!!! Bush!

Curse your sudden, but inevitable, betrayal!!

  2. John Whitham on November 18th, 2008 5:24 pm

Obama is just another politico. anyone who expected the the vaunted “change” would happen as described in delusional. He is having to deal in the real world, not some leftwing fantasy of the world being run in some politically correct dream. *&^%^&$ fools of the folly party.

  3. michael on November 18th, 2008 5:45 pm

I find it amazing how angry you people are. The man hasn’t even entered the White House yet and you are already condemning him. Get a life.

  4. T. Ajir on November 18th, 2008 5:47 pm

President Elect Obama, already changing some
    of his campaign promises?
What, we don’t even get a honeymoon? Many
people who have lost hope are counting on
him. Now that he has been elected, will he
    forget about the “voting masses”?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, sounds
very good to me, but how will she keep Bill
    down on the Farm?

Lieberman, so the Senate forgives him, thats
very generous, I know many Democrats have
lost all respect for him, but then, elections
are over, no one in Washington gives a damn
    anymore what the PEOPLE want.

This comment is in response to Michael’s comment above. Angry? Not really. Tired of the Bush bashing and ready to hand it back to the left? You betcha! If the Bush haters can bitch and complain for 8 years straight, I see no reason why I can’t do the same. After all, it’s only fair.

  6. AirborneVet on November 18th, 2008 5:58 pm

And this comment is for Fran.

Fran: “Why don’t you all start slamming each of the WHITE Presidents that we had voted into office? Are they without blemish?”

Please Fran, don’t try to play the race card here. All politcians are fair game no matter when they take office or what position it is or what color they are.

  7. Phreddy on November 18th, 2008 6:08 pm

James, are you saying that since Urkel now agrees with Bush’s positions that Bush is…right?
Mighty big of you, that’s change we can believe in.

  8. James on November 18th, 2008 6:11 pm

Urkel? Wow. You are that award winner for mature here. I can’t even have a conversation of substance with someone that uses that kind of idiocy to convey their point.

  9. James on November 18th, 2008 6:12 pm

Question for all of you Obama detractors out there…do you believe that John McCain acted with integrity during his campaign?

  10. JimCap on November 18th, 2008 6:20 pm

Actually, I look forward to hearing the whining and crying of the right for the next eight years. I like that sound.

Because no matter how much the conservative extremists whine about Obama, there’s NOTHING they can do about it!!! They HAVE to live with him for the next eight years!!!

    Whoopee!!!

And every time President Barack Obama makes a court appointment, or passes a good piece of legislation, I’m going to celebrate all over again.

Oh Sweet Victory!!! Right in your face!!!

  11. Panday on November 18th, 2008 6:22 pm

    Fran, Michael, and Jim Cap

We’re going to treat Obama exactly the same way the Left has treated Bush over the last 8 years.

If you don’t like it, go look in the mirror. And tough sh*t.

  12. mike macan on November 18th, 2008 6:30 pm

And when another attack on American soil happens…..you stupid journalists…can write about that as well. War crimes!!! It is the government that supports/protects your freedom to write garbage. Go put on a flower tatoo on your face….Obama knows better…he did the talking…you followed him like a bunch of gigling schoolgirls. Now that he’s in office he knows better…he can’t keep 99% of his promises. To be president of the US is the hardest possible job in the world….one that should not make any promises because it probably will not be kept! Atrocities??? These are the same war mongers that started 9/11. You probably interrogate your kids harder or more severe you liberal scumrats!

  13. markei on November 18th, 2008 6:32 pm

This comment is for FRAN above.

Hey Fran! Why don’t we call it as it really is…Obama is “HALF-WHITE” That would be fair!!

  14. ScottKansas on November 18th, 2008 6:34 pm

Wow… all I can say is wow. Don’t feel alot of love in this room. My wife bought a Prius, maybe you have heard of it, the car that gets 45mpg. Someone keyed it, only because of the McCain sticker. If you dems don’t want to work with us Repukes then we will work very hard aginst you, something most dems know nothing about.

  15. Jim Treacher on November 18th, 2008 6:41 pm

“Question for all of you Obama detractors out there…do you believe that John McCain acted with integrity during his campaign?”

    Yes. That’s why he lost.

“Anyone who thinks there isn’t going to be a vast change from the Bush Administration to the Obama Administration is either willfully ignorant or in deep, deep denial.”

That’s not a very nice thing to say about President-Elect Barack H. Obama.

