Michael Steele for RNC Chair
Michael Steele and Newt Gingrich have both stepped up for the position of the RNC Chair. I think either of them could lead well. Michael Steele lays out his vision today in the WSJ:
Republicans once said that the opportunities this nation has to offer rest not in government but rather in the hands of individuals. Over the past decade or so, however, we Republicans lost our way. The disparity between our rhetoric and our action grew until our credibility snapped. It wasn’t the fault of our ideals. It was the failure of our leadership.
Over time, our principles morphed into baser motives. Continued political dominance grew more important to those who led us than the noble vision most of us originally signed on for. And to maintain power we turned to the controls of government — we became the party of big government. We behaved like Democrats.
I completely agree, on too many issues Republicans have started acting more like Democrats. I think Newt should take note here as well, because the whole global warming embrace is another one of the issues too many on the right have fell for.
We must articulate a positive vision for America’s future that speaks to Americans’ hopes, concerns and needs. It’s time to stop defining ourselves by what we are not, and tell voters what we believe, how we’ll lead, and where we’ll go; how we Republicans will make America better; how we’ll make their families more prosperous, their children better educated, their parents more secure, and all of us healthier, safer and stronger.
Our challenge lies not in beating Democrats, but in uniting around a message that solidifies our ranks and attracts new people to our cause. We have to listen to what Americans are telling us about their hopes, desires and needs, and then translate that message into proposals for meaningful action squarely grounded on the values we Republicans have always stood for.
Our faith in the power and ingenuity of the individual to build a nation through hard work, personal responsibility and self-discipline is our uniting principle.
Steele evokes Ronald Reagan, as so many do, in hearkening back to the principles that transformed the Republican Party into a force for liberty and reform. We’re fortunate to have both Steele and Gingrich to guide us out of the wilderness in this fashion, but Steele may represent the future of the party better than Gingrich as the head of the GOP in the next few years. I look forward to hearing more from both as to their vision on revamping the technological infrastructure of the RNC in order to support the ideals the party unfortunately betrayed while it held power.
Mary Katherine Ham reports that Gingrich may endorse Steele instead of running against him. I think that would be a very smart move.

Steele is a rising star in the GOP and I think he has the potential to be a fine RNC head.
The real key is does he have the gumption and forward-looking vision to flush out all of the RINO’s and faux-conservatives out of the RNC? As it stands now, both the RNC and the majority of the GOP leadership have left the party like an unchanged litter pan that desperately needs to be cleaned out, sanitized and deodorized. Only then can the fresh air of the true conservative message get out.
We can complain about an ObaLosi Leftist Regime all we want, but the GOP as a party are facing a true Pogo situation. And it past time they faced. Hopefully someone like Steele can get the ball rolling on this.
One thing that keeps me optimistic is that there are lot of Young Turks that are moving up the GOP ladder. The future belongs to the Steele’s, Palin’s, Jindal’s, Demint’s, Sessions’s, Pence’s etc.
Michael Steele is just what the G.O.P needs at this time.Bobby Jindal 2012!
I am 200 percent behind for Micheal Steele to lead the RNC. I am happy to hear that him and Newt will lead the party.
Thank you,

Dear Mr. Steele,
I sincerely hope you run are appointed the head of the RNC, God knows we need direction and help. First, let me express my highest frustrations and concerns and that is our election and the vote that is so important to every American that is now there are so many opportunities that can be maniplulated.
This is a grave concern to the GOP who I feel 99% of the times playes by the rules and they like who they see when the look at themselves in the mirror each morning. We are not cheaters we are honest and hard working.
I really would like to see that every voter produce an identification card that shows where they are to vote and everyone has to produce a picture id that corrosponds to that voter card. Voting early should be Friday, Saturday and Monday prior to Tuesday. That if you are registering to vote it has to be done 3 weeks prior to any election.
I really want a serious investigation into ACORN. How many stories have portrayed on FOX and nothing. If that was the GOP we would be under all sorts of investigations. It is amazing how many new votes have been found and all are for the DNC, no way in probability and statistics is that possible. This is dispictable and needs to be cleaned up to insure a real election.
We need to address Energy Independece, all enery, Oil, Gas, Neculear, Shale, Coal, Wind, Solar and explore alternatives that are not their yet but hopefully some day.
Next we need to rid ourselves of tenour based Teacher programs in our educational systems. This should be changed to a scale based on achievement of the students that graduate from their classes. So much like the general sector.
Finally, taxes need to be addressed. We need to look for the municipalities, to counties, to state to federal and reduce them all. After all that is what this country was founded on. They (Our forefathers) hated the taxes England was emposing on them so they fought the price to give us freedom.
I support you and hope you would consider my points of interest. This is why I feel we lost this election. McCain was not a true Conservative and that is what Palin was. This is the only reason why I voted for the GOP ticket. We need to get back to our priorties and basic beliefs.
Respectfully,
Deborah Sutton
