Are you ready for change? You better be, or it will make you ready! I can’t wait to see what color shirts everyone gets! I’m sure if you don’t like this idea you will get the unpatriotic badge, or the racist badge or something.
I wonder how long it will take the Obamabots to wake up to the reality of what they just put in charge of this country.
Given that there is so little upside to the notion of a permanent civilian paramilitary, the serious chance of small political mischief, and the small chance of serious political mischief, weight against this, um, audacious plan.
Finally, the cost. This is a somewhat secondary concern because Obama is going to pay off his cultists whether they do any work or not. The grants and giveaways for the Obama Youth are coming from the Obamistration way or the other. But those too should be fought.

And how will the nation’s youth react to forced labor camps, which is exactly what Emanuel proposes? Community organizers might think of this as heaven, but the rest of the young adults between 18-25 will resent the hell out of it. After turning out the youth vote in 2008, they may find that 18-25-year-olds will discover their inner libertarians and vote out the Democrats who sold them into indentured servitude against their will.
The draft at least served real security interests of the US over its 30+ years of existence, and it wound up so unpopular that Democrats and Republicans use it to make voters nervous about the plans of the other. I doubt it would take 30 weeks for its return to reach the same depths of resentment among its targets.
Let’s call this what it is: a state-sanctioned confiscation of liberty that is being justified, through some Orwellian calculus, in the name of “what it means to be an American.”
The national guard and various other organizations in the US already respond to internal emergencies such as natural disasters, epidemics or internal unrest.
This is certainly not WWII where the US is under direct threat of annhilation. While the CDC has a certain romantic history, it was a different time and circumstances.
What is the necessity of such a CDC today? When other organizations already fill the need?
Meanwhile, gun sales are out the roof since Obama got elected. I wonder why?

This was made known for weeks before the election, and yet you voted him in anyway. Is it HIS fault you weren’t paying attention?
That last paragraph will apply to a LOT of things coming down the pike from him.