  16. Ananiah McCarrell on November 18th, 2008 6:47 pm

I see a bunch of excuses being made for Obama. There is such an extreme double standard and lack of any intelligent thought being put in to Obama. You swallow what he says, even though he did nothing but promise everything to everyone, and now he’s turning his back on his promises. People like me and my Republican friends did very little else but warn you that he was going to do little to nothing of what he promised. All of you held up his promises and we had to sit through Scarlet Johannsen singing his speeches and people like Jason Alexander and Forrest Whitaker praying to the man. He isn’t president yet and you don’t think it’s okay for us to criticise him, yet it’s okay for you to deify the man? He’s a politician, nothing more and nothing less. He is not exempt from criticism. Go wiki fascism and you’ll see it starts as a personality cult and from people making excuses for their “dear leader”. No one ever sang songs of praise to Bush, McCain or anyone else, yet you hear people writing hymns to some corrupt Chicago politician. You are all sickminded and you can’t even think clearly enough to realize it.

  17. James on November 18th, 2008 7:00 pm

“Now that he’s in office he knows better…he can’t keep 99% of his promises. To be president of the US is the hardest possible job in the world….one that should not make any promises because it probably will not be kept!”

Hey, genius, he isn’t in office yet. You have nothing to back up your claims!! NOTHING.

And if you think McCain acted with INTEGRITY during his campaign, you are holding him to an extremely low standard of integrity. Before the election, I had a great deal of respect for John McCain. He lost all of my respect when he started acting like a bewildered child who couldn’t keep his story straight. He picked someone who would have been a complete embarrassment to our great nation as his sidekick. McCain fueled the fire of hatred, allowing many of his supporteds to fan false and disingenuous claims. Remember when a woman stood up and said Obama scared her because he was a Muslim? Did McCain say, “and what’s wrong with being a Muslim, ma’am?” No. His response was that Obama was a family man, a citizen. I can understand why some of you reactionay right wing folks don’t understand the difference. But clearly, McCain was playing the politics of fear AGAIN. McCanin did not run a respectful campaign, and 52% of the country voted against him, choosing the more level headed, respectful, thoughtful man. Tell me…since 52% of the country voted for Obama, does that mean 52% of the country is liberal? Because I’d rather have that then 52% conservative people who hurl veiled racist epithets and uninformed tripe when they disagree with someone or something.

  18. Patti on November 18th, 2008 7:04 pm

ok really for all of you- black white pink purple or yellow, Does it really matter what color the president is? Come on YOU should not have voted for Obama JUST for race issues-If you did SHAME on YOU! You should have voted for Obama or McCain simply because they were both running for the President of the United States. ok but whatever we have a new President AND WHAT SHOULD MAKE HIM ANY BETTER THEN THE LAST PRESIDENT OR THE LAST PRESIDENT OR THE LAST PRESIDENT- come on people it’s politics and nothing more. So go find something else to do…or complain about or whatever…..

  19. John on November 18th, 2008 7:05 pm

Obama deservs absolutely no more respect than Bush got from his detractors. As a marxist who doesn’t have the courage to be forthright about his collectivist leanings, his support of both domestic and foreign terrorists, and his utter lack of actual accomplishment (other than getting elected in the new American Idol political tradition) – he is deserving of nothing but condescension. All you Obamunists can choke on your propaganda when we get economic turbulence not seen since the pathetic Carter years.

  20. bozo knows all on November 18th, 2008 7:19 pm

We already are and will continue to see Obama make Bush look like a relative SAINT! So relax and let us overreact to get back at you as you did with Bush. He messed up things but nobody gives him any credit for 6 yrs of economic growth, taking out saddaam after 12 yr of snubbing the un (in a decade he will look like a hero/visionary as the middle east improves, got N Korea to back down, promoted free trade-progressive in our global economy and shows goodwill to poorr countries, donated more to Africa then any former President, etc etc. And the Habeuas corpus comment above-give me a break you take drastic steps whenh you have a drastic situation=9/11 and terrorism threatening us ongoing-the Gitmos already released turned up fighting us back in their countries-we killed miost of them thank goodness and wiretapping etc saved all of our butts and how did it hurt you-if you aren’t up to no good! So be fair and watch Obama over liberalize, create more gridlock in DC, and divide America more. Gee Unity is reflected in 96% of blacks voting for him now isn’t it!

