The Catherine Vogt Experiment

Catherine Vogt, a 14-year-old in liberal Oak Park, Illinois, conducted a fascinating experiment by wearing a “McCain Girl” T-shirt to her 8th-grade classes and recording the reaction:
People were upset. But they started saying things, calling me very stupid, telling me my shirt was stupid and I shouldn’t be wearing it.
One person told me to go die. It was a lot of dying. A lot of comments about how I should be killed.
In one class, I had one teacher say she will not judge me for my choice, but that she was surprised that I supported McCain. Later, that teacher found out about the experiment and said she was embarrassed because she knew I was writing down what she said.
[A student] said, “You should be crucifixed.” It was kind of funny because, I was like, don’t you mean “crucified?”
Other suggestions included that she be “burned with her shirt on” for “being a filthy-rich Republican.” She was told that supporting McCain meant advocating the assassination of Obama. Those who had anything positive to say about the shirt had to whisper conspiratorially.
Phase 2 of the experiment called for wearing an “Obama Girl” shirt the next day. Needless to say, the reaction was friendlier, as Catherine was welcomed back into the herd.
When liberals gloat sanctimoniously about “inclusion,” what they mean is, we will all be included in the Obamaborg — no exceptions permitted.

Do you suppose the students who made the less than pleasant comments or statements to Catherine Vogt developed this sentiment on their own or is it a reflection of what they learn from their parents?
I’m more concerned about the parents than the ‘children’ who expressed extreme disapproval. However, it should be added that under any circumstance it has been said kids can be very mean. More than we might imagine. But they would probably not naturally pay attention to politics if not observing their parent’s reaction to it, even with all that is available thru the net, etc.
It could be the students pick up what their parents have expressed themselves. Doesn’t say much for the parents, does it.
However, in reality, students get most of their perspective from their teachers and the media in their lives. Math, science and any meaningful history/civics or critical thinking is not the emphasis. While teachers have the power of indoctrination under the guise of education, the media pastes junky 5 word headlines for simpletons. There is no question of bias in anything on TV/radio or most all young people are exposed to. And there is only one way to present an issue, and only one conclusion to be reached. Its 30 years of garbage in and garbage out now.
Conservatism is bad, though they don’t have a clue what being conservative means.
What young people don’t recognize is that they are the establishment, the ones who don’t question the authority they’ve been raised in. Along with their parents/teachers and other adults in their life, they are status quo, the ones who can’t think critically.
The result is a very dangerous stupidity.
I expect this kind of behavior from the ‘We’re SO tolerant!’ and ‘Hey! We’re the Vanguard of the Blacks!’ Left. Hopefully, the government of Illinois will start defunding that immoral school. Watch the ACLU, the NEA, the AFL-CIO, and the rest of the media (especially Fox News) defend the actions of the community, if they even pick up the story.
I think it’s high time we did something about the persecution of conservative students; although this student might not be one, her experiment really highlights the persecution they are subject to. Just like we would not let the Nazis and cancer exist in our society, we would not allow Leftists to do so, either. Perhaps President Bush could sign an executive order that requires all schools that have excessive liberalism (with no effort being made by the school administration to combat it) to be completely defunded. If we are going to reduce the amount of grip academia and the rest of the crackpot community has on our society, we should persuade President Bush to do something about it, while he still can.