  21. carlos on November 18th, 2008 7:20 pm

Obama rode into office on a platform of abstractions (change, hope, courage etc) yet the government, the world runs on particular and harsh realities.

If you want to believe that Obama can change realities overnight — then play no attention to the man behind the curtain. If you live in the real world, you understand the difference between fact and fantasy.

Obama presents the best PROMISE that change will happen albeit slow or fast . . . that’s only PROMISE one should be keeping score of.

  22. Judi E on November 18th, 2008 7:23 pm

Really, you should let the man get into office before you begin enumerating his broken promises. He isn’t even in a position yet to break any promises, so how can you make pronouncements that he already has?

  23. marcia on November 18th, 2008 7:26 pm

You Bush supporteres still don’t realize what this man has done to our county by being selfish and greedy and very studpid! He can’t run a sports team let alone a county. How far in the gound do you have to be before you realize this little man didn’t care about you or your county. Obama has hope and new ideas that haven’t been used by the greedy republicans. You make up stories and lies about the one person the majority of us voted for and trust. Let’s see what you say when the economy gets turned around after the awful 8 years we just endured.

  24. Patti on November 18th, 2008 7:36 pm

ok Marci and Judi- listen up! he is already appointing his cabinet- GROW-UP and quit with the he hasn’t even taken office yet PLEASE…..

  25. Adam on November 18th, 2008 7:40 pm

He is a realist – not an ideologue. Thank God. How have the last eight worked for you?

  26. AtlantaDebbie on November 18th, 2008 7:41 pm

Believe me, Marcia, no one wants you to be right more than voters who identify ourselves as fiscally conservative. We are the ones who, if you wish to stereotype, have the most to gain by a robust “turned around” economy.
And as far as supporting the guy that I didn’t vote for, believe me, I do. I want him to be sucessful. Very much so, becuase I want the country to be successful. And most fiscally conservative voters would agree with my position. We’d rather win with the beauty queen we didn’t pick than lose with the beauty queen we didn’t pick. We want him to succeed, and hey, let’s be frank here, we are the small business owners and investors who will be putting our shoulders to the wheel and making the success happen, if it truly does.
At the same time, voters who identify themselves as fiscally liberal have to understand that after 8 years of hearing negative after negative after negative story from the New York Times, CBS, etc. and having to go to the Wall Street Journal for any positive news on the current administration, we’re a little weary of the “bashing” and there is a tendancy to want to pay back the pain.

  27. James on November 18th, 2008 7:47 pm

“nobody gives him any credit for 6 yrs of economic growth”

Sure…that’s why our country is on the verge of economic collapse, because of 6 years of economic growth.

    You make me LAUGH!

  28. AtlantaDebbie on November 18th, 2008 7:47 pm

Adam -thanks for asking, the past 8 years have worked out pretty darn well for me. I’ve been able to fly safely in my country. I’ve been proud that my country had a big part of removing a dictator who continually threatened the US and his neighbors. My equity investments did quite well for 6 years. I was able to foresee the housing bubble since I have buddies in the banking system worried about what the Community Reinvestment Act was causing, so I knew to cash out of equity. Now those funds are waiting to buy distressed real estate, providing a market to assist in the current crisis. I’m seeing gas prices at less than $2/gallon, around what they were 8 years ago. So, all in all, the past 8 years have gone pretty well for me. How ’bout yourself?

  29. Bill on November 18th, 2008 7:56 pm

Obama is the Pres-elect. All Americans need to pray that he does a good job and that he makes the right decisions that will help Americans and the United States. There will be decisions that he makes that we like and decisions he makes that we do not like. There will be things said by people for and against these decisions, as there have been from the earliest presidencies. With most new presidents there is change and with the hopes of a lot of Americans change is on its way. Lets pray that the change is not for the sake of change and whatever the change is, let it be for the benefit of our country and her people.

  30. DREW on November 18th, 2008 8:07 pm

DOG ON-IT! WHILE I DONT CARE FOR THE IDEA THAT THE PROMISES WONT BE KEPT, I KNEW THAT BEFORE CHOOSING NOT TO VOTE FOR MR. OBAMA. AS THE SAME WITH MCAIN, IM SURE THAT NO POLITICUS ALIVE WILL EVER BE ABLE TO KEEP ALL PROMISES, WHEN THEY ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT THE(PROMISES)CANT BE KEPT EITHER BY LEGAL REJECTION OR THE LACK OF DESIRE TO DO SO. I HAVE TO SAY HE CAN DELIVER A SPEECH BUT WITH NEAR TO ZERO SUBSTANCE. OUTSIDE OF EXPERIANCE IN WASHINGTON AND A BETTER EDUCATION ID TRULY HAVE TO SAY SARAH PALIN IS EQUALLY QUALIFIED, INTEGRITY LOSES OVER FALSE HOPE EVERY TIME. I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY MARXISM YOU PATHETIC, DUMBED DOWN P.O.S.’s “we can do it” a four word phrase and a bucket full of lies is really worth all of your integrity.pull your heads outta yo butts and think. have none of you read the communist’s manifesto? it should be required reading at grade level 8-9 and if thats too early then we’ve failed our children. dumb-[edited] need to realize that there is no “change” bill now has a puppet and hillary to pull the strings, from here out its all a lap dance!

  31. Foreigner on November 18th, 2008 8:50 pm

Americans are so frustated that they cannot see any answer to their problems coming from within themselves. The reaction to their frustation is either blame a man or put their hopes on him. Attacking each other will eventually lead to self destruction. You have enough enemies around the world to spend your time and energy attacking each other. Your enemies love this and will eventually take advantage of it. Can’t you just put aside your hostility toward each other and drive all this wasted energy toward your common destiny?

  32. Joe the Voter on November 18th, 2008 9:09 pm

Those of you tired of the Bush bashing, why? If Obama has 2 terms then that means you will enjoy 16 years of bashing Clinton and then Obama and only 8 of 24 years with G.W.

You will be ahead in the recent bashing department 2-1 and I know most of you seem to enjoy it because you don’t ever offer any solutions…So bash away.

I am a strong Republican and very proud of it. However, I see no point in bashing either side. If you want to see any kind of change one way or the other, try looking at yourselves, not government. I will, too. I’m praying for President Bush now, and will pray for President-elect Obama in the future, too. They will both need it.

  44. Greg M on November 18th, 2008 10:34 pm

How many times has it been said that the Office of the President is not a training ground for the inept and uninformed. You voted him in – you’ll live with the devastation he creates with the gaffes and missteps.

This is going to be a hoot watching him flail arond like taffy, pulled in different directions by any number of forces he is beholding to. What I can’t wait for is to watch the media that covered up for this guy, begin to spin their way out of the complicity that we all know they are guilty of while trying to save what little credibility thay might have saved.

  45. Robert Atwood on November 18th, 2008 10:43 pm

    This one is for John…..

We are already in an advanced state of economic collapse after 16 of the last 20 years controlled by the right….Bush put us 10 trillion in the hole and the sucking sound grows louder everyday. I am a retired veteran who also worked many years for the government in a high level management position. I think it is really sad when I read over and over again about how all of us who voted for Obama were everything from unemployed left-wing bums to mindless idol worshippers. More college educated, professional men and women voted for Obama than old John McCain.

  46. Greg M on November 18th, 2008 10:45 pm

Aniniah if you want to really shake your head at something, click on this link to a Zogby poll and watch in absolute dismay at the people that voted for Obummer. It will infuriate you at the incredible ignorance shown.

This should not be such an emotional debate. The bottom line is that only time will tell us the real results of the elections. Seems most in the blog are wanting to prejudge things that have yet to occur.
Yes, socialism is a failed experiment. Yes, Obama got elected based on promises that rather seem (to me) like socialism. But lets be honest… Only time will tell who this guy really is, and for those of us with right-leanings, lets get back to work. Gov’t can’t fix OUR lives. To those on the left, be careful what you promise. If you don’t deliver, you lose credibility.

To michael: No dice, man. The moonbats have gone after Bush and the Republicans since December, 2000. Time for the moonbats to get a taste of their own medicine. It’s going to be fun.

And hey, wasn’t Obama advertised as a Messiah? Truth-in-advertising and all that.

  50. Used to be a Dem... on November 19th, 2008 2:14 am

Ovet the next 6 years, Bush created a sound economic country and the US created over 2000 Millionaires! So don’t go crying how bad Bush effed up our country, its also so amazing how esy we Americans forget 9-11, biy, Bush was our Hero when he went after the terrorists!!!

Please, you Democrats are pathetic to believe Osama, oops, I mean Obama, is going to rescue all of us…

I’d take McCain over Obama any day and not for his skin color, more for his experience…

  51. Ed S on November 19th, 2008 2:19 am

Politics is about the art of the possible, which requires compromise to build a based from the centre, not Rovian fring exploitation. Bush is what you get when you campaign as a centrist and govern from the right wing base. Lincoln is what you get when you have someone willing to inspire from basic principles and willing to work with enemies to get it done. What Obama promised is to bring a change by inpiring more consensus building in the right direction. Individual promises may not be feasible, but the spirit behind them is still alive.

Broken promises. Lets see Bush promised to end abortion and gay marrige. Oh yeah I forgot ” he left it up to the states to ban it.” now that’s true conservatism right there. since we are talking about lieng and getting screwed here. he did do a single thing he promised while he was in office.

As far as getting atacked in america again. that happened on bushes watch. the most protected spot in america (the pentagon) was also hit I might add. what does this prove u idiots ask. it doesn’t matter who is in the white house. the fact that we have so much freedom allows us to be atacked. hell as long as you are born on american soil you have to right to buy a gun and cause havic.

and yes obama can be fair game even before he takes office. we should rip him when he is wrong and that’s the only way to keep any of these people in washington right. as far as the messiah comment. the so called super christians who are so much spiritualy connected than the rest of us siners voted bush in based on abortion and gay rights. to hell with what is right for everyone. yet nothing was done about it and we are still voting on these 2 issues. my point bush was thier messiah and he broke all of his promises.

i closing i would like to say shut the hell up give the man a chance and he cant be any worse than the one’s before him, after all the dems where the one’s who balanced the budget and left a surplus when goat boy took over and spent it. oh yeah the repubs did help to balance the budget as they were in control congress at the time. if we all can’t work together as one the we will all fall together as one regardless to who is in the white house. politicians are politicians regardless of party. all of them are friends and looking out for each other.

we are a government for the people by the poeple so lets start calling the shots on these politicians.

To all bashing this post–reread it. The point was not Obama changing his mind, it was that Obama is quietly mimicking the Bush positions–and all of a sudden those positions are acceptable.

  56. Used to be a Dem... on November 19th, 2008 2:32 am

    Hey Mark,

Get your facts in check… though Bush may have been able to do more by reacting faster to the tragedy, but if you’ll recall, most of the good people in LA, refused to leave their homes, so don’t blame it all on Bush, but hey, that seems like the American way now does’t it, when something doesn’t go our way, gotta blame someone, right?

  57. mrman on November 19th, 2008 3:00 am

one more thing. none of us believe everything that obama said. however what we do believe is that he will be different and bring about some change to the way things are going now. can he, we don’t know. will he, we don’t know. bush promised to unite the country during his second term and didn’t do it.

personaly i like mccain. he just spent to much time trying to convence me that obama was wrong insted of convencing me he was right and that is why he lost. it had nothing to do with smooth talk. it just the way his campaign was run was wrong. and for the record obama would not have been in ofice without a majority white vote. the blacks and college kids just put him over the top. what does it realy say for mccain that he with all his experience couldn’t convince the people that he was the right man for the job and here the rookie came and stole the show. the blacks are still a minority group as far as voters go anyway.

then there was that sarah fallen chick. that was and continues to be a desaster. i like here style and think she will be a good rep candidate if she can just shut the hell up disappear for a little while and educate herself a little more. someone in here said that her and obama where a lot alike and that is true to some degree. however obama has a proven track record for organizing and getting results regardless to what you feel. that is what ultimatly beat mccain. a simple concept called organization, something mccain didn’t have. obama has already changed this country and the world in so many ways. his election has gave a lot of poeple hope and some form of respect for america again. will he keep it? we will see, but i do agree he better perform or he will be out of there soon too.

I can’t help but laugh at some of these comments. Whatever the righties say, the lefties have to jump in and attack yet they’re the ones accusing the right of attacking Obama with “lies” and by golly they can’t be bothered with actual facts that get presented via research (Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly & Greta VanSustern are among the long list of those who only report facts as opposed to the rabid biased lefty lovin media-MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NYTimes, et al). Then you go to some strangers blog where they write something based on how they feel (or maybe things they’ve researched) and you darn lefties attack that too! As if there aren’t ANY lefty bloggers doing the same thing with their Obama praises, predictions, and McCain/Palin bashing!). If you don’t agree with how “the other side” feels about the new President Elect, then why the hell do you specifically seek out bloggers/reporters other than “your side”? I certainly don’t waste my time going to the numerous blogs of lefties because I know what’s going to be said-seems like common sense to me! Unless of course you thrive on controversy…personally, I leave the drama up to soap operas.

James: The reason the country is in the midst of economic collapse is hardly Bush’s fault, even tho the lefties like to brainwash others into believing it is. I think it’s amusing that so many have forgotten so much-like the first 6 years of Bush’s term where the economy was great-in fact the Dow had never been higher-but then the Dem’s took over Congress and POOF…here we are now! It surely wasn’t BUSH that was on that Fannie/Freddy donation list!

Robert: You’re statement regarding Bush putting us $10 trillion on the hole isn’t exactly a factual statement-I believe Saddam Hussein & Osama bin Laden were responsible for a large portion of that debt, and I for one am PROUD that President Bush had the balls to stand up for our country! Clinton had the opportunity to get O.B.L. which could have prevented that day and he looked the other way as always!

It just baffles me that so many of you have forgotten exactly what happened on 9/11! And you’re a veteran? You should be the FIRST one to stand up and salute the man! If Clinton had still been Pres.(the President that was impeached I might add) on 9/11 he’d have been hiding under his desk (with an intern, no doubt), and if Obama had been Pres., he would’ve been right there too with his tail between his legs!

President Bush and all of our military men and women are who have kept us safe and free and I find it sickening that so many of my fellow Americans have forgotten, or worse yet, can’t see that!

A year from now I think I’ll conduct a poll of my own and see just how many people are still praising this lying, conniving, manipulative man we’ll soon be calling “Mr.President”. I’ve got a feeling most people will have removed the rose colored glasses by then. The ones that haven’t would never admit that a Dem President could possibly do anything wrong-immoral, unethical, illegal-anyway. They’ll find a Republican to blame for whatever issues there are, just like they’re doing now even though the majority Democratic congress has been screwing the citizens since 2006 and will continue to do so until the GOP takes back control (and they will, just wait and see). Whenever Americans want handouts-they vote Dem; when they fear their safety and want TRUE tax cut-they vote GOP. (That’s been the trend anyway)

  59. AmusedReader on November 19th, 2008 3:29 am

mrman: I’ll comment! You said that you’re a gun owner and that basically it isn’t the guns that kill its people that kill..I agree with you. However, you’re praising the wrong man if you want to keep those rights to bear arms cause it won’t be long before Obamunism does to us what happened to Australians…we are forced to “turn in our guns” on the promise of a safer nation, and the crime rate goes up 300% as a result!

As to your comment that the 9/11 attacks took place on Bush’s watch-I’m sure you’ll also remember that Bill Clinton had Bin Laden in the crosshairs and refused to pull the trigger! Had he captured him as he was advised (and should have done), 9/11 most likely wouldn’t have happened. To blame that attack on President Bush is one of the most ignorant ascertations I’ve ever heard!

You also stated that Bush didn’t ban gay marriage on the federal level-umm…have you seen the reaction lately of people who are rabidly pissed off that gay rights were banned by a majority vote of the citizens? I mean seriously..the Obama lovers were THRILLED that he won the majority vote for President, but now that something didn’t go their way all the sudden the voting system is a big fraud? Puhleeze! If I were President, I wouldn’t touch banning gay rights either! Now, what were “all the other things” that Bush promised and didn’t deliver? Seems to me he was doing just fine till the Dems took over Congress and all hell broke loose!

  60. Mom0f Six on November 19th, 2008 3:49 am

I am definately not an Obama supporter, but I will reserve judgement until he’s been in office. It amazes me, however, how successful Democrats are in taking credit for the things they didn’t accomplish and in blaming Republicans for the messes they (the Democrats) created, such as our current housing collaspe. Bush DID ask for stronger regulation at least 17 times and was turned down by the likes of Schumer, Dodd, Franks, etc., saying everything was fine. Obama has not shown alot of judgement in some of the people he associates with and he has managed to deftly “tweek” his positions to appear moderate. We have elected a “mirage” and will find out what that truly means in the near future. That said, we Americans do like to disagree and trade insults, but we aren’t fighting in the streets, or committing genocide in this country. I just love how “foreigners” love to lecture us about change is not always necessarily good, and remember that 48% of us didn’t vote for this change. However, I will take my pastor’s advice and “Pray for our President, but put our hope in God.”

  61. AmusedReader on November 19th, 2008 3:50 am

Used to be:You’re absolutely right about the number of NOLA residents that refused to leave during Hurricane Katrina! Isn’t it funny how the victims of that tragedy demanded handouts from the government, yet you don’t see the residents of Florida asking for debit cards and mobile homes when they get hit by these storms(which happens a lot more often than it does in LA). In fact, I haven’t heard of the TX residents asking for much either and look how hard they were just hit. It makes me sick when I hear people blaming Bush for Katrina even tho he gave them so much help afterwards. I’m sure his magical powers created that tragic storm, and I’m also sure he forced those residents that stayed to be too stupid to leave too! My parents live on the Gulf coast in Florida and they’re smart enough to leave (on their own, no less-not waiting until their told to evac) when a storm looks to be headed towards them. If people don’t want to deal with hurricanes and the tragedy that can come with them, then why the hell do they live in a hurricane prone area? I can’t figure that one out. They get at least a week’s notice but still stay. I live in Michigan and when we get only moments notice that a tornado is coming, we’re smart enough to take cover! And we don’t go around looting from those that we call “friends or neighbors” either.

These people that blame President Bush for Hurricane Katrina and her aftermath are absolutely pathetic, and it simply makes my blood boil!

I’m glad to see there’s still a few of us realistic people left and that our nation isn’t entirely filled with unrealistic ideolists that think handouts, not earned wages, are “rights”. I have to laugh tho-Keith Olbermann & Rachel Maddow are STILL foaming at the mouth over Sarah Palin-attacking her like rabid dogs every night on MSNBC. I can’t wait till Obama proves us right so we can watch them squirm in their dirty diapers. ;o)~

MomOfSix: I want to thank you for sharing what your pastor said! “Pray for our President, but put our hope in God” That’s one of the best things I’ve read out of all of these comments! I think I will borrow it and use it as my signature in emails, etc.!

And just for the record (to those who will undoubtedly slam what I’ve said in my other posts), I do pray for this country every day and that includes praying that God’s Will will prevail during the Obama administration-because I fear what is to come & we’re already seeing signs of it (ie:the Obama birth certificate issue just for starters). But most importantly my prayers consist of the words “God Bless America”, as ALL of our prayers should-no matter WHO sits behind the desk in the Oval Office.

Judi E on November 18th, 2008 7:23 pm Really, you should let the man get into office before you begin enumerating his broken promises. He isn’t even in a position yet to break any promises, so how can you make pronouncements that he already has?

Hey it’s not like we care. We didn’t like his positions to begin with – that’s why we didn’t vote for him or any other Democrat in the last five decades, ya see?

The whole point of this whole thing is that EVEN THOUGH the guy is not in office yet he is ALREADY having to rethink what he promised TO YOU to make you vote for him, to anchor expectations for when he DOES take the office and can’t deliver what he said he would. In other words – you lot aren’t getting what you want, nor or we – who is it that is winning here in any way? And if you want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt when he’s ALREADY reneging on what he promised you that makes you a fool and nothing else.

  65. Marissa on November 19th, 2008 4:45 am

I Leave for Iraq In a few days!!!!! I have read everyone’s comments….. The sad part to all of them is that one person will not make a change….. WE as a team, a nation, a Country will make the change. So as you sit here and write back and forth to each other rude comments. STOP. And try your hardest to say something Positive. You know this is a really hard time on Country; People are homeless, loosing their jobs, their lives. Soldiers are dying to make a difference. Where were you on 9/11 as we watched our friends and family die? I know every morning I wake up and I put my uniform on with pride no matter who my Commander is, or what my mission is that day, or what is in store for me tomorrow. I am proud to be an American not because I’m white or black but because I have a nation that I call home through thick or thin, rich, or poor. As a nation we have come together and chose to make a difference. We are the team that will make a difference. We are a Nation under God. We need to remember to believe in something bigger than ourselves. Wouldn’t that be one hell of a change?????? So we can all sit here and judge what other people’s opinions are or we can make a difference. It may be small but how about the next person comment sound like this. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring but I have faith in our Country. No matter who our President is whether he be black, white, Republican, Democratic, or Independent. What matters is having faith behind our Soldiers, the Government more importantly our Country. There has been a time in all of our lives that we have had nothing or lost something that could never be replaced. As a Nation we have lost big……… But I ask all of you to remember one very IMPORTANT FACTOR we are survivors and as a Country that I am proud of even through all of the trials and hard times we ARE still and always will be survivors. Not as individuals but as one Nation. And if we could remember that through these next few years as my President, Your President keeps the most IMPORTANT PROMISE OF THEM ALL!!!!!!! That he will do his best to honor, serve and help bring this Country to a healthier and more promising tomorrow. If he changes one thing just one thing even if it is the smallest thing ever at least he made a change!!!!!! Blame who you want, slander who you want, be hateful, think you are the only one with an opinion that matters. And then look around you and ask yourself what did you just change????!!!!!! And ask yourself why you are standing all alone. We may not like the all of the choices that we make as one Nation!!!!!!!!! But we are a team changing everyday so join it, help America be stronger one step at a time!!!!!!

Well I am glad we can finally say America has its FIRST BI-RACIAL President. I will not call him Black or White. Because he is NOT one or the other. I will gladly call him what he is Bi-racial. There is nothing wrong with that, most Americans are from many racial lines and now we have a time to say we have a new President.
Of course during the past two years of promises from everyone we all know the truth that when they get into office they have to face the reality that they NEVER knew.
So, its expected that all those promises made meant well, but, it is fun to keep a list of what didnt happen. But, we have to stay behind our President and wish him the very best.
He is going to need it, just like every other President did. I hope they have a great 4 years in office.
Will be fun to see how long it takes him to raise taxes ….. took clinton 26 days …. get your calendar ready and follow the fun.
May God Bless America and our Troops!

Marissa, my best wishes for you as your tour comes up. My son spent 3 yrs there and my baby girl is there on her second year right now. I have heard from them how wonderful the people are there. Prayers for you.
Thank you for your service. I appreciate you each and every day. My husband retired after 20 years in the Air Force.
May God Bless you and your unit.

  68. mrman on November 19th, 2008 10:24 am

marissa, my God keep you and protect you first of all. Thank you for your service second, and I agree with you totaly. reread my post. I pose the question what are the solutions and that we need to stick together as i explained to foreinger. we are supposed to be a nation under God. the very thing that tears us apart is our lack of racial tolerance as a country. people are angry with blacks for voteing when they use to ignore blacks for not voteing. this is an example of lacking in racial tolerance. we finaly have found how to get a race of poeple to participate and be interested in the political process and there are forces that wish to tear it down verses learning, teaching and expanding so that we can grow together to be the great nation we once were.

i’m sure that all of our men and women in uniform are saddened by the fact that they are putting thier life in danger only to have everyone over here argueing and fighting over stuff that doesn’t matter. in the end our service personel will be the one’s to suffer if we can’t get our act together here at home.

no job to come back to, no money for school, and poor healthcare are some of the things that will face those who fight for our freedoms. the least we as americans can do is stop fighting each other and work together to ensure that you all will have something to come home to other another fight for what is due to you for your service.

    one love

To James who asked if McCain acted with integrity during his campaign. Yes, unless there’s something I haven’t heard about. And he ran one of the least negative campaigns in recent history, at least from my vantage point in Belgium. The Democrats, however, looked defiant, negative, reaching for truths about Bush and McCain that had little resemblance to reality. But at least they’re more entertaining!

Hypocrits, most of those critizing Obama voted for Bush twice, also voted for Edwards who betrayed them, the Hillary, who will betray them. Expecting Obama to be Jesus and Clean up all of white priviledged voted messes, is the highest form of Hipocrisy and Racism. Obama is still only the President Elect and these vampires calling themselves Democrats want Blood. One day the leftwing perfecto hypocrits will find out they have been punching themselves in the face with their arrogance.

  75. marlene on November 23rd, 2008 5:43 pm

Well By George, these Left wing nuts really thought they could control Obama as if he does not have the rest of the WORLD to think about.
These are some sorry idiots, living in micky mouse world with lollipops. Their immaturity is through the next galactic plane. Obama will do better to ignore them, if they are acting this way before he is even sworn in. Someone told them they would not have to pay for their greed, arrogance and priviledge. They wanted Obama to relieve them of all of their white twisted guilt, now they are still trying to transfer it by acting like Obama can snap his fingers like hewitch and make all the problems dissappear. These people have sold America out, now they want to blame Obama to pretend they didn’t, as soon as their fake rights are threatned. Well welcome to the real world. Martin Luther king and Malcolm X warned you about. Always white selfishness was their reason for doing anything. Including the White Gay Priviledged who voted more poorly for Obama then any other group demanding what they know the Republicans will laugh at. Good luck and Shut up Obama bought this Nation out of depressive darkness, and gave it hope so the White left loonies could continue their dog barking.
